The **Process Optimization Engineer** provides process technical expertise and services focused on technical support, including troubleshooting, monitoring, and optimization, to ensure optimum unit performance while adhering to safety and environmental standards. This role also involves small process engineering designs and project development support within area teams, interfacing with various departments across the refinery.
**Responsibilities May Include:**
+ Monitor and evaluate unit performance and maintain effective monitoring reports
+ Troubleshoot operational and process quality problems
+ Develop solutions for unit optimization and generate ideas for process design improvements
+ Provide technical content for operating procedures and detailed process specifications
+ Maintain and update P&ID's and equipment data sheets
+ Complete process hazard analysis and fulfill process safety management (PSM) requirements
+ Ensure full compliance with Management of Change (MOC) procedures
+ Develop and monitor key performance metrics for assigned units
+ Provide guidance to operations in line with environmental and operational requirements
+ Manage capital and operating expense budgets
+ Collaborate with other refinery departments and perform physical inspections including climbing ladders and towers
+ Utilize DCS and advanced process control systems to optimize operating units
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
+ Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering
+ 1 or more years of direct experience in refining and/or the chemical industry in the field of process engineering
+ Valid driver's license
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Catalytic reaction operational experience
+ Strong oral/written communication skills and the ability to interact and work in a team environment
+ Experience with process simulation programs such as Hysys, AspenPlus, or Petro-Sim
+ Computer proficient including applications for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
The **Ponca City Refinery** is located in Ponca City, Oklahoma, approximately 95 miles northwest of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Its facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes a mixture of light, medium and heavy crude oil delivered via pipeline from Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, the U.S. Rockies and Canada. Infrastructure improvements have enabled the delivery of locally produced crude oil by pipeline and truck. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels and anode-grade petroleum coke. Refined products are primarily distributed to customers by company-owned and common carrier pipelines to markets throughout the Midcontinent region.
