Part time Patient Relations Coordinator
Responsible for the overall administration and coordination of St. Vincent's patient relations. Serves as the Patient Representative and oversees the complaint and grievance process. Facilitates core measure data abstractions and reporting to CMS and the Joint Commission. Enhance patient care experience by identifying and addressing areas for quality and performance improvement. Assist with incident management, analysis and reporting to the Justice Center, OMH, OASAS, and DOH.
Master's Degree preferred and at least 3 years' experience in healthcare services, preferably behavioral health. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Excellent computer skills, particularly Excel. Ability to facilitate teamwork. Ability to create, analyze data, charts, and graphs. Ability to interact effectively with senior leadership, patients, families and regulatory agencies.

- Answer all incoming calls and route them to appropriate personnel; take messages and send task as necessary for all care centers.
- Schedule, confirm, and cancel office appointments as patients call in.
- Work on referrals and import demographics from patient portal.
- Pick up voicemail messages on a daily basis.
- Verify patients health plan benefits & obtain authorization, if needed.
- Assist patients with questions and/or concerns regarding procedures
- Request medical records from doctors and hospitals
- Call-in new prescriptions and refills and obtain authorization if necessary
- Obtain lab results including stat requests
- Other duties as assigned
- A high school degree or GED is required for this position.
- One year of experience in customer service and/or related clinical environment; working knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.

- Taking Initiative Must be able to work between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm

Summary
Position Highlights:
The Patient Relations Advocate serves the patients, families and staff of the cancer center by providing guidance and support with the goal of building and maintaining a high-quality patient experience. This position is the cancer center resource for patients, families, guests and staff for interpretation and education of patient rights and responsibilities. This position functions in compliance with cancer center policy and CMS and Joint Commission guidelines as they pertain to the receipt, documentation and response to patient complaints and grievances.
The Ideal Candidate
- The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills.
- Fluent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience with medical scheduling software desired.
- Possess excellent soft skills and interpersonal skills.
- Communicate clearly and openly.
- Resolve complaints, grievances and other official requests and correspondence.
- Responds to requests by the patients, faculty, staff and support personnel.
- High school Diploma or Equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated professional success in conflict resolution, mediation and/or crisis communication and resolution and should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Notary Public Certification Preferred, but not required.
