SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:

The Executive Director of Schools plays a critical role in the leadership, development and support of school-based principals. This position will provide school direction and oversight, district leadership, and will contribute to the building of systems and supports that increase student achievement across schools. Candidates must have demonstrated experience in coaching or supervision of others, school leadership experience and will have made significant contributions in their current leadership roles.

• engage principals in the formal district principal evaluation process in ways that help them grow as instructional leaders.

• advocate for and inform the coherence of organizational vision, policies and strategies to support schools and student learning.

• assist the district in ensuring the community of schools with which they engage are culturally/socially responsive and have equitable access to resources necessary for the success of each student.

• engage in their own development and continuous improvement to help principals grow as instructional leaders.

On a regular day, as the Executive Director of Schools, you might:

• lead strategic change that continuously elevates the performance of schools and sustains high-quality educational programs and opportunities across the district by making school visits within your learning community.

• perform various other duties and responsibilities as assigned to coach and support individual principals and engage in effective professional learning strategies to help principals grow as instructional leaders.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

• Master's degree in Education Administration,

• 3 to 5 years of experience as a classroom teacher and 6 to 9 years of experience as a school principal; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Hold or eligible for Indiana administrator's license

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense strategies to carry out classroom instructions presented in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Adapts school and classroom environment, tools and materials for the purpose of improving student functioning and facilitating student access to curricular and instructional activities.
  • Assesses students' fine motor and development skills (e.g. oral motor, sensory integration, motor planning, developmental function, activities of daily living, fine motor function postural tone, etc.) for the purpose of determining their deficits and developing recommendations for the Case Conference or 504 Committee to ensure student access and improvement of well-being.
  • Attends meetings and workshops (e.g. IEPs, training, team meetings, conferences, meetings with outside agencies, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving information, including best practices for school OT delivery.
  • Consults with occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech and language pathologists, teachers, educational assistants, families, etc. for the purpose of providing requested information, reviewing/revising students' occupational therapy goals/objectives, developing plans for services and/or making recommendations to implement goals.
  • Implements therapeutic activities and instructs students, teachers, parents and other involved persons for the purpose of providing appropriate care (e.g. positioning, adjusting special equipment, etc.) to students and/or supporting the student's IEP plan for use in the classroom.
  • Maintains files and/or records (e.g. progress reports, activity logs, etc.) in cooperation with a collaborative team for the purpose of documenting activities and/or ensuring an up-to-date trail for compliance with various state, federal, and administrativeregulations. This includes client/student notes within 7 days of treatment as required by the Indiana State Licensing Board.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Working Environment

The Speech-Language Pathologist in the school setting isresponsible for performing student evaluations as well as providing anddocumenting therapy services in accordance with the plan of care developed foreach individual student and the physician's orders.
Minimum Requirements:
+ Active SpeechLanguage Pathologist (SLP) Licensure in the state of assignment required
+ Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-LanguagePathology (CCC-SLP) preferred and may be required by state/contract.
+ Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
+ Current CPR if applicable
