**Internship Summary:**
The Industrial Power Systems Division has an exciting two-year internship opportunity for the **Texas FAME Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT)** program beginning August 11, 2025, in the Seguin, Schertz, and San Antonio, Texas facilities.
The TX FAME Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) is a five-semester, Department of Labor recognized apprenticeship program. Interns earn their Associate of Applied Science in AMT which combines proven workplace components with the earn-and-learn model.
This position is a **_part-time paid internship_** where the intern will be assigned to a three-day work week at our facility and attend the TSTC college program two days a week.
In this role you will learn the necessary skills of a manufacturing maintenance technician and will develop working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, fluid power, HVAC, robotics, automation, machining and LOTO and OSHA Regulations. After successfully completing the two-year internship, you will have the opportunity to become a fulltime Caterpillar Maintenance Technician employee, propelling your career and experience in the assistance of building diesel engines!
**Additional Information:**
+ First year compensation hourly rate: **$18.05**

**What you will learn to do:**
+ Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on assembly equipment, in accordance with work orders and technical documentation under the support and guidance of supervision
+ Respond to service requests and work orders with supervision and direction
+ Use CMMS-generated preventive maintenance worksheets to maintain production facility's machinery and equipment according to the manufacturer's recommendations
+ Perform general building maintenance such as lamp replacement, simple construction, repairing overhead doors, and plumbing
+ Perform basic electrical preventive maintenance, to motors, lights, and electrical panels with direct supervision
+ Learn to operate and to maintain equipment such as fork trucks, conveyors, robotic equipment, and related tools and equipment
+ Lubricate production and material handling equipment in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules
+ Organize lubrication equipment and learn how to recommend changes to lubrication schedules
+ Submit tools/requisitions for lubrication equipment to the appropriate supervisor
+ Develop a strong electrical and mechanical fundamental knowledge
+ Learn to submit and to assist with the resolution of C.P.S. Continuous Improvement cards?
+ Practice the manufacturing core exercises to develop critical thinking and continuous improvement.

**Requirements for Continued Internship Employment**
+ To maintain employment as an intern with Caterpillar, you must successfully complete all elements of the AMT Program to remain in the program. These include a) Completion of the entire academic program (all courses and associate activities); b) Satisfactory completion of all work and other program evaluations; and c) Satisfactory completion of all the Manufacturing Core Exercises (Safety Culture, 5S, TPS-M, Problem Solving, Maintenance Reliability). Earn at least a 'C' in each course of the AMT Program
+ Meet the attendance requirements set for both school and work

**Essential Duties/Responsibilities** : Production Operator I will be expected to perform a combination of the following in a clean room work environment.
+ Store, retrieve, assemble, and clean molds
+ Load and unload ovens
+ Operate mill and extruders to manufacture preform
+ Operate presses, de-flash and inspect parts as necessary to ensure highest quality.
+ Set up and finish trim parts
+ Final inspection of parts using gauges, micrometers and other measurement tools as required
+ Store, retrieve, assemble, and clean molds for production
+ Operate assigned mill/extruder/press machines
+ Follow all Work Instructions, SOP's and SPCs to meet or exceed quality and production standards
+ Record all information on GT data collection system as required
+ Maintaining the production environment clean, tidy, and safe, including free of harmful elements.
+ Rotate through at least two operations to maintain annual certifications.
**Required Minimum Qualifications**
**Education/Certifications:** High School diploma or equivalent experience
**Skills and Experience:**
+ Must have the ability to learn and perform department tasks in a team-oriented environment.
+ Must have the ability to read, understand and perform work per the relevant work instructions.
+ Must be able to effectively operate equipment, execute process steps, prepare raw and semi-finished material, and inspect product during manufacturing stage.

+ Store, retrieve, assemble, and clean molds
+ Load and unload ovens
+ Operate mill and extruders to manufacture preform
+ Operate presses, de-flash and inspect parts as necessary to ensure highest quality.
+ Set up and finish trim parts
+ Final inspection of parts using gauges, micrometers and other measurement tools as required
+ Store, retrieve, assemble, and clean molds for production
+ Operate assigned mill/extruder/press machines
+ Follow all Work Instructions, SOP's and SPCs to meet or exceed quality and production standards
+ Record all information on GT data collection system as required
+ Maintaining the production environment clean, tidy, and safe, including free of harmful elements.
+ Rotate through at least two operations to maintain annual certifications.
**Required Minimum Qualifications**
**Education/Certifications:** High School diploma or equivalent experience
**Skills and Experience:**
+ Must have the ability to learn and perform department tasks in a team-oriented environment.
+ Must have the ability to read, understand and perform work per the relevant work instructions.
+ Must be able to effectively operate equipment, execute process steps, prepare raw and semi-finished material, and inspect product during manufacturing stage.
+ Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
+ Familiarity with SAP (or comparable system) and basic computer skills desired.
+ Strong work ethic and teamwork, willingness to learn new tasks, quality and safety mindset, maintain organized workplace, computer capable.
+ Ability to reach 50% of certification of Chemraz production line skill sets within XX months, as follows: milling, extrusion, cutting to length, mold handle, molding, line pull, post cure, finishing, purification, packaging, slurry, and cleaning molds.
