As the Senior Accountant, you will coordinate the monthly completion of ledger accounts and financial statements for our high-growth company, engage in the research and analysis of business and accounting transactions, and be responsible for the reconciliation of various commercial bank accounts and lines of credit. This position requires knowledge and understanding of GAAP accounting concepts, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, initiative and creativity. This is a hybrid role working out of our Plano, TX or Baton Rouge, LA corporate offices. Job responsibilities are as follows:

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of ledger accounts and financial statements.
  • Responsible for the preparation of GAAP financial statements and other financial reports.
  • Reports the organization's finances to management, evaluates and makes appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization.
  • Researches and analyzes accounting transactions. Analyzes trends, costs and revenues.
  • Reconciles business line of credit account balances, interest costs and variable interest rates.
  • Responsible for the accurate creation and timely submission of various banking, federal, and regulatory statistical reports.
  • Oversee and assist with commercial finance transactions and reporting.
  • Oversee financial reporting related to credit insurance and offshore captive.
  • Oversee and assist with the creation and delivery state, county and muni tax reporting.
  • Engages in special projects and other tasks as needed or required.

Requirements

  • BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in the field of public or mid-sized company accounting doing full cycle month-end close, intermediate financial reporting and bank reconciliations.
  • CPA designation or CPA candidate is preferred.
  • Previous finance company accounting, tax accounting and/or insurance industry experience is a plus.
  • Has thorough knowledge of financial accounting and GAAP concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Possesses strong analytical skills and a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
  • Ability to make sound, independent judgments within established guidelines
  • Ability to organize own work, set priorities and meet critical deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Ability and desire to work with others in a cooperative, positive and constructive manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

About The Opportunity

Our client, a well-established and growing organization based in Baton Rouge, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join their onsite team. This position is ideal for a finance professional with strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and a desire to contribute to a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties Oversee daily accounting operations in accordance with GAAP and internal policies Lead the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial variance analysis Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Support internal reporting needs across various departments Assist in consolidation and intercompany elimination entries Aid in tax compliance and planning across federal, state, and local levels Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules Coordinate with external auditors and support audit processes Contribute to ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects Secondary Duties Perform bank reconciliations and assist with cash flow forecasting Support financial administrative functions such as 1099 processing and occupational license renewals

This position will assist in the monthly financial close processes including preparation of journal entries and reconciliations. This role will also support and provide documentation for internal/external audit inquiries, assist in making process improvements/accounting changes, and provide on-going support for various finance teams. Additionally, this position performs back-up responsibilities as required within the General Accounting Group.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Assist with Internal/external audits and SOX testing procedures
+ Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls, procedures and remediation plans
+ Coordinate with other departments to update process narratives and ensure all processes are appropriately documented and accounting policies and procedures are followed
+ Diligently look for opportunities to improve financial performance through reduced business expense, improved cash flow and near & mid-term business decisions.
+ Support monthly financial close process including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, flux analysis, variance explanations and forecasting.
+ Complete and maintain general ledgers and financial reports for complex accounts.
+ Assist with ad-hoc special financial projects as requested.
+ Prepare financial information and submission file loaded monthly in Hyperion database
+ Support balance sheet initiatives, such as the Blackline account reconciliation reviews, that ensure compliance with policies
+ Mentor junior and mid-level accountants.
+ Determine and implement ASC606 deferred revenue recognition

+ Professional with understanding of accounting theory, current accounting issues, and accounting systems.
+ Working knowledge of consolidation and management reporting systems including process flows of ERP systems.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively within all levels of the Company including those outside of the accounting function.
+ A proven track record in meeting deadlines, manage projects, and working collaboratively as part of a team.
