Amazon Web Services is looking for a technical leader to lead our North America Startups SA team. Ideal leader will have proven experience in strategic thought leadership and detailed execution to develop and grow teams of customer obsessed technical professionals who partner with startup customers to advise, mentor, and innovate. As a member of the Solution Architect Leadership team, you will develop and lead programs that enable teams of Solutions Architects to deliver the right guidance and technical innovation to support all types of workloads for startups around the globe.
You will help develop the industry's best cloud-based solution architect team by enabling and coaching them on best practices, solution selling, presentation and speaking skills, as well as how to create and present value-driven architectures of widely varying size and complexity. In collaboration with Americas sales leadership, you will drive customer outcomes, innovation, and service growth across a broad set of customers. You will also lead a group of solution architects that focus on the key influence groups that work with startups and that invest in them, such as VC funds and incubators and accelerators. In collaboration with sales, you will drive AWS adoption and revenue growth across a broad set of customers.
This SA leader will also represent AWS for North America startups at the CxO level at our customers and at industry events. The role will also act as the technical Account Sponsor for top startups to help accelerate their innovation at a disproportionate rate.
In this role, you will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right as well as effective in shaping the customer and solutions-focused skills of your team. You must enjoy learning and introducing new technology in order to help colleagues and customers embrace and adopt new technology. Furthermore, thought leadership in terms of looking beyond the technology and considering the value technology creates for our customers, and helping to change how technology is viewed are important aspects of the role. You will help team members ramp-up on AWS as well as develop speaking, writing, presentation, and executive interaction skills. You will also need to be adept at interacting, communicating and partnering with other departments within AWS such as our services teams, marketing, and professional services, as well as representing your team to executive management. Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities will include thought leadership and driving value creation for our startup customers, shaping technical solutions, growing the team, and leading specific customer engagement and interaction with technical startup founders, CXOs and entrepreneurs looking to build their business on AWS. You are a self-starter who is prepared to own, define, develop, and execute a customer-outcome plan, representing your team to executive management. You will also need to be adept at interacting, communicating and partnering with other departments within AWS such as our support, services teams, business development, marketing, partners, and professional services
- Educate startup customers on the value proposition of AWS, and participate in architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud.
- Hire and develop new Solution Architect Leaders from internal and external sources.
- Guide and motivate the development of white-papers, data sheets, and other high-value customer facing guidance and best practices to influence early stage startups.
- This is a regional role; expect moderate travel.
- Act as a conduit and liaison between customers, service engineering teams and support.
Basic Qualifications
- 15+ years design/implementation/consulting experience of distributed applications
- 10+ years management of technical, customer facing resources
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field
- Working knowledge of cutting-edge software development tools and methodologies.
- Experience working with startups and technical founders and entrepreneurs.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within software development, cloud and data architecture

This is a hands-on position - the ideal candidate must be willing to "roll up the sleeves". The ideal candidate will develop simple, scalable solutions to complex problems, demonstrate effective project management skills, and conduct sophisticated analysis of data to create actionable deliverables, messages, and presentations. In this role, you will leverage workflow optimization and data analytics to define key sales support systems aligned with our GenAI business objectives. You'll build strong relationships across Sales, Business Development, Partner, Finance, and Marketing functions, enabling you to support change management initiatives and enhance operational productivity within the Startups GenAI business. By identifying and removing roadblocks, you will help empower our specialized sales force to effectively acquire, grow, and retain the best GenAI startups on AWS.

Basic Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in business, analytics, or related field
-2+ years in business operations, sales operations, or related fields

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $61,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $131,000/year in our highest geographic market.
