Job Description Team building innovative applications in the area of catastrophe risk modelling using modern technologies, practices, and tools such as Golang, React, D3, Git, etc. Client coordinates a network of 20+ research institutions that provide scientific information on natural hazards and risk around the world. Client uses this information to advise our reinsurance and insurance clients on financial risk arising from these catastrophes. Client deploys its knowledge and advice through modern internet-based web systems in addition to providing traditional consulting services. Client is also heavily involved in the design of parametric insurance solutions, such as CAT bonds and other Insurance-Linked Securities. The candidate will work closely with our colleagues to support execution and deployment of these activities and products through advanced web applications. This consultant must have previously worked in or have knowledge of the following Industries: Industry #1: Reinsurance Industry #2: Insurance Industry #3: Financial Services Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain our system of web applications Communicate with analyst teams to ensure their needs are understood and met Communicate technical concepts, methods and results to technical & non-technical audiences Design the visual aspect of our pages, GUIs, and graphics Develop critical understanding of risk modelling methodologies Design and implement methodologies for evaluating catastrophe risk models Meet with clients and colleagues to present our tools and products Qualifications and Education/Experience Requirements A degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or similar technical subject Some industry experience Candidates with other backgrounds will be considered, as long as they can prove their expertise Knowledge of several programming languages would be a plus but is not required. Preferable languages include, but not limited to C or C++; Golang, React, D3, Git, etc. (programming skills will be tested during the interview process) Must be comfortable working in a Linux environment and using open source tools Provable ability to solve technical problems and communicate clearly Excellent analytical skills Provable ability to problem solve and communicate clearly (candidates will be asked to deliver a 15 minute presentation on a topic of their choosing followed by a Q&A from the team) Excellent writing skills and documentation discipline (samples of brief technical articles/papers may be submitted for the interview, if available) Scientific curiosity and eagerness to learn about the application of science in insurance Interest/experience in sysadmin, devops, monitoring. and relational databases, all a plus Additional Qualifications MUST be organized and have a strong ability to focus on and pay strict attention to detail. Strong analytic skills for constant review of complex code, data, and scientific information. Thorough knowledge of insurance/reinsurance concepts. Thorough knowledge of programming concepts. Solid ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, etc Strong verbal and writing skills for internal communications High degree of initiative to take lead role one their own and within team and to manage work to completion. Ability to find creative solutions to new problems as they arise. Strong ability to work cooperatively with others. Ability to work with the team in manager's absence without direction. Job Summary:

Seeking a Software Consultant to support the Office of Information Systems (TC) within the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to provide expert advice and assistance to improve and implement software systems.

An Active Secret Clearance is Required.

This position requires the candidate to be on-site 2-3 days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely for the remaining days.

Some of these include, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), staying focused on the assigned tasks, and completing other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Understand the client's goals, technical requirements and challenges
• Design and develop software solutions that meet the client's needs
• Engage in project lifecycle, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables
• Monitor software for updates and security
• Guide the client through software solution implementation process.
• Address issues that might arise during or after the implementation phase
• Brief client on latest developments in software and related technologies
• Keep client updated with new software development technologies or solutions
• Supports the review of database systems from non-Concorde applications in other DEA offices
• Participates in daily Agile stand-up meetings and monthly planning sessions, sprint reviews, and retrospective sessions
• Other duties as assigned
  

Basic Qualifications:

• 5+ years of software/web development experience

• 5+ years of experience in the design, development and implementation of databases

• 2+ years of ASP.Net, ASP.Net Core, C# MVC/ Core based web development experience using Visual Studio 2017 or higher

• 2+ years of SQL Server, Creating and Maintaining T-SQL Procedures, functions, and triggers

• 2+ years of experience with Agile development methodologies

• 2+ years of decoupled application development experience leveraging Message Queuing

• 2+ years of React.JS or Angular experience

• 2+ years of JavaScript, JQuery, HTML, CSS experience

• 2+ years of ORM frameworks, Entity Framework preferred

• 1+ year(s) of experience with Application or Enterprise Search

• Elasticsearch (ELK stack) experience is a plus

• Strong diagnostic skills for troubleshooting code defects

• Experience with automated testing (unit tests and/or coded UI tests)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with data analysis tools like IBM I2
  
• RabbitMQ message broker experience
  
• Experience with microservices architecture
• Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipeline
• Experience with Azure or AWS Cloud Computing
• Extensive knowledge in software development methodologies and programming languages

SUMMARY

The Software Consultant works in a team environment to develop and enhance code for the Concorde framework to be utilized by teams of Concorde Developers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Daily utilization of Agile development methodologies.
• Responsible for code reviews of team members.
• Participate in meetings, discussions and demonstrations of applications and associated data in the development of applications in the classified, unclassified, and sensitive environments.

• 15+ years of web development experience.
• 10+ years e-GIS experience utilizing techniques such as geolocation from addresses to Lat/Long; utilizing mapping software in a Web context (such as Open Street Maps or similar); displaying and putting marking pins on Satellite imagery; leveraging distance measurement tools on maps in a web browser.
• 5+ years of ASP.NET C# MVC based web development experience using Visual Studio 2008 or higher.
• 4+ years of experience with Solr (indexing at least 500 million rows).
• 3+ years of experience with Agile Methodologies.
• Experience as a developer in a software environment that supported more than 3,000 users and a RDBMS with more than 250 tables and 1 million rows.
• Experience in at least one software development environment with a minimum of 1,000 automated unit tests.
• MUST possess a Secret Security Clearance
