PRIMARY PURPOSE :

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Maintain a thorough and extensive knowledge of the assigned teaching field/level.
  2. Teach TEA/District/Campus approved curriculum.
  3. Meet and instruction assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  4. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students with challenging and varied interactive strategies/activities.
  5. Create a classroom environment that is attractive and conductive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  6. Provide students with the opportunity to perform and demonstrate their musical skills and knowledge.
  7. Guide students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior that conform to district policy and that encourage self-discipline.
  8. Steer the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc. and communicate these objectives to students.
  9. Diagnose the learning styles of students and teach to all modalities.
  10. Evaluate students' academic and social growth with a fair and impartial attitude, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
  11. Be available to students, parents and staff for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
  12. Initiate and encourage communication between the home and the school and interpret the school program and district policy to the community.
  13. Understand and support administrative decisions, guidelines, and instructions and assist in formulating campus and district policies when requested.
  14. Maintain a current inventory of all pianos, textbooks, music, uniforms, metronomes, computers, audio/visual aids, video cameras, records, cassettes, CDs, sound equipment, tape recorders, and all other equipment belong to the fine arts department.
  15. Maintain records for and spending of budget for repair, supplies and sheet music.
  16. Develop a public relations program that will keep the public aware of the accomplishments and endeavors of the program.
  17. Maintain a current edition of the U.I.L Constitution and Rules and have a thorough understanding of all rules, regulations, and dates that pertain to the programs.
  18. Be aware of any health problems that any students in the program may have and to see that any activities required of the student will not adversely affect his/her health.
  19. Be responsible for having each student in the program complete, have parent or guardian sign, and return to school a medical release/information form.
  20. Be responsible for all eligibility checks as required by U.I.L and PISD.
  21. Encourage students to participate in all areas of competition as it relates to the program.
  22. Be responsible for supervision of students after all activities until all students have let the area.
  23. Assist lead director with classes/performing groups as requested.
  24. Work cooperatively with intermediate other directors to promote long-range experience for students.
  25. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal/director of fine arts.

FUNCTION: The School Security Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all security and emergency preparedness programs for the school district. The Director must ensure a safe and secure environment for all students, staff, and visitors by proactively addressing potential risks, maintaining compliance with state and federal safety regulations, and leading crisis response efforts.

GENERAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSBILITIES:
  1. Supervise the daily arrival of students at the start of the school day.
  2. Conduct frequent regular security checks of the interior and exterior of the school.
  3. Supervise all grade level lunch detentions.
  4. Supervise dismissal of students.
  5. Assist the nurse, guidance counselors, and/or school administrators by conducting home wellness visits for students absent from school and/or concerns for a prolonged period of time.
  6. View cameras when requested for investigations such as theft, vandalism, and HIB's.
  7. Attend security meetings when requested.
  8. Conduct random locker searches at the direction of the Administration.
  9. Develop, update and enforce school safety and security plans in accordance with NJDOE and local law enforcement guidelines.
  10. Oversee the coordination and supervision of all security personnel
  11. Serve as the primary liaison between the school district and local police, fire departments, OEM, and emergency responders.
  12. Conduct risk assessments and security audits of school facilities on a regular basis.
  13. Develop and lead emergency drills, including lockdowns, evacuations, shelter-in-place, and reunification procedures.
  14. Provide training and professional development to staff and administration on safety protocols and crisis response.
  15. Maintain security-related records and documentation, including visitor logs, incident reports, and surveillance systems.
  16. Conduct monthly meetings with security staff and school resource officers.
  17. Recommend and manage the installation, maintenance, and use of security technology (e.g., cameras, access control, radios).
  18. Support the school in managing student behavioral issues related to safety and discipline, in coordination with the administration.
  19. Monitor trends, threats, and emerging risks, and recommend strategies for prevention and preparedness.
  20. Serve on student safety committees.
  21. Ensure compliance with Alyssa's Law and other New Jersey specific school safety requirements.
  22. Perform any other duties as deemed necessary and assigned by the Administration.

**Responsibilities**
This position is directly responsible for meeting an overall fundraising goal of $325,000 (participant income and corporate sponsorship) through exceptional volunteer recruitment and engagement, customer service and account management - **all while motivating kids to take their health to heart** .
+ Recruit and engage students through schools and districts in life-saving initiatives including **Kids Heart Challenge** and **American Heart Challenge** programs.
+ Implement strategies and initiatives to fully engage students through classroom challenges, activities and student assemblies (in-person and digital experiences).
+ Develop and cultivate relationships on an ongoing basis with teachers, principals and district superintendents.
+ Establish and maintain outstanding customer service with volunteers and other collaborators. This includes detailed planning and kick-off meetings to set schools up for success.
+ Manage and continuously update account information within our customer relationship management (CRM) databases and Microsoft products.
+ High volume account management that regularly involves working with 5-10 schools each day - in-person where possible or online/by phone.
**Qualifications**
+ **3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or other related experience.**
+ Ability to do daily local travel with minimal overnight stays; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis.
+ University/College degree or equivalent experience.

Position Purpose: Directs and manages the overall program of high school band for the High School. Provides students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band activities and ensures compliance with all state and Diocesan requirements. Reports to: Principal

Essential Functions:

  1. Directs high school instrumental performances including pep band, concert band, jazz band, soloists, and ensembles.
  2. Establishes performance requirements, enforces academic requirements, and verifies each student's eligibility to participate in band.
  3. Provides for band participation at extracurricular events, including concerts, football games, basketball games, pep rallies, parades, and community events.
  4. Organizes and implements band trips in accordance with district policy and regulations as well as student interest and ability. Arranges transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town events.
  5. Supports band booster club activities.
  6. Organizes and conducts tryouts for the band; informs administration and participants of final selections.
  7. Plans, rehearses, and directs musical experiences for the school and community with evening performances.
  8. Cooperates with the school administration in providing music programs for school productions, graduation ceremonies, and, as appropriate, civic functions that enhance the students' performing experience.
  9. Oversees scheduling and other arrangements for the rehearsals and concerts in cooperation with the building principal.
  10. Prepares students and required documents for District and State auditions and competitions; makes all arrangements.
  11. Maintains an accurate inventory of school-owned instruments. Controls the storage and use of school-owned equipment and materials; makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required.
  12. Submits budget needs annually to the principal in accordance with established timelines and guidelines.
  13. Orders all supplies and materials necessary for band-related activities in accordance with established district procedures and budget allocations.
  14. Develops and implements plans for the instrumental music program and shows written evidence of preparation as required.
  15. Prepares lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
  16. Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  17. Creates an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  18. Other duties as assigned by the principal or other administrative staff.
Other Essential functions May Include:
  1. Performance Responsibilities
    1. Choose all music to be performed during the marching band season.
    2. Conduct try-outs for drum majors and any special units.
    3. Conduct a Band Camp during the summer.
    4. Be responsible for the design of band performances.
    5. Supervise and direct all practices and performances of the marching band.
    6. Maintain the current pep band for select high school and/or district events (senior nights, basketball games, Syracuse University game performances, etc.)
    7. Maintain current competition participation.
  2. Administration
    1. Make recommendations for the hiring of marching band assistants.
    2. Direct, supervise, and coordinate the work of the marching band assistants.
    3. Plan practice activities and performances of the marching band in accordance with the School Policy for the marching band.
    4. Submit a performance schedule and bus departure time schedule to the high school principal.
    5. Maintain accurate inventory of all equipment and uniforms used by the marching band (i.e. uniforms, instruments, music, rifles, flags, batons, etc.)
    6. Be responsible for maintenance, repair, overhaul, and storage of all marching band equipment.
    7. Provide the high school principal with an accurate roster of marching band members for eligibility lists.
    8. Follow the guidelines in regards to student eligibility in extracurricular activities.
    9. Make appropriate arrangements for use of facilities and practice fields through communication with the Director of Athletics, the high school principal/president.
  3. Financial Responsibilities
    1. Work through the School Business Official for all deposits and expenditures for the Extracurricular Accounts, following proper procedures.
    2. Keep accurate records of all receipts, deposits, and expenditures.
    3. Prepare requisitions for inclusion in the Music Department annual budget, following proper procedures.
  4. Public Relations
    1. Serve as an advisor to the marching band booster organization.
    2. Maintain any websites and/or social media platforms associated with the marching band.
    3. Collaborate with the School Information Officer to prepare news media releases concerning scheduled performances and accomplishments.
    4. Assist the marching band organization in preparing for all competitions and fundraisers.
    5. Serve as a liaison between the marching band booster organization and the school administration.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Marching Band staff, volunteers, and students involved in assigned activities.

Education, Experience, and/or Certification Desired:
  1. Bachelor's degree, preferably in a music or teaching field.
  2. Valid PA Teaching Certificate or willing to obtain one.
  3. Minimum of five (2-5) years teaching experience.
  4. Demonstrates expertise in knowledge and teaching of instrumental music.
  5. Demonstrates expertise in conducting a competitive marching band.
  6. Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
  7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School may deem appropriate or acceptable.
  8. Must comply with PA State clearance requirements.

Position Details

The Musical Director is responsible for teaching, coaching, and leading all musical elements of the Upper School musical production. This includes working closely with the Director, Choreographer, and other members of the creative team to ensure student performers are prepared for a high-caliber, professional-level performance. The Musical Director fosters a positive, inclusive, and educational environment for student growth in musical theatre.

Essential Responsibilities

Pre-Production Planning
  • Read the full score and libretto; listen to cast recordings, rehearsal tracks, and reference materials
  • Research vocal style, range, and technical needs of the score
  • Collaborate with the Director and Choreographer to understand and align with the overall artistic vision
  • Help select and prepare appropriate vocal selections for auditions and callbacks
  • Edit/cut audition selections and provide recorded versions to share with auditioning students
Auditions and Casting Support
  • Attend all auditions and callbacks to evaluate vocal ability, musicianship, and character suitability
  • Lead vocal warm-ups before vocal auditions and callbacks
  • Teach and direct vocal excerpts during callbacks, and assist in running vocal callback
  • Provide vocal and musical input to support final casting decisions in collaboration with the Director and Choreographer
Rehearsals and Musical Preparation
  • Attend all scheduled music rehearsals (using piano, keyboard, or backing tracks as appropriate)
  • Collaborate with the Director and Choreographer to create a music rehearsal calendar, identifying which students are called for each number
  • Lead sectional and full ensemble rehearsals, including soloist and duet coaching
  • Create and share additional rehearsal materials (e.g., part tracks, recordings, sheet music) in a shared drive; communicate updates through the Stage Manager
  • Assist in making musical cuts and transitions as needed to fit production requirements
  • Create rehearsals tracks for individual vocal parts and work with students to improve technique, diction, harmonies, and expression
  • Assign microphones and create a detailed microphone tracking chart by scene and character
Technical Rehearsals and Performances
  • Collaborate with the sound engineer to set mic levels and troubleshoot sound issues
  • Attend all tech rehearsals to run vocal warm-ups, supervise musical execution, and offer feedback
  • Oversee or assist with the recording of "sweetener" tracks as needed
  • Attend all performances and lead vocal warm-ups prior to curtain
  • Participate in production-related events such as the rehearsal retreat weekend and cast party
  • Assist with load-out of musical/sound equipment after the final performance
Student Experience and Professionalism
  • Foster a supportive, educational, and professional rehearsal environment
  • Encourage vocal health, discipline, and collaboration among student performers
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with students, faculty, and families
  • Address student concerns or conflicts related to music in coordination with the Director
Production Goals
  • Support a high-quality musical production with well-prepared vocal performances
  • Provide a meaningful and enjoyable artistic experience for students

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree or post-graduate work in Education or a related subject area.
Teaching Experience
  • Proven experience in music direction, preferably in educational or youth theatre settings
  • Strong sight-reading, conducting, and piano accompanying skills (minimum intermediate proficiency)
  • Deep understanding of vocal pedagogy and musical theatre vocal styles
  • Ability to coach both solo and ensemble vocalists across a range of skill levels
