About The Role
As a Robotics Application Engineer , you will play a critical role in supporting deployed products and spearheading new product development initiatives. You will be responsible for the assembly, testing, and refinement of our autonomous construction technology.
Your role will involve interacting with customers, providing both remote and on-site support, conducting rigorous testing before shipment, and leading training sessions to ensure customers fully understand robot operation and maintenance.

What You’ll Do
• Train and support customers both remotely and on-site (US and internationally) to ensure seamless operation of robotic systems
• Provide technical troubleshooting and diagnostics, helping customers resolve issues efficiently
• Assemble and integrate robots, leveraging skills in electronics, soldering, wiring, and motor calibration to ensure reliability and performance
• Conduct stress tests and field validation to confirm operational effectiveness in various conditions
• Assist in hardware and software upgrades, integrating new sensor designs and improving system functionality
• Develop and improve fleet management tools for scalable robotic operations and diagnostics
• Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and customer interactions
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and customer success teams to enhance product performance and customer satisfaction
• Contribute to customer success initiatives to ensure high adoption rates and satisfaction with our technology
What We’re Looking For
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in robotics, electronics, wiring, motor control (PID tuning), and troubleshooting
• Proficiency in GitHub and ROS (Robot Operating System), with at least 1 year of experience using these platforms
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to provide both remote and on-site technical support
• Excellent communication skills, with experience in documenting processes, training materials, and customer support cases
• Willingness to travel internationally 1-2 times per quarter for short trips and domestically up to 4 days a month

GCG is currently seeking an Application Engineer to join our Automation & Factory Solutions division in the Indianapolis, IN area . This role supports a key region and will provide technical, pre-sales, and post-sales support for automation controls and related technologies.
As our Automation & Robotics Application Engineer, you will work closely with the local sales team, customers, and engineering partners to provide technical and application support in both pre - and post-sale of Factory Automation ( PLC, or Programmable Logic Controllers, HMI, or Human Machine Interfaces , Control Software, etc.) , Robotics ( CoBot , or Collaborative Robots, and Industrial Robot ) , and related Safety product s . . You'll also participate in product training, lead customer demonstrations, and collaborate with the broader technical team to drive automation solutions in a highly collaborative environment.
While this role offers a hybrid work arrangement, approximately 30% travel would be required to facilitate onsite visits to customer sites both during and following sales processes to lend support with product related questions and demonstrations. Said travel would primarily be, but not limited to, a 100 mile radius surrounding the Greater Indianapolis area.

A day in the life
As a Software Engineer, you will:
- Identify and develop software solutions to current business problems
- Work with your manager and team to create milestones and deliverables
- Participate in daily scrums and reviews with development teams
- Develop documentation and lead reviews with other engineers
- Write code and unit tests and integrate code with other software and hardware components
- Prototype and test concepts or features, both through simulation tools and emulators and with live robotic equipment
