Position Details

A surgeon manages a broad spectrum of surgical conditions affecting almost any area of the body. The surgeon establishes the diagnosis and provides the preoperative, operative and postoperative care to surgical patients and is usually responsible for the comprehensive management of the trauma victim and the critically ill surgical patient. The surgeon uses a variety of diagnostic techniques, including endoscopy, for observing internal structures and may use specialized instruments during operative procedures. A general surgeon is expected to be familiar with the salient features of other surgical in order to recognize problems in those areas and to know when to refer a patient to another specialist.

  • Interviews patients to obtain information such as symptoms, medical histories, and family histories. Performs and/or interprets diagnostic tests as needed.
  • Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness. May prescribe or administer medications. Prepares, maintains, and reviews records that include patients' histories, examination findings, treatment plans, or outcomes.

Job Description

Locums - A well renowned hospital system is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with First Assist experience to join them for an ongoing locums assignment located along the West Branch of the Susquehanna River.

  • Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Start ASAP for ongoing need
  • Mon-Fri 7a-6p followed by night call 6p-7a
  • Weekend call 7a-7a with rounding from approx 10a-4p
  • Flexible schedules will be considered such as only weekends or 1 week on/ 1 week off
  • Potential to work 14 shifts per month if desired
  • 100% adult patients in a hospital setting
  • Experience with endoscopic vein harvesting, CABG, thoracic cases, AVR, TAVR, aortic cases required
  • EMR Cerner and EPIC
  • Active PA license, DEA, ACLS, BLS, CPR, recent case logs
  • Competitive rate, mileage, lodging, travel, malpractice provided
