**What You'll Be Doing:**
The Medical Director for MSK Surgery is a key member of the Medical leadership team, providing timely medical review of service requests. Oversees the Surgery Field Medical Directors and interacts with leadership and management staff as well as health plan members and staff whenever a physician`s input is needed or required. Responsible for clinical audits for quality and education regarding the results and monitoring for improvement. Responsible for coordinating education and findings with matrixed Physician Business Manager.
+ Provides medical direction to the support services review process. Responsible for the quality of utilization review determinations, including appeals.
+ Provides input into audit processes including development of questions.
+ Reviews statistical sample of cases for Field Medical Director audits and makes recommendations into the types of cases to review.
+ Responsible to assist with all types of audits including Interrater, Customer, Clinical quality, and/or confirmation of process changes.
+ Holds Field Medical Director forums for education and question/issue resolution on a scheduled basis.
+ In conjunction with other leaders, measures Field Medical Director productivity, quality, and telephone statistics
+ In close partnership with Physician Business Managers, provides coaching and guidance.
+ Assists with new hire process of Field Medical Directors.
+ Attends training classes as needed for new hires to educate and train on Utilization management system and Field Medical Director process, standards and resources.
+ Acts as assigned mentor as needed for new hires and completes new hire case assessment working on any defined areas of opportunity.
+ Assists with Hot Topic identification and content for Field Medical Directors.
+ Discusses determinations with requesting physicians or ordering providers, when available, within the regulatory timeframe of the request by phone or fax.
+ Assists with provider standards and expedited appeals.
+ Actively participates in identifying new concepts/projects with projected ROI impacts.
+ On a requested basis, reviews appeal cases and/or attends hearings for discussion of utilization management decisions.
+ Strong partnership with Physician Business Managers to support the overall success of Field Medical Directors.
+ May function as Medical Director for select health plans or regions, assuming overall accountability for utilization management while working in conjunction with the SVP, CCO and/or CMO.
+ Additional duties as assigned
**Qualifications:**
+ Graduate of recognized medical degree program
+ Minimum of five (5+) years' experience in the practice of Orthopedic Spine Surgery is preferred.
+ Administrative Medical Experience- Utilization Management, Leadership Role or equivalent (2+) years
+ One or more current, unrestricted state licenses
+ Obtaining and maintaining medical licenses in required states per business need
+ Active Board Certification in Orthopedic Spine Surgery or Active Board Certification in Orthopedic Surgery with expertise in Spine Surgery is required.
+ Strong clinical, management, communication, and organizational skills
+ Energetic and curious with a passion for quality and value in health care
+ Computer Proficiency
+ Not under current exclusion or sanction by any state or federal health care program, including Medicare or Medicaid, and is not identified as an "excluded person" by the Office of Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services or the General Service Administration (GSA), or reprimanded or sanctioned by Medicare.

**Duties and responsibilities**
+ Work with Regional Managers to develop a calling strategy in order to maximize territory coverage and sales.
+ Prospect new customers and relationships in the hospital and private outpatient market to sell equipment and service contracts.
+ Develop and maintain a close working relationship with existing customers to ensure satisfaction with products and services, and to cross sell additional products and options.
+ Work Hospital Relations Manager, National and Government Accounts to develop relationships and implement hospital selling strategies/tactics with individual hospitals within hospital chains, IDNs, GPOs, and the VA and Military Centers.
+ Work with Sales Administration to generate quotes for new equipment and option sales.
+ Work with Product Managers to conduct product demonstrations and clinical presentations to prospective and existing customers.
+ Work with Ultrasound Marketing to develop business plans and market assessments for presentation to prospective and existing customers.
+ Continuous development of product knowledge and technical skills pertaining to Fujifilm ultrasound products and services.
+ Timely and accurate feedback on competitive products and pricing and changing market trends.
+ Timely and accurate reporting of all account contacts of all active accounts and prospects on the CRM tracking system.
+ Assist as required in the collection of accounts receivable, the renewal of service contracts and the resolution of product performance issues.
+ Remain current on industry trends and developments.
+ Attend RSNA and other local industry trade shows and conventions to develop sales leads and new relationships.
+ Comply with all applicable U.S. Food and Drug Administration (U.S. FDA) medical device regulatory requirements, applicable ISO 13485 standard requirements and all other applicable laws, regulations, and standards.

**Qualifications**
Experience
+ 4+ years previous sales experience in the hospital market, preferably selling diagnostic imaging equipment or related peripheral devices into the surgical space.
Educational Requirements
+ BA/BS required.

As a Field Medical Director, MSK Surgery you will be a specialty match reviewer for Spine Surgery cases. you will be a key member of the utilization management team. + Routinely interacts with leadership and management staff, other Physicians, and staff whenever a physician`s input is needed or required.
**What You Will Be Doing:**
+ Serve as the specialty match reviewer in Spine Surgery cases, that do not initially meet the applicable medical necessity guidelines, as well as other imaging requests when providers, clients, or state laws require specialty reviews to be completed by the subject matter expert.
+ Discusses determinations (peer to peer phone calls) with requesting physicians or ordering providers, when available, within the regulatory timeframe of the request.
+ Provides clinical rationale for standard and expedited appeals.
+ Utilizes medical/clinical review guidelines and parameters to assure consistency in the MD review process to reflect appropriate utilization and compliance with SBU`s policies/procedures, as well as Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) and National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) guidelines.
+ Aids and acts as a resource to Initial Clinical Reviewers.
+ Ensures documentation of all communications with medical office staff and/or MD provider is recorded in a timely and accurate manner.
+ Participates in on-going training per inter-rater reliability process.
+ May assist the Senior Medical Director in research activities/questions related to the Utilization Management process, interpretation, guidelines and/or system support.
+ On a requested basis, may function as Medical Director for selecting health plans or regions, assuming overall accountability for utilization management while working in conjunction with the Senior Medical Director.
**Qualifications - Required and Preferred:**

**Duties and responsibilities**
+ Work with Regional Managers to develop a calling strategy in order to maximize territory coverage and sales.
+ Prospect new customers and relationships in the hospital and private outpatient market to sell equipment and service contracts.
+ Develop and maintain a close working relationship with existing customers to ensure satisfaction with products and services, and to cross sell additional products and options.
+ Work Hospital Relations Manager, National and Government Accounts to develop relationships and implement hospital selling strategies/tactics with individual hospitals within hospital chains, IDNs, GPOs, and the VA and Military Centers.
+ Work with Sales Administration to generate quotes for new equipment and option sales.
+ Work with Product Managers to conduct product demonstrations and clinical presentations to prospective and existing customers.
+ Work with Ultrasound Marketing to develop business plans and market assessments for presentation to prospective and existing customers.
+ Continuous development of product knowledge and technical skills pertaining to Fujifilm ultrasound products and services.
+ Timely and accurate feedback on competitive products and pricing and changing market trends.
+ Timely and accurate reporting of all account contacts of all active accounts and prospects on the CRM tracking system.
+ Assist as required in the collection of accounts receivable, the renewal of service contracts and the resolution of product performance issues.
+ Remain current on industry trends and developments.
+ Attend RSNA and other local industry trade shows and conventions to develop sales leads and new relationships.
+ Comply with all applicable U.S. Food and Drug Administration (U.S. FDA) medical device regulatory requirements, applicable ISO 13485 standard requirements and all other applicable laws, regulations, and standards.

**Qualifications**
Experience
+ 4+ years previous sales experience in the hospital market, preferably selling diagnostic imaging equipment or related peripheral devices into the surgical space.
