The Division of Neurorehabilitation in the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University seeks faculty candidates to help establish a new Pediatric Rehabilitation Subspeciality Service.
The Neuro-Rehabilitation Group, consisting of neurologists, physiatrists and advanced practice providers, will serve as the hub for new patient referrals and long-term management of neurology and non-neurological patients with physical, behavioral and cognitive impairments. Paired with the existing research infrastructure available through the Neurosciences Institute, including a world-class positron emission tomography core (PET), Stony Brook offers unparalleled opportunities to conduct cutting-edge research and recruit patients for various investigator initiated and industry-sponsored research trials.
Work in a beautiful, newly built multi-subspecialty practice location and enjoy a collegial and supportive environment with access to specialists across the continuum of neurorehabilitation care. Stony Brook is a 624-bed tertiary care facility with a catchment area of 1.5 M residents. It is home to the only Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level IV Epilepsy Center, 20-bed Neurological Critical Care Unit (NCCU), and Level I trauma center in Suffolk County. The vascular neurology team and interventionalists handle on-site support for inpatient stroke alerts (including the ED). The Division of Neurohospital Medicine serves as the hub of these inpatient and consultative services and supports a team of neuroscience-trained advanced practice providers.
Responsibilities include:
• Diagnosis and management of pediatric rehabilitation patients.
• Consultation of patients with rehabilitation needs in Child Neurology, Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgical services
• Help develop a Post-acute service to improve outcomes for pediatric patients being discharged from RSOM.
• Supervision of Neurology and PMR residents and medical students.
• Support efforts towards community engagement and education.
• Expansion of outpatient efforts on the east end of Long Island.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent). Eligibility for New York State licensure. Completion of an accredited Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency program. Board Certified/Board Eligible in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.Board Certification/Board Eligible in Pediatric Rehabilitation

-Provide hands-on therapy and instruction to patients.

Qualifications:
-Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
-Current License to practice as a Physical Therapist in Connecticut
