**Position Purpose:**
Develop and implement media strategies and public relations plans to engage and educate external audiences on Centene's mission, vision, goals and progress. Promote local, regional and national awareness of Centene's policies, values, and mission to a diverse audience including the media, general public, government and healthcare communities.
+ Ensure the media distribution of press clippings are timely and efficient and cover all relevant areas, issues and subsidiaries
+ Assist in the analysis of industry and competitive news that impact the organization, its subsidiaries and/or the industry and recommend action plans
+ Assist in the development and implementation of media and public relations strategies to support Centene and/or its lines of business
+ Develop materials to effectively support the communication plan, including press releases, brochures, newsletters and promotional opportunities
+ Assist in the development of target media lists, proposals for news stories, and coordinating media interviews with company executives
+ Build and maintain relationships with key media partners and continuously grow the positive reputation of the corporation
**Education/Experience:**
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field. 2+ years of media relations, public relations, or communications experience. 4+ years of media relations, public relations, or communications experience preferred. Experience working in a managed care, insurance, or healthcare environment preferred. Public or media relations agency experience and experience with monitoring tools is a plus. Outstanding communications skills (oral, written, and presentation). Excellent organizational and planning skills; ability to work quickly under pressure, managing and prioritizing multiple assignments.
Pay Range: $68,700.00 - $123,700.00 per year

**About the Role**
We are seeking an experienced, strategically minded director of media relations to play a key leadership role in shaping our corporate narrative and brand reputation through earned media. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of cultivating and owning relationships with influential journalists and editors, securing high-profile media placements for executives, and preparing C-level spokespeople to deliver a consistent and polished message to the market.
Responsibilities
In partnership with the communications leadership team:
+ Develop and execute a comprehensive media relations strategy that aligns with the company's overall communications and business objectives.
+ Cultivate and nurture relationships with key media outlets, reporters, editors, and influencers.
+ Craft and support media strategy, direction, and execution of external PR agencies and their multiple team members to amplify global company efforts.
+ Support the management of external PR agencies to amplify media relations efforts.
+ Proactively identify media opportunities, craft compelling narratives, and secure high-impact media placements.
+ Help prepare executives for media interviews and press events.
+ Coach and provide guidance for UKG spokespeople on executive presence.
+ Lead media-related event planning, including media briefings and industry engagements, to help secure press coverage for company-hosted events and news moments.
+ Support the development of press materials, including press releases, media kits, messaging documents, and briefing materials.
+ Monitor media and industry trends, providing insights and recommendations to leadership on emerging opportunities and risks.
**About You**
Basic Qualifications
+ Minimum 10+ years of experience in technology, business, or financial media relations, journalism, or corporate communications
+ Demonstrable success building strong relationships with top-tier journalists to secure high-profile media coverage
+ Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex information into compelling media stories
+ Excellent verbal and written communicator with exceptional storytelling and messaging skills
+ Experience handling sensitive media inquiries and conducting "on background" discussions with journalists

The pay range for this position is $159,900.00 to $200,000.00 USD, however, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location.
