This caregiver will be responsible for all activities related to the successful completion of all scheduled and unscheduled pediatric and adult surgeries, procedures and appointments. You will work in conjunction with the physician and staff to prioritize admissions and appointments or maximize the allocated space based on medical needs. A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Ensure accuracy of system-wide master patient index through validation and capture of patient demographic data.
+ Validate patient physician information and ensures accurate collection.
+ Identify patients in need of financial counseling to ensure appropriate payment of services.
+ Triage appointments, based on diagnosis, patient preferences, and physician specialty.
+ Coordinate services and provide special instructions as requested by patients, internal physicians and referring physicians.
+ Perform scheduling both intra- and inter-departmentally as requested by physician orders.
+ Receive orders and processes as indicated by provider and schedules according to protocol.
+ Ensure accuracy of all data including appropriate CPT coding and case information (side, equipment, etc.).
+ Serve as liaison with admitting office regarding hospital reservations, update admission information and cancels reservations.
+ Act as a resource to all department personnel (surgeons, medical secretaries, nurses, residents, etc.) on daily activity.
+ Communicate with patients and their families to provide detailed instructions, directions, and resources available.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ High School Diploma or GED
+ Two years of related experience in an area that provides broad knowledge of medical terminology that includes patient registration, patient billing, insurance processing or appointment/operating room scheduling OR three years of customer service concierge experience
+ Proficient in personal computers (PC) and general knowledge of PC-based systems and software
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel applications
+ Working knowledge of computerized appointment/OR scheduling systems, patient billing, insurance processing or other related office functions to coordinate patient access

+ Oversee the clinical practice of nursing in the ASC including assessing patient care needs and planning the delivery of care utilizing the nursing process in a variety of settings.
+ Direct other caregivers in providing patient care.
+ Assume charge responsibilities and resolve problems.
+ Report variances from standard practice to the Nurse Manager.
+ Develop educational material and provide health education to patients and families.
+ Process patients through the ASC.
+ Assess the level of personnel skills and the availability of resources to meet established patient outcomes.
+ Actively participate in attaining ASC goals and mission.
+ Monitor and evaluate cost effective practices within the ASC.
+ Participate in the development and utilization of quality monitoring programs within the ASC.
+ Maintain responsibility for personal and staff development by maintaining nursing competencies.
+ Complete all mandatory nursing competencies and educational requirements within a defined time frame.
+ Participate in the preparation of staff development programs, while identifying self-learning needs, establishing personal and professional goals to meet those needs, and evaluating attainment of set goals.
+ Demonstrate a positive, concerned and sensitive response in the workplace.
+ Contribute to the positive atmosphere of the workplace.
+ Interact with patients, visitors and staff in a courteous, helpful manner.
+ Demonstrate respect for the cultural and social differences that exist among people.
+ Maintain confidentiality of information regarding patients, families and staff members.
+ Resolve conflict in a positive manner.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Current state license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the AHA, complete ACLS training within the first 6 months of hire
+ 1 year of clinical experience as an RN in a perioperative or critical care setting or three years of surgical technician experience
+ Must have circulating experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
+ Scrub experience
