The Director is responsible for growing the ministry by praying, staffing, and funding the area through the Advancement Lanes: Ministry, Board, Donor, Talent and International. The Director works in alignment with the Regional Vice President, staff, and board(s) to fulfill the FCA Vision, pursue the FCA Mission, and live the FCA Values by developing and executing a ministry plan for the assigned area. In the FCA Sports Environment(s), the Director creates a strategic, consistent approach to discipleship -- making disciples who make disciples. The Director is accountable for ensuring that the FCA ministry is conducted according to biblical standards and adhering to FCA policies and procedures.
MINISTERIAL DUTIES
FCA believes these responsibilities are critical to our mission and that this position plays a vital role in our ministry. FCA expects all functions and responsibilities outlined below to be carried out with a heart surrendered to serving God as a form of worship.
- Agree with, and abide by, FCA's Christian Community Statement.
- Follow a spiritual rhythm including daily prayer and Bible study to seek the Lord's will for the ministry of FCA.
- Lead, conduct and provide spiritual leadership for staff, volunteers, coaches and athletes through prayer, Bible study, worship and living by example so they are equipped to serve others.
- Be connected to and participate in a local church through worship and weekly involvement.
- At all times, conduct yourself in a manner that affirms biblical standards of conduct in accordance with FCA's Christian beliefs. (see FCA's Christian Community Statement for details)
- Ensure FCA is engaging, equipping, and empowering coaches, athletes, and volunteers through 1-on-1s, Huddles and events.
- Train and equip staff to empower coaches and athletes to be disciples who make disciples in the Sports Environments.
- Oversee recruiting, hiring, training and developing effective and diverse staff.
- Recruit: Actively attract and recruit highly qualified staff prospects to specific ministry opportunities identified in the ministry plan.
- Hire: Select candidates, ensure they become fully funded, and onboard to fulfill specific roles and responsibilities based upon their calling, character, competence and chemistry.
- Train: Provide tools, resources and training to develop staff members' skills and increase their capacity and competence to effectively execute their responsibilities.
- Develop: Prepare staff to lead self, lead others, lead teams and lead organizationally in their current roles and to grow spiritually, personally and professionally for future opportunities.
- Ensure the recruiting, training, and developing of volunteers is strategically aligned with the goal of growing the ministry in the Sports Environments.
- Invite, involve, and invest in leadership boards who are committed to pray, serve, and give to advance the ministry.
- Encourage Representatives to surround themselves with Advisory Teams.
- Serve as the chief fundraiser and financial manager.
- Provide tools, resources, and training for FCA staff to fund the ministry by connecting, communicating, and caring for donors.
- Establish and execute an annual budget and funding plan by training and developing staff in growing Home Teams, major donors, and events.

Summary
The Director, State Policy position is responsible for creating and implementing successful strategies to achieve the organization’s goals on policy issues impacting the broadcast industry.
Essential Functions
Under the direction of the EVP, Government Relations, develop state and local advocacy strategies to address issues impacting the broadcast industry.
Monitor emerging state issues and advise Government Relations team on potential impact on broadcast members.
Develop state and local advocacy materials, including letters, testimony and one-pagers in support of the association’s policy goals.
Work with members of the advocacy team to execute tactics that influence state and local legislation which impact local broadcasters. Coordinate state and local political engagement where necessary, working in close collaboration with SVP of State Associations.
Grow and maintain a network of relationships with state legislators and staff, along with state association executives.
Organize and conduct successful advocacy efforts in conjunction with the NAB Government Relations Department and the 50 state broadcast associations to include, but not limited to writing emails, drafting issue sheets and editing materials relating to NAB’s advocacy efforts.
Consistent management of external legislative tracking.
Attend state broadcast association conventions as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Four-year degree and 7+ years of advocacy or related experience.
Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Strong interpersonal skills when interfacing with members.
Proven ability to represent the organization in a non-partisan manner.
Thorough knowledge of legislative process.
Ability to conduct research and in-depth analysis of complex issues related to our organization.
Ability to travel domestically up to 20% of the time.
Preferred Education and Experience
Demonstrated work experience with state and local government.
Demonstrated understanding of top issues for broadcasters.
Work Location and Schedule

Job Title: State Program Director, At-Large (Fixed-Term)
Working America is the community affiliate of the AFL-CIO. With 5 million members, Working America recruits and mobilizes people who do not have a union on the job in support of working families’ issues.
The State Program Director, At-Large, is an at-large statewide position that leads the Working America field canvass program, as well as builds Working America’s political and organizational profile within the local progressive community. The State Program Director works with the National Political Director and other canvass leaders to ensure the integration of Working America’s program within the local labor and progressive community, secures in-state funding for the organization, plans and implements programmatic and electoral campaigns, ensures the quality of Working America’s member mobilization in the field, and builds the Working America brand through media.
This is a fixed-term position with an end date of February 27, 2027.
Reports to : National Political Director
Duties:
- Work with National Political Director and canvass leadership to ensure that membership recruitment and other canvass and organizational goals are met;
- Represent the interests of Working America, within the State Federation and local labor councils, AFL-CIO affiliates and allied organizations in the progressive community; and work with AFL-CIO affiliated labor organizations & allied partners on a variety of campaigns;
- In coordination with the National Political Director & national staff, determine turf selection and issue mobilization; work with National Political Director and national staff to develop & implement state campaigns that encompass issues, organizing, elections, mobilization & more;
- Work with National Political Director and national staff to set goals and raise funds within the state via donor community, unions, small and large individual donors, foundations etc.;
- Participate in member mobilization and activist duties as needed, based on local priorities; manage state database of program activity and member activism;
- Work with national staff & National Political Director to build state relationships with media (print, radio, TV, bloggers, etc.), be the lead spokesperson in the state, draft press statements and releases & grow the Working America brand;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- One-year experience as a field canvass director preferred;
- Three or more years’ experience in electoral, labor or progressive politics;
- Knowledge of national and local structures of the labor movement;
- Ability to effectively execute and direct voter contact & GOTV operations;
- Leadership, team-building and strategic planning ability;
- Ability to engage, mobilize and develop activists;
- Ability to work independently in politically sensitive and high-pressure environments;
- Excellent problem-solving and relational skills;
- Computer proficiency and strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to travel on a regular basis as needed;
- Must be able to work irregular and long hours.
