The Patient Care Assistant I (PCA I) is an unlicensed caregiver working under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The PCA I provides the most basic of patient care including patient data collection, personal hygiene, and assistance with activities of daily living such as ambulating, toileting and feeding. PCA I's perform tasks as assigned and are instrumental in facilitating departmental/unit flow activities that support patient care and facilitate a safe, clean environment. The PCA I utilizes effective communication and documents data relevant to the care of the patient within their defined scope of practice. The PCA I demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development; as well as incorporating cultural differences, psychosocial and or spiritual needs when providing patient care. In addition, the PCA I collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job •Demonstrates the ability to safely, timely, and competently perform assigned duties. •Follows directions and communicates with the Registered Nurse and other members of the Healthcare Team in organized, clear and timely manner. •Collects and documents information pertinent to the patient's status in the patient's electronic medical record and notifies Registered Nurse of changes in patient's condition •Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights. Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial and other sensitive and/or confidential material in printed, electronic or verbal form related to all patient and employee privacy. •Demonstrates the ability to use good customer service skills by managing and acknowledging patient-family-significant other expectations. •Demonstrates tact, sensitivity and discretion at all times •Demonstrates the ability to integrate knowledge of job specific competencies, proper use of equipment, and maintain educational competencies and licensure. •Ability to be at work and be on time •Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives •Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner 11. We are seeking a Physician Assistant for Surgical Oncology at City of Hope in Duarte. The Physician Assistant functions as part of a care team who, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary health team, is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care. The Physician Assistant provides independent and collaborative medical management to a defined patient population, according to standardized procedures and in collaboration with a physician supervisor.

As a successful candidate, you will:

• Provide primary, secondary, and in some cases, tertiary care within scope of practice, licensure, and organizational policies.
• Services provided include, but are not limited to taking histories, conducting physical examinations, ordering, performing, and interpreting appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests and therapies and furnishing drugs and devices in a cost-efficient manner for specific conditions.
• Perform history and physical assessments of patients that are accurate, concise, relevant, and appropriate.
• Document the consultation and new patient note.
• Perform routine procedures, both inpatient and outpatient, pertinent to the practice and as granted through the privilege process.
• During simple follow-up cases, the you may independently manage patients in follow-up including ordering follow-up imaging, providing medical care, and support to the patient including ordering pharmacological agents.
• Interpret imaging and communicates with attending physician regarding interval patient change.
• Prescribe and council patients on narcotic use safety.
• Demonstrate pharmacologic knowledge including indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions, and adverse effects of pharmacologic agents.
• Review treatment and therapy plans with patients and appropriate family members.
• Practice clinical care informed by evidence-based literature.
• Instruct and counsel patients in matters related to health care management including diet, medication and physical and mental health needs and refers to the appropriate specialists when appropriate.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a master's degree as a Physician Assistant.
• Oncology experience preferred
• First Assist experience preferred
• Current California Physician Assistant License
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification, required.
• Current American Heart Association ACLS certification, required.
• Must have a current DEA.
• $119,000 to $213,000
