**_Position Summary_**
Reporting to the North America Director of Health, Safety, & Environmental with daily reporting to the Site Directors (Matrix Organization), the Claremont Health & Safety Manager leads in the development, execution, and maintenance of health and safety initiatives for two separate manufacturing sites (600 employees) located on the same campus.

The EHS - Health & Safety intern position focuses on designing solutions to mitigate workplace and community safety hazards. **Responsibilities**
**Assist the EHS Manager in promoting a positive safety and health culture on-site by monitoring near-miss incidents, identifying trends, and implementing corrective actions.**
**Support the injury investigation process by collecting data, conducting interviews, and recommending appropriate action steps to prevent future injuries or illnesses.**
**Conduct ergonomic assessments of production areas and recommend potential improvements to management.**
**Manage recordkeeping requirements related to injuries, illnesses, and hazardous materials.**
**Assist in developing and delivering safety training programs to employees.**
**Coordinate routine facility inspections to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.**
**Maintain accurate records of inspections, training sessions, and other safety-related activities.**
**Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address safety concerns and implement best practices.**
**Stay abreast of changes in OSHA regulations and industry guidelines, ensuring that the organization remains up-to-date with the latest safety standards.**

**Minimum Qualifications**
**Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a closely related field.**
**Available to work 30 hours weekly during school and full-time during breaks.**
**Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.**
**Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.**
**Excellent written and verbal communication skills.**
**Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.**
**Prior experience in manufacturing is preferred but not required.**
**Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards is beneficial.**

Responsible for the implementation and management of site-specific, comprehensive Health

and Safety programs throughout assigned locations. The comprehensive Health and Safety program will be defined by the parameters of the global Health and Safety Department, and company's Health and Safety programs.

Job Responsibilities

• Identify best practices and develop comprehensive, site-specific Health and Safety policies and procedures that drive a zero injury and zero preventable vehicle incident culture.

Qualifications

• Experience in dealing with regulatory agencies such as DOT, OSHA, and MSHA.

What the Role Is

The Health and Safety Specialist will assist in the implementation, and enforcement of all Heaven Hill organizational safety programs. This position will be responsible for championing a people centered culture and zero-incident state through accident prevention, policy enforcement, auditing and training. The Specialist will work in a team, to ensure the safety of all employees as well as the safety of any individual that may visit Heaven Hill facilities. This position will report to the Regional Health, Safety & Security Manager with a dotted line to the Director of Health, Safety and Security.

• Assist in the enforcement of all company safety programs, policies and procedures.
• Oversee facility’s personal protective equipment program at assigned facilities.
• Verify that safety equipment such as hearing protection and safety glasses are available to employees and monitor their use of such equipment to ensure proper fit and use.
• Utilize and oversee management of corporate health and safety software’s for the facility.
• Provide health and safety program support to the local Heaven Hill visitor center as necessary.

Who You Are…

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, or related field
• Minimum three (3) years experience in an Environmental Health and Safety role in a manufacturing industry or similar
• Experience with DOT compliance, workers compensation, and OSHA regulations
• Ability to create training materials and train effectively
• Ability to conduct effective investigations
• Working knowledge of risk assessment programs
• Excellent written and verbal communication, critical thinking and complex problem solving
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others
• Knowledge and ability to build effective teams, encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make appropriate decisions

• Project assignments include providing health & safety oversight on field projects involving hazardous waste, confined space entry, Haz Mat emergencies and other environmental remediation and construction work.

• Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.

• Develop and implement controls for hazardous conditions and practices.

• Developing site-specific health & safety plans

• Assist in the development of specialized education and training materials.

• Conduct specialized safety training including site daily tailgate meetings.

• Completes all required permits for job sites.
