University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a Full-Time Psychologist I to help support the Center for Counseling and Cancer Support.
Hours: Monday-Friday, typically 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Location: Shadyside Medical Building, Ste 604
Department Details: Center for Counseling and Cancer Support provides psychologic care and medication management for psychiatric symptoms in those dealing with a cancer diagnosis themselves or serving as caregiver to someone with cancer. We provide evidenced based treatment for management of symptoms often seen in cancer, including but not limited to adjustment reactions, depression, anxiety, sleep-related issues, cancer related cognitive impairment, cancer related fatigue, body image issues, sexual health concerns, survivorship issues, etc. Job affords opportunities for teaching clinically and didactically. Opportunities for professional education are included. Hybrid flexibility can be available. In this role, you will be providing individual psychotherapy, including providing accurate diagnosis and development and implementation of a psychotherapy treatment plan. Other responsibilities include care coordination with oncology providers, participating in multi-disciplinary team meetings.
**Purpose:**
Provides evaluation and treatment of patients with a variety of neurodevelopmental, behavior and/or mental health concerns. Provides diagnostic interviews/assessments with patients and/or families, conducts appropriate testing as needed, and provides feedback and recommendations to patients, families, and/ or community agencies/providers. May function as a sub-specialist within the unit or provide specialty services for other programs. Coordinates with care teams to plan behavioral health treatment across levels of care.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Provides crisis sessions to support and assist patients experiencing acute distress and/or symptoms, as needed.
+ Provides behavioral health services, using empirically validated treatments and interventions.
+ Participates in regular supervisory meetings with direct supervisor to review adherence to program standards.
+ Demonstrates ability to maintain accurate and complete records and data collection, performed in a timely fashion.
+ Demonstrates highly developed knowledge and skill in the area of differential diagnosis of psychiatric disorders.
+ Consults and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams regarding patient care and treatment planning.
+ Maintains current knowledge of relevant literature and empirically validated treatments.
+ Performs psychological assessment with accurate diagnostic impressions.
+ Provides behavioral health services using an acute and maintenance model.
+ Schedules sufficient volume of patients so that direct service productivity standards are maintained within the department.

+ Doctoral degree in Psychology (PsyD or PhD) from an accredited institution.

Administer tests and assessments, including the Penile
Plethysmograph (PPG), ABEL screening, STABLE, Static 99, Affinity within scope of licensure, certification and training. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, case conferences, case presentations, staff development meetings and training activities.
Provide clinical support and back up to other clinical staff as needed, including state hospital clinical staffing. Work cooperatively in weekly individual clinical and administrative supervision with the Clinical Director. Perform administrative duties including documentation of work hours, correspondence and coordination with other clinical and facility staff, etc.
Document inappropriate or dangerous behavior as requested of staff if that behavior puts the residents either in danger or serves to present poor role modeling.
Collaborate with individual county mental health systems to develop their capacity to manage and treat individuals with sex offending behaviors within the community.
Identify existing resources within Pennsylvania to provide aftercare support services for Act 21 and state hospital clients with sexual offending behaviors.
Develop and implement protocols for discharge planning and continued community care for those clients discharged from the Act 21 program.
Collaborate with the PA county court system and the Juvenile Court Judges Commission to develop judicial guidelines regarding conditional release.
Assist in the development and implementation of individualized aftercare plans for SRTP residents nearing discharge.
Provide support for county mental health systems who are currently managing/treating clients who have been discharged from SRTP.
Ability to assess treatment goals and write goal-directed, individualized treatment plans and discharge plans, as well as the ability to monitor treatment plans to meet changing treatment goals specifically dealing with sex offense issues. Ability to instruct others in the implementation of therapeutic and behavioral interventions and procedures.
Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with the diagnostic nomenclature outlines in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, TR Edition (or most recent updated edition)
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport and maintain objectivity with a sex offender population.
Appreciation of the need for and ability to maintain appropriate personal boundaries in working with sexual offender population.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or higher in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Must be fully licensed by the State Board to provide therapy independently and without supervision (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, LCPC, LCSW-C, LISW, or LP).

Pay: $72-$99 per hour. Pay rates are based on the provider license type, session location, and session types.
