This position works out of our **Sylmar, CA** location in the **Cardiac Rhythm Management** division.
As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats.
**Engineer II Product Analysis** performs failure analysis on explanted biomedical implant product. Provide technical expertise to the Product Analysis Laboratory. Analyzes failures, develops and implements investigative protocols to identify root causes, performs circuit analysis, performs device and component level failure analysis.
**What You'll Work On**
+ Perform failure analysis on explanted long term biomedical implant product. - Work requires the application of theoretical principals, evaluation, ingenuity, and creative/analytical techniques to identify route cause failure mechanisms.
+ Must be able to meet deadlines on multiple assignments and be able to operate in a diverse cross-functional team environment.
+ Proactive in finding quality improvements related to Failure Analysis
+ May serve as lead and assign work to less experienced personnel and serves as a mentor when assisting less experienced lab staff in solving more complex problems.
+ Works cross functionally and collaboratively with Product Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Product Surveillance.
+ Aides in definition of test equipment as required to accomplish quality responsibilities.
+ Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
+ Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
+ Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelors Degree (± 16 years) Electrical Engineering preferred, or Engineering, Science, or closely related discipline OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience
+ Minimum 3 years
+ Relevant work experience in performing failure analysis.
+ Requires comprehensive written and verbal communication, interpersonal, facilitation, presentation, quantitative, analytical, organizational, and follow-up skills, the ability to meet deadlines on multiple projects as well as the ability to converse effectively with all levels of employees.
+ A documented record of delivering reliability engineering information which adds value to management's decision making process is required. Advanced personal computer skills including spreadsheet, word processing database management, and specialized applications. Must be able to handle multiple assignments. An advanced credential in relevant discipline/concentration. A relevant professional certification or designation. Previous experience in failure analysis and in the medical device industry is highly desirable. Academic or in-house courses in project management, Six-Sigma, leadership, Total Quality Management (TQM) and various technical applications as noted above are also desired.

The GRS North American Major Accounts underwriting team is hiring a Director, Product Analysis to support our Major Accounts Business. This technical professional works closely with the Major Accounts Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) and cross-functional partners (Underwriting Officers, Business Unit Leaders, Operations, Actuarial, and Data Science) to drive and monitor the profitability of the Major Accounts underwriting portfolio. Responsibilities include: managing underwriting initiatives across Major Accounts, conducting complex analysis to evaluate and shape the portfolio, monitoring key performance metrics, preparing and presenting reports and other deliverables. This role reports directly to the CUO, Major Accounts.

  • This position is eligible to be hired at different levels depending on experience*

If the selected candidate lives within 50 miles of one of our GRS office locations, then the candidate must be able to attend collaborative meetings in the office approximately two times a week although this is subject to change.

Job Responsibilities

  • Directly and/or indirectly leads work streams for projects involving the Major Accounts Office of Underwriting.
  • Provides thoughtful recommendations that influence decisions, initiatives, and underwriting strategy
  • Completes complex data gathering and analysis on drivers of performance and execution of underwriting strategies
  • Facilitates and develops recommendations for portfolio shaping based on analysis and discussion with partners
  • Creates and supports processes and tools to enable proactive portfolio management
  • Establishes key performance metrics to monitor portfolio quality, volatility, price adequacy, terms, and business strategies, as well as execution against portfolio objectives
  • Monitors and reports out on performance, deviations from plan, and insights and trends to cross-functional peers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or other quantitative field
  • Minimum 6 years, typically 8 years or more of relevant work experience
  • Master's degree beneficial
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis software (eg: SAS, Access)

The Process Specialist - Product Analysis candidate will be heavily engaged by providing valuable technical assistance to the Product Analysis engineering team in the development of discovery responses in complex product liability, warranty and class action litigation.

The selected candidate will also perform discovery coordination activities with electronic file format transfers, film to digital format conversions, long term document storage retrieval, website development, part drawing retrieval, and computer support. The candidate will also participate within the engineering community to establish relationships to support part number and drawing/model retrieval.

**Job Summary**
In this role, you will be responsible for performing testing of products for internal and external customers using a variety of analytical techniques. You may be assisting in developing procedures for instrumentation, test instructions, and test reports. You may coordinate the day-to-day receipt and shipment of samples in the laboratory and support the Laboratory team in administration and quality systems.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Perform analysis using various established or experimental techniques, instrumentation, and/or test methods while following standard operating proceedures (SOPs).
+ Uses critical thinking skills to analyze field failures to identify the root cause and documents findings per procedures. Is familiar with and utilizes a variety of root cause analysis methodologies to assess technical problems.
+ Uses software tools (Salesforce, MasterControl, Microsoft Office Suite) to document and manage investigations.
+ With guidance, assist in completing projects from protocol to final report.
+ Uses strong technical writing skills to communicate findings in a technical, concise, and effective manner.
+ Train new analysts as appropriate.
+ Exercises creativity in developing new test / debugging methods.
+ Keep current with new analytical techniques and technology.
+ Assist in preparation of technical reports, work instructions, SOPs, qualification documentation, lab study design and preparation in study plans and protocols.
+ Apply internal QA procedures and perform lab investigations, OOS, and OOT as required.
+ Actively participate in and complete all appropriate training tasks in a timely manner and meet individual and departmental goals as required.
+ Work independently and collaboratively with other technical experts, and laboratory management, making rational and sound decisions with self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
+ Support laboratory management in data quality-documentation, and archiving.
+ Maintain compliance to cGMP and ISO requirements and established safety procedures.
+ May utilize various inputs to schedule work, use Sharepoint, SAP, Excel files, and Word documents. Proficiently use MS Office products for data gathering, reporting, and data entry.
+ May handle Test Requests - write, review, and approve, and maintain traceability of samples.
**Additional Responsibilities**
**Education**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or a relevant scientific field preferred
+ High School Diploma required
**Work Experience**
+ No min required 0 - 3 years of experience required and
+ Experience working in a laboratory or cGMP/pharmaceutical environment preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Quality Excellence Team, including Quality Specialists and Quality Analysts of varying levels, ensuring alignment of assignments based on complexity and expertise.
