Job Description: The Music Library Student Assistant supports the operations of the Music Library at the borrowing desk. The student assistant organizes the Music Library's collections, answers phone and chat inquiries, and provides preliminary reference assistance to patrons at the borrowing desk. The incumbent will also assist with special projects designed to improve awareness of and access to the Library's collections.

Responsibilities:

  • Checking library materials in and out and shelving them appropriately.
  • Assisting patrons in the use of resources such as searching the Library's catalog and music-specific databases.
  • Troubleshooting computers, audio equipment, copier, and other AV equipment.
  • Providing patrons with the status of materials requested.
  • Complete other duties at the discretion of management. Duties can include: curating social media profiles, inventory, event production assistance, and archival work.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-Time.
  • 10 hours per week.

Salary Range: $17.95 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Enrolled American University student in Fall 2025.
  • Excellent customer service, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Some knowledge of various genres of music, experience with social media and good work ethic.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Familiarity with the Library of Congress call number system, and some experience troubleshooting Mac and PC computers.
  • Students in the Department of Performing Arts or with the ability to read music are desirable.

Job Description:

The Library Communications & Administration Assistant helps with various aspects of the library communications team's daily functions and related projects, while also supporting the functions of the Office of the University Librarian. 8. The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student puts patient service first: ensures that patients and
families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which
recognizes the individuals' needs and rights with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.
9. The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student implements patient's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Occupational Therapist with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.
10. Under the supervision of the Clinical Instructor, the Occupational Therapy Assistant Student
provides individualized Occupational therapy interventions including application of therapeutic
techniques in such areas as, but not limited to:
a. cognitive skills
b. muscle strength
c. coordination
d. endurance
e. mobility
f. perceptual abilities
g. sensory awareness
h. siting and standing tolerance
i. balance
j. activities of daily living
k. joint protection
l. work simplification
m. orientation
n. physical agent modalities
11. The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student organizes and facilitates treatment groups in
consultation with the Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Responsibilities
The Physical Therapist Assistant student provides physical therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed
Physical Therapist and/or Physical Therapist Assistant.
1. The Physical Therapist Assistant Student will follow all Powerback Rehabilitation policy and
procedures outlined in the on-boarding and orientation process.
2. The Physical Therapist Assistant Student is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of
rehab services; adherence to an established plan of care, department and patient(s)' schedule, and
timely documentation of services with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.
3. The Physical Therapist Assistant Student attends and contributes to patient care, staffing
conferences and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy, under the
direction of the physical therapist and/or Clinical Instructor.
4. The Physical Therapist Assistant Student works with other members of the rehabilitation team to
implement programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient with
supervision from the Clinical Instructor.
5. The Physical Therapist Assistant Student instructs patients, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist and/or Clinical Instructor.
6. Maintains appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated with supervision from the Clinical Instructor.
7. Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary with
supervision from the Clinical Instructor.
8. Puts Patient Service First: Ensures that patients and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights with
supervision from the Clinical Instructor.
9. Implements patient's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist with supervision from the Clinical Instructor.
10. With the supervision of their Clinical Instructor, Physical Therapist Assistant student may provide individualized physical therapy treatments including but not limited to:
a. Therapeutic exercise including aerobic capacity conditioning, balance coordination,
agility training, body mechanics and postural stabilization, flexibility exercises, gait and
locomotion training, neuromotor development training, relaxation, strength, power, and
endurance training
b. Functional training
c. Manual therapy Airway clearance techniques
d. Integumentary repair and protection
e. Use of electrotherapeutic, physical agent and mechanical modalities
11. With the supervision of their Clinical Instructor, the Physical Therapist Assistant student will
organize and facilitate treatment utilizing the most appropriate mode of delivery with the physical
therapist.
