Qualifications:

This role will be responsible for supporting the sustainability program for Ashland, by leading and supporting initiatives to increase energy efficiency and reduce Ashland's environmental footprint, with a focus on water, energy, and hazardous waste. This will include but is not limited to mandatory and voluntary initiatives to identify and increase efficiency within Ashland's process, gaining and communicating an understanding unit and product level emissions intensity, and quantifying the impact of process changes and ongoing efficiency efforts. This role will work closely with global manufacturing sites to support commercial and internal requests and will help the sites strategically implement solutions. This role will also support and maintain several sustainability certifications where assistance is needed.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop and support execution of an energy transition strategy to move towards renewable energy options with a reduced carbon footprint
- Understanding and support of global manufacturing programs with a focus on US sites- with frequent site visits
- Understand emerging voluntary reporting frameworks and emerging regulations and work with Ashland work groups to develop and implement strategic response plans.
- Communicate strategic initiatives related to sustainability
- Identify and communicate best practices across manufacturing locations to promote broader improvements
- Maintain sustainability certification programs, leading internal and response to external audits
- Respond to commercial requests as needed and support collection and communication of key sustainability metrics and data.
- Lead US work group with key stakeholders to support sustainability progress/programs
- Manage implementation of programs and initiatives to meet emerging sustainability requirements

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Environmental Management, or an equivalent science
- 5-10 years experience in sustainability related programs in a manufacturing environment
- Strong background knowledge in sustainability programs and current/emerging compliance requirements
- Strong project management skills, ability to manage cross functional teams and organize, plan, and meet goals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in project management and continuous improvement
- Proficiency in SAP, MS office Suite, Sharepoint, and LCA software (SimaPro preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to work across functions and geographies
