**Responsibilities**
**Surgery RN role:**
Our surgical services nurses provide pre-, intra- and post-operative nursing care to all patient populations undergoing surgical procedures. Knows basic aseptic technique; Circulates and/or scrubs on Ortho, General, GYN, Neuro, ENT cases. Has a
positive attitude and likes to learn. This work includes developing, implementing and assessing the patient plan of care in collaboration with physicians, interdisciplinary teams and the patient and family.
**Qualifications**
**Job Requirements:**
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
One year of related work experience is preferred.
Current State Licensure as a Registered Nurse is required.
Certified Nurse of the Operating Room (CNOR) is preferred.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required.

**Franciscan Medical Group, as part of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, is looking for a full-time Surgery Scheduler for the Franciscan Surgical Associates Clinic in Tacoma, WA. This is an exciting opportunity to work with an amazing team that is very skilled. Great position with growth opportunities. **Job Summary:**
Obtains pre-authorization for surgery procedures and schedules surgeries optimizing the surgeon's time, and other surgery resources to satisfy patient needs. Schedules surgery cases and procedures for multiple facilities in a computerized scheduling system to ensure smooth patient flow to, through and from the Operating Room in accordance with all established processes, procedures and guidelines.
Work includes: 1) scheduling surgeries, ancillary services and maintaining physician block time, and block time releases, 2) ensuring surgery is authorized by the payor prior to the surgery appointment, 3) arranging for appropriate equipment/tools for the scheduled case, 4) verifying and reviewing physician privilege status prior to scheduling, 5) communicating with medical staff office to maintain log of current privilege status, and 6) acquiring and maintaining physician preference information.
This job exists in multiple locations, and while there may be minor differences in job content, they are not significant for classification purposes. Overall, the nature of the work and job requirements is consistent between locations.
An incumbent is located either behind-the-scenes, interacting with patients on the phone or at the front desk, interacting with patients directly.
**Essential Duties:**
+ Schedules appointments and ancillary services - surgical procedures.
+ Gathers insurance eligibility information and obtains pre-authorization for surgery.
+ Coordinates patient instructional/educational activities.
+ Coordinates purchase of materials and/or the rental of medical equipment relevant to the patient's referral.
+ Ensures Surgeon's schedules are maintained and physician preference information is current and conveyed in preparation of upcoming surgeries.
+ Distributes materials and responds to patient questions regarding routine billing and insurance matters.
**Qualifications**
**Education/ Work Experience:**
Two years of work experience in a medical office or healthcare environment where knowledge of medical terminology, insurance companies and codes as well as policies and procedures was necessary to perform the job.

+ Monitors and advises System Leadership of market trends that impact clinical and physician peer review activities, performance improvements, and financial performance of the center.
+ Maintains an effective billing system that ensures accurate billing and prompt collection services, as well as build an allowance for debt and third-party reimbursements.
+ Supervises special financial agreements for patients that include deferred payments and third-party payment plans.
+ Sets measurable and attainable accounts receivable levels for the center while providing a timely feedback cycle.
+ Tracks, monitors, and assist in obtaining credentials for appropriate areas of service.
+ Tracks, reports, and monitors standards or updates to remain in compliance with state licensure, federal regulations (OSHA CLIA, etc.), and accreditation boards.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.

**What You'll Be Doing:**
The Medical Director for MSK Surgery is a key member of the Medical leadership team, providing timely medical review of service requests. Oversees the Surgery Field Medical Directors and interacts with leadership and management staff as well as health plan members and staff whenever a physician`s input is needed or required. Responsible for clinical audits for quality and education regarding the results and monitoring for improvement. Responsible for coordinating education and findings with matrixed Physician Business Manager.
+ Provides medical direction to the support services review process. Responsible for the quality of utilization review determinations, including appeals.
+ Provides input into audit processes including development of questions.
+ Reviews statistical sample of cases for Field Medical Director audits and makes recommendations into the types of cases to review.
+ Responsible to assist with all types of audits including Interrater, Customer, Clinical quality, and/or confirmation of process changes.
+ Holds Field Medical Director forums for education and question/issue resolution on a scheduled basis.
+ In conjunction with other leaders, measures Field Medical Director productivity, quality, and telephone statistics
+ In close partnership with Physician Business Managers, provides coaching and guidance.
+ Assists with new hire process of Field Medical Directors.

**Qualifications:**
+ Graduate of recognized medical degree program
+ Minimum of five (5+) years' experience in the practice of Orthopedic Spine Surgery is preferred.
+ Administrative Medical Experience- Utilization Management, Leadership Role or equivalent (2+) years
+ One or more current, unrestricted state licenses
+ Obtaining and maintaining medical licenses in required states per business need
+ Active Board Certification in Orthopedic Spine Surgery or Active Board Certification in Orthopedic Surgery with expertise in Spine Surgery is required.
+ Strong clinical, management, communication, and organizational skills
+ Energetic and curious with a passion for quality and value in health care
+ Computer Proficiency
+ Not under current exclusion or sanction by any state or federal health care program, including Medicare or Medicaid, and is not identified as an "excluded person" by the Office of Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services or the General Service Administration (GSA), or reprimanded or sanctioned by Medicare.

The expected base salary/wage range for this position is $325,000-$350,000. This position is also eligible for a bonus component that would be dependent on pre-defined performance factors. **Responsibilities**
Provider will provide assistance to physicians specializing in emergency general and trauma surgery and to render care and services to Hospitals' patients. Provider's professional services shall be rendered within the scope of his/her training and responsibility, in accordance with community and professional standards of good medical practice, medical necessity, and medical appropriateness, and in compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Provider shall be responsible for providing the professional medical services normally provided by Providers of the same specialty as Provider to assigned patients without regard for such patients' ability to pay. While providing services, the Provider shall comply with that hospital's applicable standards, policies and procedures.
Advanced Practice Providers will provide hospital coverage at St. Joseph's Medical Center, as determined by management.
Essential Duties:
+ Record medical histories, perform physical examinations, review diagnostic imaging and labs and formulate accurate diagnoses under physician's supervision
+ Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures
+ Effectively develop and implement patient care treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
+ Consult with physician(s) when appropriate to assess patient condition and treatment
+ Assist in the Operating Room
+ Become credentialed and perform advanced bedside surgical procedures
+ Ensure that medical charts, patient billing and related administrative duties are completed in a timely manner
+ Maintain current knowledge of medical practices and treatment, including participating in professional development activities and maintaining licensure
+ Attends required meetings and participates in committees as assigned
+ Provides patient education. Instructs patients and family regarding medications and treatment. Uses Universal Precautions including personal protective equipment for anticipated contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials.
+ Maintains HIPPA compliance and protects sensitive data at all times.
+ Adheres to organizational and department specific safety standards and guidelines.
**Qualifications**
Education:
+ Physician Assistant (PA-C)
+ Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred
+ Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program required
+ Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
or
+ Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP)
+ Masters of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice
+ Board certification as either

Experience:
