- Conduct ongoing progress monitoring and assessment of student academic and functional performance.

- Stay current with federal and state special education laws and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Valid state teaching license with Special Education certification in Maryland (or eligibility for reciprocity).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching students with disabilities (e.g., K-12, specific disability categories).
- Proficiency in developing and implementing IEPs and conducting progress monitoring.
- Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations (IDEA).
- Experience with virtual learning platforms and educational technology tools.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

The Special Education Teacher is responsible for identifying the educational needs of day treatment patients, functioning as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team in matters relating to educational programming and transition planning. Provides patient individualized education on an individual and group level. Provides classroom skills assessment, academic skills evaluation, educational programming and transition planning to treatment patients. Provides educational counseling services and recommendations to parents regarding the educational needs of their children. Participates, along with the Special Education Supervisor, clinical staff, parents, and receiving school personnel, in transition planning to a patient's community-based school at discharge from treatment.
Candidates for this role who do not hold a Colorado Special Education Teaching License can be eligible to complete an alternative licensure program to obtain their Special Education Generalist License.
