What You’ll Do
- Create and review feature files, step definitions and scripts using Selenium
- Review requirements, specifications, user documentation, help files, and other project documentation to assure quality of the products and tests to be developed
- Select and develop appropriate test automation tools, applying the latest techniques in test automation;e.g., data-driven testing
- Work with the Development team to capture and reuse automated Unit Test Cases, Test Stubs and Drivers, and other Development test objects
- Work with the Release Engineering team to create and maintain an automated nightly build verification (“smoke") test
Research and document bug reports following agreed-upon processes immediately upon discovery of a quality problem - Update test execution status following agreed-upon processes as part of regularly-scheduled test status updates
- Trace test cases and results back to specific quality risks
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS or related field.

Position Overview:
This QA Engineer Automated 3 role supports quality assurance efforts for mission-critical projects at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). The selected candidate will design, develop, and maintain both manual and automated test scripts in support of software testing processes. The Quality Assurance Automation Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing automated tests to ensure the quality and functionality of software applications. Software Quality Assurance
- Ensure all software releases meet the required quality standards with minimal defects by rigorously testing the software through automation

What You'll Be Doing:
Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Karate DSL , JavaScript, and other relevant tools.

Build robust data validation frameworks using SQL , Python and other relevant tools.

Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into test cases.

Perform functional , integration , and regression testing for APIs, databases, and UI components.
-
Configure and customize test environments to align with client-specific needs.
-
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing.
-
Document test plans, test cases, and test results clearly and comprehensively.
-
Provide post-deployment support and contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and tools.
Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

5+ years of experience in QA automation, system integration, or software implementation.

Proficiency in Karate Framework , Cucumber , Robot framework or similar automation tools.

Experience with test management tools like JIRA , TestRail , or relevant tool.

Strong understanding of data mapping , data pipelines , and ETL processes .

Experience with scripting/programming languages such as Python , JavaScript , or C# .
