The Role We seek a Research Lead to lead client-facing research under the Applied Research organization. This role is pivotal in providing deep quantitative expertise to top DeFi protocols and ecosystems including Uniswap, Near and Movement on how they can grow, optimize, and de-risk mechanisms within their various system. This person will lead a team of researchers to analyze on-chain and off-chain data, develop models, and provide actionable insights into the rapidly evolving crypto and Web3 ecosystem. This role requires deep expertise in blockchain analytics, quantitative research, statistical modeling, and strong leadership skills to drive data-driven decision-making and the ability to interface directly with clients. Responsibilities Own multiple clients by developing research roadmaps and managing the team responsible for executing these roadmaps at a high-quality bar. Support, grow, and develop a team of high-performing researchers capable of tackling DeFi's most complex problems. Perform in-depth mechanism design and research to develop the next generation of DeFi mechanisms and patterns. Develop predictive models, statistical analyses, and machine learning algorithms to extract insights into blockchain and market data. Work with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets, ensuring data integrity and efficient processing. Publish research reports and insights on blockchain data trends, protocol performance, and economic models. Attend international conferences to present Gauntlet’s research to the larger DeFi and Web3 community. Qualifications 7+ years of experience in research, data science, or mechanism design. Compensation
In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
Zone A (CA, WA, NYC) ( :
The base salary range for this position is $173,000-$59,000 annually.
Zone B ( :
The base salary range for this position is 164,000- 246,000 annually.
Zone C ( :
The base salary range for this position is 147,000- 220,000 annually.

About the Position:

The Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP) works with other units throughout campus to seek external support for faculty research, scholarship, creative activity and institutional projects that support the educational and service mission of the university. ORSP staff assist with proposal development (Office of Research Development), proposal submission, contract negotiation (Office of Grants and Contracts), and post award support (Office of Sponsored Programs), and help to assure that research and sponsored programs are conducted in accordance with the highest ethical and regulatory standards (Office of Research Compliance). We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Research Compliance Manager (Administrator I). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under general direction of the Associate Vice President for Research and Sponsored Programs, the Research Compliance Manager will lead the research compliance office and provide advanced level expertise and advice to principal investigators (PIs), faculty, committee members, students, and to departments, Centers, and Colleges regarding research compliance matters. The Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day administrative operations for all aspects of the Research Compliance Office. This includes support for compliance related activities and regulatory committees as well as database and training related activities. The Research Compliance Manager has full responsibility for all state and federal compliance requirements. Performs advanced level technical expertise and leadership to a highly complex and critical specialty organizational unit. Work is primarily strategic in nature with broad and far-reaching impact at the campus and/or system-wide level. Serves as the key technical advisor to management exercising considerable influence over strategic objectives and methods to ensure a smooth operational and compliant unit. The Manager is highly skilled and knowledgeable to independently manage and implement highly complex projects and business solutions with broad scope within and outside the organization. The position is highly visible, sensitive, with broad impact on- and off-campus. The Research Compliance Manager independently researches, conducts analysis, and develops internal procedures to adhere to state and federal guidelines; addresses problems from a broad interactive perspective using advanced research and analytical skills to conceive new solutions; oversees the day-to-day operations of the office; held accountable for short- and long-term goals and objectives. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
A master's degree from an accredited college or university or the equivalent in a field relevant to research compliance or research administration, along with experience in research administration, regulatory compliance, or Institutional Review Board (IRB)/human subjects protection administration. Advanced knowledge of research administration principles and practices, including knowledge of federal and state regulations and policies regarding research involving human and animal subjects, responsible conduct in research, export controls, conflict of interest, biosafety, and other campus policies. The ability to lead and manage research compliance administration on campus, along with performing advanced level technical expertise and leadership in a highly complex and critical specialty organizational unit. Skilled in independently managing and implementing highly complex projects and business solutions with broad scope within and outside the organization. Capable of independently researching, conducting analysis, and developing internal procedures to adhere to state and federal guidelines.

Experience reviewing faculty and student research protocols involving human subjects, as well as providing continuing education in human research. Skilled in administering the review, meetings, inspections, minutes, and education for an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). Experience in developing, maintaining, and administering compliance programs as the need arises. Able to track large numbers of protocols and related documents through the review, revision, and approval process for various research committees. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication style to varying audiences, with excellent organizational skills and the ability to compose clear and detailed correspondence, reports, and guidance to researchers, as well as reports to the ORSP. Capable of interpreting complex regulations and influencing, guiding, training, and serving as a resource to staff and others in their interpretation. Able to manage challenging situations with researchers on behalf of ORSP, IRB, IACUC, or Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). Skilled in organizing and planning workload and projects, including handling multiple priorities while making independent decisions and exercising sound judgment. Extensive experience conducting training sessions and workshops. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the workgroup, serving as an effective and professional liaison for ORSP with committees and governing federal agencies. Proficient in using standard office software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Preferred Qualifications:
Five years of administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs. An in-depth understanding of operational requirements related to the management and implementation of the research protocol review processes, with demonstrated ability to envision and articulate future direction, develop and enhance systems for committee review, and create policies and procedures that are comprehensive and practical. Advanced technical competence in a broad range of research administration and research compliance issues such as IRB, IACUC, COI, and RCR. Advanced knowledge of risk management as applied to research, with the ability to formulate a broad range of policy recommendations. Proficient in balancing regulatory compliance requirements against practical needs and limitations. Highly experienced in program development and problem-solving techniques. Completed the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) online course for working with human volunteers in research, as well as the CITI online course for working with animal subjects in research.
