This 1st shift Calibration Technician position will be located in the Howmet Research Center.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Calibrate measurement instruments on laboratory and manufacturing equipment throughout the Howmet campus, including dimensional, temperature, electrical, flow, mechanical and thermodynamic disciplines.
  • Perform temperature uniformity surveys on furnaces.
  • Assemble thermocouples.
  • Maintain equipment used for calibration, including sourcing/purchasing.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of calibrations, tests, inspections and prepare reports.
  • Develop, improve and utilize calibration procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve calibration related issues on process control and laboratory instruments in collaboration with maintenance and engineering teams.
  • Work in a team-based atmosphere toward improving the calibration, laboratory and manufacturing process.
  • Gain knowledge of industry and customer requirements for calibration and heat treatment pyrometry.

Additional factors affecting this position:
  • Must be able to drive locally among the Howmet Whitehall campus.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.
  • Travel to other Howmet facilities outside of Whitehall, MI, may be required.
  • Technician will have rotational off-shift on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years working in a manufacturing environment
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics) or two years of relevant experience in calibration, metrology, heat treatment or electronics repair.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
  • Experience with industry standards, such as AMS2750, AS9100, ISO9000, AS13000, Nadcap.
  • Apply knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, physics, and electronics to calibrate measurement and test equipment to ensure equipment meets the specification requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and auditors.
  • Can define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and deliverables for research projects and initiatives; coordinate with faculty, graduate students, and external collaborators to ensure milestones are met; monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Operations & Center Support: Support the center director and affiliated faculty in pursuing new research opportunities; assist in reviewing partner universities and coordinate the review process with stakeholders; organize workshops, seminars, and outreach activities and ensure compliance with institutional and funding agency requirements and maintain effective knowledge and resource management systems. Manage day-to-day operations and lead Center-wide meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship.
  • Master's degree in a related field (Engineering, Science, Business, or similar).
  • 5 years relevant experience with a minimum of 3 years of project management experience, preferably in an academic or research environment.
  • Familiarity with research processes, grant management, and compliance.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite.

About the Position:

The Project Manager will report to the Center Director Dr. Xinfeng Gao. This is a full-time in-person position, regular in-person attendance at meetings and events will be required throughout the year. The Project Manager is a member of the Center leadership, will have significant independence and authority to execute operations, and must exhibit strong professionalism. Candidates should demonstrate skills and experience commensurate with these expectations. Travel is required once per year to attend program review meetings. The position's start date is September 1st, 2025, and the starting base salary is in the range $90,000 to $110,000. This is a one-year appointment; however, the appointment may be renewed, contingent upon available external funding and satisfactory performance. This is an exempt level, benefited position. SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Outpatient Clinical Nurse position is to coordinate and implement patient care across the continuum of care. The Outpatient Clinical Nurse is accountable and responsible for providing quality, evidence-based patient care through the appropriate use of resources in collaboration with the inter-professional team. Acts as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights. Organizes and prioritizes work of patient care team; trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.

Clinical & Translational Research Center (CTRC) is an on-site resource for M.D. Anderson investigators performing early clinical trials; and where patients receive intensive monitoring for complex, early-phase clinical trials.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of clinical nursing experience preferably in oncology, research, med/surg and/or cardiac.

Shift: 12:00 pm - 10:30 pm rotating weekends and holidays with late patient coverage based on business needs.

CTRC Job Specific Competencies: The CTRC nurse has the competence and competencies regarding all aspects of administering and monitoring a variety of systemic cancer therapies and other injectable infusions to an adult population in the Clinical & Translation Research Center.

Infusions administered may include (but are not limited to) research protocols and standard of care chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy, blood products, IVIG, growth factors, antibiotics, electrolytes and hydration.

Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Has the ability to assess and educate patients and family/caregivers to ensure future care needs are met.

Develops collaborative, professional relationships with physicians and all members of the health care team, including research teams. Specific competencies include: IV insertion and venous access device management; Accurate administration and monitoring of infusions via a variety of routes (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous); Performing an independent double-check for chemotherapy administration; Safe handling and disposal of chemotherapy to minimize patient and staff exposure to hazardous drugs; Management of treatment-related side effects and adverse reactions; Minimizing the risk for infection among patients who are actually or potentially immunocompromised; Knowledge needed to facilitate early detection of specific side effects that lead to effective self-management of the side effect when it does occur.

Education

Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing (RN).

Preferred: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing

Preferred: Bachelor's degree with at least two years of clinical nursing experience preferably in oncology, research, med/surg and or cardiac.

*CTRC Job Specific Competencies:* The CTRC nurse has the competence and competencies regarding all aspects of administering and monitoring a variety of systemic cancer therapies and other injectable infusions to an adult population in the Clinical & Translation Research Center.

Infusions administered may include (but are not limited to) research protocols and standard of care chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy, blood products, IVIG, growth factors, antibiotics, electrolytes and hydration.

Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Has the ability to assess and educate patients and family/caregivers to ensure future care needs are met.

Develops collaborative, professional relationships with physicians and all members of the health care team, including research teams. Specific competencies include: IV insertion and venous access device management; Accurate administration and monitoring of infusions via a variety of routes (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous); Performing an independent double-check for chemotherapy administration; Safe handling and disposal of chemotherapy to minimize patient and staff exposure to hazardous drugs; Management of treatment-related side effects and adverse reactions; Minimizing the risk for infection among patients who are actually or potentially immunocompromised; Knowledge needed to facilitate early detection of specific side effects that lead to effective self-management of the side effect when it does occur.

* Education *

Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing (RN).

Preferred: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing
