Job Description
We are looking for an established scholar with an excellent record in research on entrepreneurship. In our view entrepreneurship research spans multiple disciplines, drawing from economics, management, sociology, psychology, technology and operations, and finance. Scholars with an interest in social enterprises will also have an opportunity to engage with our Business and Society Institute, which among other activities, runs the Start: ME accelerator, a 4-month program that provides business training, mentorship, and investment to microbusinesses in four Atlanta neighborhoods. In addition to raising the visibility of entrepreneurship research at the Goizueta Business School, the selected candidate is expected to pursue two additional objectives.
First, they are expected to extend the capabilities and programmatic reach of the Roberto C. Goizueta Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI). Second, the selected candidate is expected to work with the Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship and various units of Emory University including the Robert W. Woodruff Health Sciences Center, on the commercialization of technology developed by graduate students and faculty at Emory University as well as clinicians throughout our vast healthcare system.

**Description**
The Suthar laboratory within the Emory Vaccine Center at Emory University is currently seeking an Assistant Research Scientist with a background in bioinformatics, modeling, and machine learning to join our lab. Our research uses a multiscale approach to study the immune response to emerging/re-emerging viral infections. We study the dynamics of virus-host interactions with innate immune signaling pathways, define host response at the single cell level, characterize tissue-specific responses using animal models, and model the immune response across organisms (mice, hamsters, NHPs, and humans). For this position, we are looking for a highly motivated, collaborative, and energetic individual that has expertise in analyzing data generated from multiome technologies (single cell RNAseq/ATAC-seq), spatial transcriptomics, and possibly BCR/TCR-sequencing.
The ideal candidate should be motivated, responsible, detail-oriented, have a positive attitude and works well with others. The Assistant Scientist should be a team player who is willing to learn on the job and collaborate with lab members and center members. The Assistant Scientist will work to ensure the highest quality of laboratory research support, and has good communication skills with co-workers, the management team, PI's, research staff, students, and other support services.
Under minimal supervision, the Assistant Academic Research Scientist performs a wide range of highly technical and complex tasks necessary to advance basic and/or translational research programs.
KEY RESPONSIBIITIES:
+ Responsible for working with experimental platforms specific to the hiring Program.
+ Duties will include but are not limited to experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation and communication of results of basic and/or translational research.
+ Will be required to review literature and apply advanced knowledge, skills, and input necessary for protocol development.
+ May assist in grant and other funding applications, as necessary and appropriate.
+ Performs other responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
+ The responsibilities of this position include management, analysis, interpretation, and integration of research projects.
+ Expected to meet deadlines and provide deliverables, manage time slots and workload.
+ Also involved in daily core activities that included maintenance of different software packages, updating and troubleshooting analysis pipelines, writing custom scripts and developing new visualization tools to make the data presentation to biologists.
+ Responsible for taking datasets from beginning to end.
+ Starting with preprocessing and quality control to fitting the correct statistical model to perform differential gene expression and Gene Set Enrichment to producing preliminary reports that summarize the most striking findings in the dataset.
+ Create presentation data that include advanced analysis portions (Network inference, Gene and Pathway activity plots, Custom module analysis, Deconvolution, Regression Analysis, Correlation of Gene Expression with Flow markers - Machine learning, Classification, Prediction, Validation).
+ Develop and implement tools and workflows to process, analyze and integrate different high throughput data
+ Supervise all phases of analysis from data processing and quality control through final analytical results and reporting.
+ Use of computational and statistical approaches from the fields of systems biology to model, and interrogate the molecular interaction networks.
+ Write manuscript for publications in scientific journals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ An ideal candidate should have a strong background in one or a combination of the following areas: Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, Molecular Genetics and Biomedical Science.
+ Preference will be given to candidates who have a solid understanding of biology/virology and have prior experience in omics data analysis.
+ Experience in statistical modeling and machine learning is highly desirable.

**Description**
Under minimal supervision, the Assistant Academic Research Scientist performs a wide range of highly technical and complex tasks necessary to advance basic and/or translational research programs.
This position will be tasked with performing molecular modeling and computer aided drug design including docking, QSAR, core replacement, and pharmacophore modeling. Candidate should have experience with the following software: Schrödinger (Maestro, Glide, molecular dynamics), Cresset (Flare, FEP), and GraphPad. Ideal candidate will also have wet lab experience including cloning, mammalian cell culture, and recombinant protein expression and purification.
KEY RESPONSIBIITIES:
+ Responsible for working with experimental platforms specific to the hiring Program.
+ Duties will include but are not limited to experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation and communication of results of basic and/or translational research.
+ Will be required to review literature and apply advanced knowledge, skills, and input necessary for protocol development.
+ May assist in grant and other funding applications, as necessary and appropriate.
+ Performs other responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ PhD
+ OR Master's degree and two years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab .
+ OR Bachelor's degree and four years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab.
+ Laboratory experience should be related to area of assignment.
+ Internship experience or experience prior to attaining the qualifying degree is not considered eligible work experience for this job classification.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS :
+ Ideal candidate will have a Doctorate Degree in Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Chemistry, or related discipline.
+ Experience in biochemistry and bioinformatics required.

A Ph.D. level scientist position with a focus on brain pathology and therapeutic efficacy testing of small molecules in epilepsy and Alzheimer's disease models is available in the laboratory of Dr. Thota Ganesh, Nick Varvel and Ray Dingledine combined laboratory at the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology, Emory University School of Medicine, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
The successful candidate will play a key role in experimental design, data collection and analysis. He/she will collaboratively work with a multi-disciplinary team of neuroscientists and medicinal chemists to acquire biochemical and histology data from in vitro and in vivo animal models.

+ Cell culture work, including creation of stable cell lines using vectors/constructs, and testing the novel compounds for potency evaluation.
+ Knowledge in statistical methods including probability and power analysis.
+ Ability to work independently in an interdisciplinary team environment.
+ Ability to discuss issues and developments with scientists with different backgrounds.
