The Stanford University Protein and Nucleic Acid Facility in the Beckman Center is seeking a Life Science Research Professional 1 (LSRP1) to join the Genomic Analyses group. The LSRP1 will be responsible for executing genomic technology and molecular/cellular biology experiments as well as participate in general lab maintenance. The candidate must be self-motivated, detail oriented and thorough, and be capable of working both independently and in a team environment.
Ideal skills for this position include and are not limited to the following:
- Experience and excellent hands-on skills in cell and molecular techniques such as Nucleic Acid QC (Agilent Bioanalyzer, Fragment Analyzer), DNA sequencing and Fragment Analysis (ABI DNA analyzers), PCR techniques (qPCR) and Pyrosequencing (Qiagen PyroMark) using molecular biology procedures.
- Ability to gain new skills in new technologies and processes.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills are required.
- Meticulous and accurate record keeping.
- Ability to work in a team environment.

Duties include*:

The Kumar laboratory’s long-term goals are to identify the cells, cell behaviors, and interactions that give rise to pulmonary vascular disease, delineate the molecular pathways that control them, and determine how they can be manipulated to prevent or reverse disease.
The selected candidate will employ cutting-edge genetic and single-cell approaches, including single-cell RNA-sequencing and spatial transcriptomics in mouse and human patient tissues, high-resolution deep tissue imaging, in vivo lineage tracing, and pharmacologic manipulation in mice to discover how cell patterns, behaviors, interactions, and functions are altered in pulmonary disease.
The LSRP will perform experiments under the supervision of the PI. The job requires someone who is independent and trustworthy, capable of maintaining their own schedule to achieve hours outlined in posting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working on several ongoing projects simultaneously with multiple lab members, highlighting the need for meticulous note taking, time management, and excellent communication skills. S/he may be expected to troubleshoot existing protocols and develop novel protocols and procedures. The LSRP will be responsible for managing the lab’s mouse colony. The position will also entail some lab support tasks such as ordering and maintaining lab supplies and equipment, maintaining lab records, and adhering to safety regulations. About the Job
The North Central Research and Outreach Center (NCROC) in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, seeks a qualified individual to fill the Plant Science Research Supervisor position. This position provides leadership for NCROC's plant science research team, with responsibilities that include supervising staff and students, coordinating land-use
planning, and managing rotational cropping systems that support plant and livestock research. The supervisor will collaborate closely with internal and external researchers to ensure research integrity and efficient use of resources. The position requires strong leadership and communication skills, the ability to balance multiple research priorities, and the initiative to foster a productive, collaborative, and safe work environment. This is a 12-month, full-time position that reports directly to the NCROC Director of Operations.
Specific Responsibilities include, but are not all inclusive:
1. Management and Coordination of Plant Science Activities (45%)
a. Develop, manage, and implement effective land and agricultural management plans for active research plots, rotational land, and livestock feedstock.
b. Oversee greenhouse use, activities, and infrastructure.
c. Serve as liaison between research projects and station staff, coordinating research requests and ensuring protocols are followed.
d. Allocate space for specific research projects in consultation with PIs and oversee implementation.
e. Maintain detailed records associated with plant science activities.
f. Support outreach activities for NCROC events and other engagement opportunities.
2. Supervision and Leadership (30%)
a. Direct and supervise 3-6 plant science research staff, technicians, equipment operators, and seasonal labor.
b. Provide mentorship, training, and performance reviews for team members.
c. Develop and implement performance management initiatives, professional development, and employee engagement activities.
d. Collaborate with other NCROC program leaders to align resources and support cross-program needs.
e. Maintain work hour records for students and summarize direct team work hours per research project.
3. Research Field Support and Data Management (25%)
a. Operate, maintain, and calibrate field plot equipment to meet research objectives (e.g., tillage, planting, fertilization, pesticide application, harvest).
b. Oversee collection and entry of research, cropping and weather data into multiple tracking systems.
c. Monitor progress of experiments, sample processing, and data collection to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Essential Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in a related field plus at least five years of relevant experience, including formal supervisory responsibility; OR advanced degree plus at least three years of relevant experience;
OR a combination of related education and work experience totaling at least nine years.
2. Experience with agricultural production practices.
3. Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience.

What You'll Do:
+ Assist in handling Regulatory seed lots required for global Regulatory studies. This includes assisting in seed receipt, inventory, sub-sampling, cleaning, treating, packet printing, filling, scanning, devitalizing, grinding, shipping, sample retention, and discard utilizing Corteva databases and compliance systems.
+ Assists the Controlled Environments team in the growth chamber, greenhouse, and field in support of Seeds Regulatory Science studies (e.g., leaf punching, plant maintenance and sample collection).
+ Assist in sample handling and processing used for data generation within regulatory report submissions.
+ Assists with other team activities including handling of bulk grain lots and grain diet preparation work for animal feeding studies.
+ Responsible for understanding, complying with, and using all required Corteva database systems and relevant Corteva compliance and GLP policies, when conducting seed and grain activities, plant handling and discarding, and sample distribution.

The Kumar Lab, within the Division of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine, is seeking a Life Science Research Professional to assist on a project studying the cellular and molecular mechanisms that control the development, maintenance, and repair of the pulmonary blood vessels of the mouse, with the long-term goal of understanding and treating pulmonary vascular disease. The Kumar laboratory's long-term goals are to identify the cells, cell behaviors, and interactions that give rise to pulmonary vascular disease, delineate the molecular pathways that control them, and determine how they can be manipulated to prevent or reverse disease.
The selected candidate will employ cutting-edge genetic and single-cell approaches, including single-cell RNA-sequencing and spatial transcriptomics in mouse and human patient tissues, high-resolution deep tissue imaging, in vivo lineage tracing, and pharmacologic manipulation in mice to discover how cell patterns, behaviors, interactions, and functions are altered in pulmonary disease.
The LSRP will perform experiments under the supervision of the PI. The job requires someone who is independent and trustworthy, capable of maintaining their own schedule to achieve hours outlined in posting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working on several ongoing projects simultaneously with multiple lab members, highlighting the need for meticulous note taking, time management, and excellent communication skills. S/he may be expected to troubleshoot existing protocols and develop novel protocols and procedures. The LSRP will be responsible for managing the lab's mouse colony. The position will also entail some lab support tasks such as ordering and maintaining lab supplies and equipment, maintaining lab records, and adhering to safety regulations. The candidate will be mentored by faculty and will be encouraged to contribute to publications, present work at meetings, participate in weekly lab meetings; and motivated candidates will have the opportunity to lead projects.
**Duties include:**
· Routine maintenance of the lab's mouse colony. This means working with the PI and other researchers to determine needed genotypes for experiments, designing the genetic crosses to generate those animals, weaning and genotyping cages in a timely and accurate manner, and maintaining detailed searchable records.
· Will be expected to assist with regulatory aspects of animal research, including IRB submissions or APLAC protocols.
· Plan approach to experiments in support of research projects in lab based on knowledge of scientific theory.
· Independently conduct experiments; maintain detailed records of experiments, archiving of data and tissue specimens, and outcomes.
· Interpret and perform analyses of experiment results; offer suggestions regarding modifications to procedures and protocols in collaboration with senior researcher and lab members.
· Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new procedures and apply learnings to related research.
· Contribute to publication of findings as needed. Participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals.
· Help with general lab maintenance as needed; maintain lab stocks, manage chemical inventory and safety records, and provide general lab support as needed.
