POSITION OVERVIEW:
Shedd Aquarium is seeking a strategic and visionary Chief Animal Conservation Officer (CACO) to lead the organization’s animal husbandry, conservation research, and animal health efforts. The CACO will be a key member of Shedd’s Executive Leadership Team, shaping and executing initiatives aligned with the Centennial Commitment—Shedd’s bold strategic plan for impact and growth.
This role requires a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of animal operations and conservation, a proven record of executive leadership, and the ability to build strong, collaborative teams across departments. The CACO will drive innovation, elevate care standards, and represent Shedd’s mission across diverse scientific, public, and policy arenas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education:
- A bachelor's degree is required.
- Advanced degrees (DVM, VMD, Ph.D.) in veterinary medicine, marine biology, zoology, conservation science, or related fields are preferred.
- 10+ years of executive leadership experience in a zoo, aquarium, conservation organization, research institution, or similar entity with complex animal operations and public engagement.
- Demonstrated expertise in animal husbandry, animal health, and applied conservation.
- Strategic thinker with strong operational execution skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication abilities.

**Job Summary**
The **Business Development Representative -** **Sustainable Technologies** is responsible for providing technical and professional expertise during the sales process, which may directly influence the crafting of the sales proposal, the operational requirements or risk, the customer's willingness to buy Cardinal Health's solution, the timing, or the customer's satisfaction, and contract negotiations. This highly visible and hunter sales position, reporting directly to the National Sales Director, Sustainable Technologies, is expected to meet or exceed sales goals by advancing high quality medical sustainability solutions utilizing a value-based concept sell to the Acute Care marketplace within the territory.
**Territory:** We currently have 4 open Business Development Representatives. This opening will cover a multi-state region in the greater Western area of the US. Ideal candidates will be located near a major airport.
**Responsibilities**
+ Responsible for driving sales and achieving sales goals across the reprocessing portfolio within assigned geography
+ Develop and execute effective sales strategies tomaintain existing base of business and drivenew revenue opportunities
+ Lead territory opportunity development and activities that translate to accurateforecast projections
+ Prepare proposals, negotiate pricing and present business reviews to drive value for the customer and Cardinal Health
+ Master all products and sales applications by demonstrating ongoing competency
+ Build and strengthencustomer relationships andmaintain positive working relationships with external business partners
+ Maintain knowledge of the current industry / competitive landscape?including,?GPOs, healthcare economics, reimbursement,?competitors?and competitive products etc?
+ Foster productive relationships with Field Sales, Marketing, Sales Operations, and other key internal stakeholder groups
+ Participate in sales meetings, training programs, conventions, and trade shows as directed
+ Responsible for meeting and maintaining the requirements of all key vendor credentialing entities
+ Complete all administrative requirements in a timely and comprehensive manner (expenses, compliance, CRM, as directed)
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
+ Minimum of 3-5 years of documented outside commercial sales success preferred
+ Medical Device industry experience preferred
+ Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
+ Documented history of sales quota attainment/exceeding sales goals preferred
+ Documented history of building strong relationships, influencing key decision makers and exceeding customer expectation
+ Ability to understand complex contracting and develop sound financial business case preferred?
+ Demonstrated ability to deliver business results by working independently and cross functionally
+ Competitive mindset with experience in creative prospecting
+ A valid driver's license issued in one of the 50 States with a clean driving record?
+ Ability to travel domestically and within region often involving overnight stays and stays up to one week in duration?

**Anticipated pay range:** ? $140,000 - $170,000 (includes variable sales pay)

**Territory:** We currently have 4 open Business Development Representatives. This opening will cover a multi-state region in the greater Western area of the US. Ideal candidates will be located near a major airport.
**Responsibilities**
+ Responsible for driving sales and achieving sales goals across the reprocessing portfolio within assigned geography
+ Develop and execute effective sales strategies tomaintain existing base of business and drivenew revenue opportunities
+ Lead territory opportunity development and activities that translate to accurateforecast projections
+ Prepare proposals, negotiate pricing and present business reviews to drive value for the customer and Cardinal Health
+ Master all products and sales applications by demonstrating ongoing competency
+ Build and strengthencustomer relationships andmaintain positive working relationships with external business partners
+ Maintain knowledge of the current industry / competitive landscape?including,?GPOs, healthcare economics, reimbursement,?competitors?and competitive products etc?
+ Foster productive relationships with Field Sales, Marketing, Sales Operations, and other key internal stakeholder groups

+ Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
+ Documented history of sales quota attainment/exceeding sales goals preferred
+ Documented history of building strong relationships, influencing key decision makers and exceeding customer expectation
+ Ability to understand complex contracting and develop sound financial business case preferred?
+ Demonstrated ability to deliver business results by working independently and cross functionally
