The Role You Will Play

Key Responsibilities

Environmental Management

Background Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline.

  • Compile and analyze incident trending data.
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of OSHA regulations and educate employees on changes.
  • Assist in the enforcement of all company safety programs, policies and procedures.
  • Oversee facility’s personal protective equipment program at assigned facilities.
  • Verify that safety equipment such as hearing protection and safety glasses are available to employees and monitor their use of such equipment to ensure proper fit and use.
  • Utilize and oversee management of corporate health and safety software’s for the facility.
  • Provide health and safety program support to the local Heaven Hill visitor center as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned

Who You Are…

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, or related field
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in an Environmental Health and Safety role in a manufacturing industry or similar
  • Experience with DOT compliance, workers compensation, and OSHA regulations
  • Ability to create training materials and train effectively
  • Ability to conduct effective investigations
  • Working knowledge of risk assessment programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, critical thinking and complex problem solving
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others
  • Knowledge and ability to build effective teams, encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members

• Project assignments include providing health & safety oversight on field projects involving hazardous waste, confined space entry, Haz Mat emergencies and other environmental remediation and construction work.

• Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.

• Develop and implement controls for hazardous conditions and practices.

• Developing site-specific health & safety plans

• Assist in the development of specialized education and training materials.

• Conduct specialized safety training including site daily tailgate meetings.

• Completes all required permits for job sites.

• Assist in new employee occupational health and safety orientation.

• Coordinate compliance activities and other duties as assigned.

• Other duties assigned by management

• Must possess strong computer and math skills along with strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

• Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.

• Attend and successfully complete related specialized and technical training and education seminars/classes that will relate directly to this position
