The Senior Planning/Scheduling Engineer (EPC) is responsible for developing, maintaining and analyzing project schedules to support the execution of EPC projects. This role involves collaborating with project teams to develop detailed work plans, monitor progress against timelines, milestones, and identify schedule risks and opportunities.
- Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 scheduling software.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop detailed work plans and schedules for engineering, procurement, subcontracts, construction and commissioning activities.
- Monitor progress against project schedules timelines and milestones and identify schedule variances and risks.
- Analyze schedule impacts of changes to project scope, resources, or priorities and develop mitigation strategies.
- Prepare schedule reports and presentations to communicate schedule status and performance to project stakeholders.
- Provide recommendations to optimize project schedules, including resource leveling, critical path analysis, and schedule compression.
- Coordinate with project teams to resolve schedule-related issues and conflicts.
- Participate in project meetings and reviews to provide schedule updates and recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Vast experience working as a planning/scheduling engineer or project controls specialist in EPC mega projects in the oil and gas, petrochemicals, industrial gases industries.
- 15+ years of experience may be accepted in leu of bachelor’s degree.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling software.
- Proven experience in the application of project management principles and techniques, including schedule development, resource management, earned value management, and risk management/analysis.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in the development of schedule breakdown structures in accordance with the predefined requirements and works with the Lead Cost Engineer to ensure seamless integration of P6 and Ecosys coding structures.
- Prepares drafts of network logic diagrams for segments or the entire project as applicable.
- Performs forward and backward pass assessments during the preparation of the project schedule and provides critical path analysis highlighting pertinent start and finish dates of milestones and activities.
- Reviews short-cycle schedule impacts and prepares CPM project schedule analysis.
- Collects, validates, and integrates schedule and earned value progress information from vendors and contractors.
- Performs detailed analysis on vendor and contractor schedules.
- Prepares different tabular and graphical schedule timeline and resources reports from as required.
- Assists in the integration of project changes in the schedule forecast.
- Attends project meetings and participates by providing the applicable reports.
- Facilitates meetings with key project team members, vendors, and contractors to address and update the project schedule status and forecast.
- Collects vendors and subcontractor schedules and provides effective analysis and reporting of status, and impact to the critical path and overall integrated schedule.
Work location:
During the engineering phase the Senior Planning Engineer will collaborate and work fromHouston TX office and will also conduct weekly routine visits to the contractor offices in Houston TX. Upon completion of the engineering phase, the Senior Planning Engineer will collaborate and work from the project site in Gonzales LA.

The position falls within the Transmission Department of the organization. The Planning Engineer will be working with higher level engineers and the customer planning team to run analysis on the grid system. They will be working in collaboration with the customer to get all their studies approved and will be teaming up with an engineer at the customer to sign off on their work. They will be conducting load flow studies, voltage drops, and inter-connectabilities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Conduct feasibility studies
+ Identify possible points of interconnection (i.e: 765, 500, 345, 138, and 69 kV stations)
+ Conduct initial load flow analysis using PSSE 32 to determine if system upgrades will be needed (i.e: line re-conductoring, sag studies, and transformer upgrades) and conduct analysis
+ Conduct initial short circuit analysis using CAPE one-liner to determine if any circuit breakers are over duty and perform analysis independently
+ Complete submittal forms and generate reports/ estimates for each possible connection option
+ Utilize PSSE MUST to conduct studies
Education and Experience Requirements
+ Five years or more of experience with transmission planning
+ Five years or more of experience with load flow and power flow concepts
+ Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar degree from an accredited institution
+ Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar degree from an accredited institution will count toward years of experience

The Role
The National Data Planning team is accountable for managing capacity for the national data network infrastructure. A Lead Planner on this team is a subject matter expert primarily responsible for working with other planners to formulate projects to procure and install ethernet switch and IP routing telecommunications and information technology hardware, software, and connections to meet demand for data network growth and support new products. The Lead Planner also supports the optimization and right-sizing of legacy networks as older services diminish in favor of newer products.

The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Planning Engineer with a proven track record in planning and implementing Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) networks. The ideal candidate will possess the expertise to read and interpret fiber characterization results and demonstrate a strategic mindset to develop comprehensive plans for circuit identification, overbuilds, and grooming strategies. This role requires a self-motivated individual capable of working under tight timelines with minimal supervision.

The Main Responsibilities

Performs engineering work and applied research, development and design of new projects, to include design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of equipment and devices.

Analyzes complex local and wide area network systems and/or customer network environment, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges and other devices.

Resolves difficult interoperability problems to obtain operation across all platforms including e-mail, files transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing and the like.

Configures systems to user environments.

Supports acquisition and implementation of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services.
