JOB SUMMARY & OBJECTIVES
The Data Reporting Analyst is responsible for the creation and distribution of regularly scheduled financial reports (e.g. billing, revenue, and statistical) within the Firm. This includes both scheduled and ad hoc reporting, with the goal of increased transparency and usability throughout the Firm. The Financial Reporting Analyst will be required to work across all levels of Firm personnel and collaborate across administrative groups (within Accounting and outside of the department).
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design and distribute monthly, quarterly and annual billing related financial reports centering on, but not limited to, billing, revenue, and various financial statistics.
• Assist management with the creation and distribution of report requests as needed.
• Ability to manage a large volume of reporting requests and reporting schedules.
• Develop and modify reports using 3E, Microsoft SSRS Report Builder, Ideate Dashboard, Microsoft Power BI Desktop, and other reporting software.

Salary Information
NY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000 at the time of posting.

The Reporting & Analytics team provides ongoing support and insight to external clients, as well as to the internal operational leadership team. The Data & Reporting Analyst must be able to review and analyze data, present conclusions in a logical and clear manner, and work effectively as part of a team, will provide and capture data and translate into information and reports and the transmission of this knowledge into actionable decisions.
Responsibilities- Data & reporting expertise
- Maintain up-to-date familiarity with Mercalis’ data sources/source systems
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert to provide recommendations and expertise for data & reporting capabilities to assigned programs and/or clients
- Investigate data anomalies (identified through own or users’ activities), communicate detailed findings to the appropriate person or group, and act as a valued partner in solution finding
- Work with programming environments, SQL, MS Excel, MicroStrategy, free-form SQL, Mercalis’ CRM platforms, and other applicable software or BI tools
- Advanced custom reporting
- Manage requirements gathering, specifications development, design and build of custom production-level reports for program ops, management, & client use
- Make & own deliverable commitments (substance, format, and dev time), and provide timely communications re: status &/or delivery challenges. When conflicts arise, negotiate agreement on a path forward
- Communicate clearly on requested deliverables, provide timelines and recommendations based on best practices, and prioritize work by accounts as necessary
- Adhere to all corporate policies and procedures governing access to and distribution of PII and other confidential data
- Systems & process improvement
- Identify opportunities to develop & implement solutions that streamline operations of frequent tasks
- Identify, define, and coordinate with other departments to connect our data and reporting in new and innovative ways to improve Mercalis’ suite of products and services
- Leadership
- Provide leadership and training to other team members on fundamental data mining and report creation techniques and applications
- Assist program staff in the understanding & use of self-service reporting tools, and the use and interpretation of Mercalis data

- Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar discipline.
- Must have 2+ years of client-facing experience.
- Experience interpreting data and presenting meaningful, client-ready business insights.
- Experience in data extraction, manipulation, analysis, reporting, and use of data visualization tools.
- Understanding of dimensional data modeling concepts and data warehousing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to elicit and fine-tune requirements and respond to/manage changes.
- Solid technical writing skills. Ability to clearly and completely articulate work to be done and describe tasks using proper terminology.
- Mid-level proficiency in SQL programming and common query optimization techniques.
- Med-Advanced use of Excel for reporting & discovery (identify trends, interpret issues, find disparities)
- Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, health care, insurance, direct marketing, or finance is highly desirable.
