Position Summary

Thales is looking for a Technical Pre-Sales Consultant who will be the technical interface of the solutions area team within the Identity & Biometric Solutions business line and will address customer's needs in order to offer the most appropriate technical solutions, in coordination with the Sales team for the IBS business unit portfolio of solutions.

Regulatory Compliance Requirements

Must have U.S. Citizenship in order to obtain the post-hire Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Clearance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and must be able to obtain post-hire clearance from the Committee on Foreign Investments in the U.S. (CFIUS) and Department of Justice.

This position will require successfully completing a post-offer background check. Qualified candidates with criminal history will be considered and are not automatically disqualified, consistent with applicable federal law, state law (the California Fair Chance Act), and local ordinances (San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, City of Los Angeles' Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance, and Los Angeles County's Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers).

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Drive the definition of solutions for prospects and customers.
  • Contribute to the development of technical business for new solutions or services (based on the field feedback.
  • During the bid process, lead the technical answer for the proposed solutions.
  • During the pre-bid phase, lead technical consulting and support to define the solution.
  • During the bid process phase, coordinate the technical requirements for bid answering, set up the POC when needed and ensure the following activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar technical field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience (e.g. Pre-Sales in hardware/software/computing/cloud solutions, or as a software developer/architect).
  • 3+ years of prior experience with functional technical requirements (for example: high level software architecture, databases, hardware, cloud technologies) and sharing those requirements/technical solutions in presentations to partners and/or internal and external customers.
  • Previous Biometric industry/Digital Identity solutions experience.
  • Excellent Team player with proven ability to accomplish goals through collaboration within a global cross-functional matrix environment.
  • Ability to operate effectively and autonomously across multiple teams in situations of ambiguity leveraging problem solving skills and a willingness to learn with only high-level direction.


Special Position Requirements

Summary

With a focus on consistently delivering customer experience from technical, soft skills, and sales perspectives, Presales Technical Support should have a broad knowledge of vendor products, architecture, and related programs. Presales Technical Support communicates with D&H staff to ensure that internal support and team members understand and are able to properly support sales opportunities. They maintain consistent communication with all regarding key initiatives pertaining to vendor programs to further grow profitable business. The Presales Technical Support provides specialized consultation, education, training, and sales resources to peers and external partners. This enables vendor and reseller success and acts as an extension of the vendor organization driving programs and vendor initiatives to channel partners.

The Presales Technical Support will work with Sales Specialists, Engineers, and managers to create and communicate tactical and strategic initiatives and forecasts aligned with the direction of the organization and divisional objectives.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Technical Solutions Inbox, answering all tier one technical questions and solution requests and sending tier two and three request to the appropriate sales engineer teams

• Answer phone technical questions and solution requests from customers

• Continuously educate yourself on the latest technology and vendor products we use to support our customers

• Track all customer requests, including the products and vendors used in your solution

• Assist the Sales Engineer staff in tracking customers request, reviewing and learning from advanced technology solutions

• Ability to think and act from a global/organizational perspective with a focus on sales

• Support technical training of sales specialists, reps and customers

• Proactively communicate & work with D&H sales teams to drive and promote vendor promotions, programs and floor days

• Work with D&H Resellers to broaden depth of vendor products & educate on the vendor solution

• Manage lead development, including sales specialists, reps so they can follow-up and help close business opportunities

• Provide support necessary to develop leads and follow them to closure

• Support partners directly in addressing pre-sales, and deal specific technical questions.

• Grow profitable sales and market share for the vendor within D&H

• Attend specific trainings with D&H and vendor personnel, in person and online, as needed or required

• Interact & engage with vendor or 3rd party Field Sales to turn leads into new business

• Engage D&H Outside Field Sales Reps

• Generate customer orders in computer system

• Back-up Solution Manger and Sales Engineer as needed with the Solutions Lab space and other technical spaces within the office.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Computer literate with a strong desire to learn more about new technology solutions relevant to our customers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer).
  • Professional written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • 1 to 3 years office experience is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience/education is a plus
