**Responsibilities:**
+ Conduct and document required behind-the-wheel training for drivers.
+ Assist in driver recruitment process.
+ Conduct and/or participate in monthly safety meetings.
+ Conduct and document semi-annual behind-the-wheel driver evaluations.
+ Participate in the development and administration of customer safety awareness programs, and company-sponsored safety programs.
+ Review driver records from the state for violations and take appropriate corrective action.
+ Coordinate with safety and training supervisor to notify drivers of upcoming licenses and/or certificate expiration dates.
+ Review VCRs and perform administrative safety duties as needed.
+ Investigate, report and record vehicle accidents, work-related injuries and incidents.
+ Exhibits the highest ethical best practices and personal integrity; Shares concerns about suspicious or inappropriate behavior with their supervisor or manager

**Qualifications**
+ High school diploma or GED
+ Commercial driving experience required.
+ Thorough knowledge of Company regulations and state and laws relating to student transportation.
+ Appropriate vehicle class license, current medical and school bus driver's certificate.

+ Must be knowledgeable of adult training techniques.
+ Computer literacy, preferably in word processing and spreadsheets, excellent interpersonal skills, well developed written and verbal communication skills. Basic math skills,

**Job Summary**
The Safety Trainer is responsible for acting as the front-line safety professional conducting safety inspections, observations, investigations, safety training, and regulatory compliance for OSHA, DOT, and EPA. The Safety Specialist anticipates and predicts hazards based on experience, historical data, and other informational sources. They recognize and identify hazards in existing or future systems, equipment, products, facilities, work sites and operational work procedures. The Safety Specialist evaluates and assesses the probability and severity of loss events and accidents which may result from actual or potential hazards. The specialist applies methods of conducting hazard analyses and interprets the results. The safety specialist provides advice and counseling about compliance with safety, health and environmental laws, codes, regulations, standards, and the related company requirements.

+ Provide advice and counseling about regulatory compliance with safety, health and environmental laws, codes, regulations, standards, and the related Company requirements.
+ Inspect workplace facilities, including tools, equipment, and machinery, to identify and correct deficiencies or potential hazards, and to ensure compliance to OSHA / DOT / MasTec USG safety and regulatory requirements.
+ Assist local management in the investigation of safety-related damage incidents, employee injuries or occupational illnesses, and motor vehicle accidents to determine cause and contributing factors.
+ Conduct or facilitate safety training and education programs to supervisory and field employees through formal training classes, safety meetings, or other venues.
+ Recommend safe work processes and demonstrate personal protective equipment safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to workplace and environmental hazards.
+ Ensure tools, equipment, materials, vehicles, and technical instruments are fit-for-purpose, functional, calibrated, and the appropriate protective equipment, methods, guard, management systems are in place to reduce or eliminate the risk of employee injuries or illnesses.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct on your own and/or collaborate with carpenter & laborer unions, HR, training vendors, and internal SMEs to plan and deliver at least two corporate safety training sessions per week, following annual training calendar, supported by the Operations Specialist.

Serve as a subject matter expert on safety, health, and environmental issues; provide practical, hands-on guidance to employees, supervisors, and management to ensure safe operations across all job sites and facilities.

Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA and other applicable local and state regulations through the development, coordination, and delivery of mandatory and recurring safety training programs.

Create, review, and update company safety manuals, policies, programs, and procedures in response to regulatory changes and operational needs.

Maintain operational efficiency through effective use of Safety Management Software (KPA or other), ensuring accurate and timely documentation of safety activities such as toolbox talks, required trainings, observations, and compliance tasks.

Support administrative compliance initiatives including the company's Respiratory Protection Program, annual evaluations of existing programs, and required refresher trainings.

Coach and mentor site safety engineers by providing field-based observations, feedback, and development plans; support their continued growth through monthly trainings and tailored workshops.

Lead companywide communication efforts related to safety via general staff meetings, superintendent steering committee updates, and special communications like Safety Flashes and Lessons Learned.

Schedule and facilitate monthly Safety Engineer (SE) trainings and job-specific tailgate meetings aligned with emerging trends, incidents, and seasonal risk factors.

Conduct frequent site visits to evaluate training effectiveness, ensure program implementation, and directly engage with crews to identify and correct unsafe behaviors or conditions.

Analyze incident and injury data to identify trends and lead focused, data-driven injury reduction initiatives.

Develop and manage technical safety documents, including written safety plans, operating procedures, and internal manuals that clearly communicate safety expectations and best practices.


Required Skills:

* CSP or CIH preferred but not mandatory

* Minimum of 3 years directly related to Safety Training
