What you will do
As a critical part of the team, the Commercial Installer works onsite with our commercial customers to set up and program their Integrated Security fire and security systems. The Commercial Installer also dismantles and reconstructs equipment when necessary.

The Security Systems Engineer will be responsible for the technical management of security infrastructure supporting both Windows and Linux-based network platforms. SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the VP IT Infrastructure, this position is responsible for the engineering, support, maintenance, and implementation of APGFCU's on-premise and cloud-based IT infrastructure and cyber security tools. This includes hardware & software, cloud services acquisition, installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security. This person will need to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish corporate goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Systems Design and Engineering:
- Design, deploy, and maintain the credit union's corporate on-premise and cloud infrastructure including networking, firewalls, IPS/IDS, VDI, and virtual and physical servers (Linux, Microsoft, VMware, ESXi, Azure); carry out the infrastructure maintenance and configurations for backup and disaster recovery purposes.
- Work directly with firewalls (Meraki/Palo Alto), IDS, IPS, and other security tools and infrastructure.
- Proactively monitor on-premise, IaaS, and cloud systems for performance, stability, security, and capacity management and prevent and resolve any issues.
- Use network monitoring, vulnerability management and SIEM tools to examine network traffic and identify both external and internal threats to ensure security controls meet the APGFCU infrastructure guidelines and industry best practices.
- Design and implement a multi-layer security strategy to protect APGFCU information assets.
- Implement and maintain on-premise and cloud infrastructure and security controls including enhanced detection, data loss prevention, event correlation and vulnerability management capabilities.
- Perform network troubleshooting as needed; work with 3rd party vendors and ensure continuous infrastructure availability; 24x7x365. Must be available to work after hours and be part of on call rotation
- Engineer security controls on APGFCUs infrastructure to include LANs, WANs, Firewalls and Cloud services.
- Implement and administer firmware and patch management for all IT hardware and operating systems (Linux, Windows Server, VMware; Firewalls, routers and switches)
- Design, deploy and configure security configurations such as SSO, MFA, centralized logging, DLP, and encryption to protect credit union's information systems.
- Create scripts to automate task and configuration items using PowerShell and other scripting tools.

Job Description This is a mid-level PKI configuration management and engineering position focused on systems accreditation and authorization per NIST 8005.53 within the Vanguard 2.2.1 program.
The preferred candidate must possess good system engineering background and expertise in Systems Authorization and Accreditation (A&A), and NIST 800-53. Additionally, the preferred candidate should have some experience in providing IT engineering support in large enterprises.
This is a hybrid role and requires 3 days per week onsite in Springfield, VA. Some onsite work in Washington, DC may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts preventative maintenance inspections and testing of datacenter physical security systems, performing non-invasive maintenance, documenting deficiencies, and developing corrective action plans to resolve those deficiencies.
- Travels to support AGC datacenters in other locations as requested.
- Assists, where requested, in the changing of lock combinations, key cores, and other access control devices at the direction of Microsoft personnel.
- Assist, where requested, in the changes to physical security system programming and configuration at the direction of Microsoft personnel.
- Assists, where requested, in the inspection and commissioning of physical security systems and devices under the direction of Microsoft personnel.
- Maintains accurate inventory of spare parts and devices for each datacenter, facilitating the order of replacement items and making recommendations on adequate reserves of spare parts and devices.
- Escorts security service personnel conducting maintenance on physical security devices, as required. Facilitates and trains supplemental escorts to do the, when necessary.
- Observes and inspects the work of security systems technicians and provides feedback to the technicians and Microsoft site personnel regarding the completeness and quality of the work performed. Maintains system repair logs documenting the name(s) and companies of service personnel, dates, repairs conducted, deficiencies, and other relevant details for each security system repair.
- Provides regular reports to site management and AGC leadership regarding the status of physical security systems,
- Tracks and reports on the status of all security related trouble tickets, including those for security systems, security tools (i.e. DCAT, computer workstations), and other security devices from initial submission through resolution and closure.
- Reviews trouble tickets, performs initial troubleshooting of reported problems, documents necessary details, and forwards unresolved tickets to the appropriate team for resolution.
- Troubleshoots the potential external causes of false alarms, including working with Critical Environments and facilities maintenance staff to review HVAC activations, loose devices, and other potential alarm causes.
- Ensures that Intrusion Detection Systems are inspected and tested in accordance with UL2050, ICD705, and other applicable requirements.
