This recruitment will be used to establish an eligibility list for current and future Cadet State Trooper vacancies statewide. Cadet State Troopers participate in Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (AZ P.O.S.T.) Basic Training Curriculum and other training designated by the Department of Public Safety to learn general duty police work. Performs related duties as assigned. Upon successful completion of training and certification as a peace officer by AZ P.O.S.T., the incumbent is reclassified to State Trooper . This is a competitive classification.

As a reminder, the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) places Troopers in various locations throughout the State, depending upon the needs of the Department. You must be willing to accept an assignment anywhere in the State if you are offered a position as a State Trooper. Duty assignments will not be made until after successful completion of training and certification as a peace officer by AZ P.O.S.T.

Must be a U.S. citizen and a high school graduate or have a GED. Must be at least 21 years of age at the completion of AZ P.O.S.T. BASIC TRAINING CURRICULUMBy the starting date, must be a resident of the state of Arizona and possess a valid Arizona driver license.

Employees who are hired into the classification prior to the start of the training academy will be placed at step 1 of the salary range. All employees in the classification will be placed at step 2 of the salary range while actively assigned to the training academy.

Job Duties

The Virginia State Police is recruiting qualified applicants who want to promote highway safety, serve and protect their community, increase community involvement and partnership, and keep Virginia safe by enforcing the laws of the Commonwealth. We are actively seeking professional individuals with a desire to represent and serve the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The Virginia State Police is currently offering a $,000 signing bonus for those applicants who are successfully rehired and pass their probationary period. The 5,000 recruitment bonus will be paid out after the successful completion of the probationary period and is subject to taxes.

Minimum Qualifications

The minimum qualifications for a Virginia State Police Trooper are:

* must be at least 21 years of age on date of graduation;
* must be a high school graduate or have a GED;
* must be a United States citizen on day of testing;
* must be in possession of a valid driver's license;
* must successfully pass all Phase One pre-employment testing to include a Work Performance Test (WPT) (if applicable);
* must successfully complete a polygraph examination and pass a background investigation to complete Phase Two (if applicable);
* must be willing to travel at your own expense to the Virginia State Police Headquarters located at 7700 Midlothian Turnpike, North Chesterfield, VA 23235 to complete Phase Three of the pre-employment process (medical and psychological evaluation), and while in a probationary status;
* weight must be in proportion to height on date of hire;
* must be willing to relocate anywhere in the state based on Department needs;
* must be willing to work rotating shifts, holidays and weekends;
* must be in compliance with the Department's tattoo and body modification policies; and
* must attach a letter to the Superintendent requesting to be rehired and indicating three locations of choice to include Division, Area, and Duty Post.
