Were seeking a Senior Engineering Manager with a strong background in Systems Engineering to join our Mission Systems Tactical Communication Systems team. This is an exciting opportunity to influence and lead the development of advanced communication technologies that support military operations around the globe.
As a key leader within the Tactical Communications organization, you will guide teams responsible for the design and development of cutting-edge software-defined radio (SDR) products that span the full spectrum of communication bands. Your work will shape the future of both networking and non-networking SDRs used across a wide range of platforms.
In this role, youll collaborate across engineering disciplines to deliver complete system solutions that meet the evolving needs of both U.S. and international customers. From initial concept through deployment, you will be engaged in all aspects of the communications system lifecycledriving innovation and ensuring mission success.

What You Will Do
- Manage a team of intermediate and experienced engineering professionals and cooperatively determine objectives and approaches to completing work. This responsibility requires knowledge of systems engineering and project engineering to be successful.
- Sets objectives and guides team on execution/approach for achievement of result.
- Understands and explains policies, practices, and procedures and influences others within the department. Also responsible for making moderate to significant improvements of processes, systems, or products to enhance performance of work area.
- Execute operational plans or projects that have measurable contribution towards the achievement of results. Projects can be people or technically focused.
- Process, technical, or team problem solving. Problems and issues faced are undefined and require detailed information gathering. Problems are difficult and complex, involving consideration of multiple sites, geographies, products, or customers. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experience and analysis of issues.
- Communicate with parties within and outside of own discipline and team and to upper level leadership.
- Provide primary input to hiring, firing, promotion, performance, and rewards decisions for direct reports.
- Typically requires a STEM University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
- 3+ Years experience in a technical program management and/or systems lead role.
- 2+ Years Experience with Agile development methodologies
- Demonstrated understanding of the systems engineering development process
- Experience in personnel management
- Active or existing Secret Clearance
- Experience in communication or RF products
- Electrical Engineering degree
- Experience with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools (CAMEO) for developing architectures and functional analysis

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidates work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

SMX is seeking a **SOCOM Task Lead** to coordinate **Field Service Representative (FSR)** activities with geographically separated **COCOM** locations for **USSOCOM tactical communications programs** . These programs include, but are not limited to, the **Satellite Deployable Node (SDN)** and **Tactical Local Area Network (TACLAN) Family of Systems (FoS)** . This role assists with managing dispersed teams, coordinating logistics, tracking performance, and ensuring all contract requirements and customer needs are met across multiple CONUS SOCOM sites. The SOCOM Task Lead serves as a key trusted role in maintaining operational continuity and high service standards.
**This position requires a DoD Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility, which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.**
**Responsibilities:**
+ Support the Operations Manager in overseeing daily operations for a geographically dispersed FSR workforce providing sustainment, technical support, and training
+ Serve as an alternate point of contact for program leadership, customers, and onsite teams
+ Assist with scheduling, staffing plans, and personnel management to ensure proper coverage of mission requirements
+ Help track and report key performance metrics, compliance, and contract deliverables
+ Coordinate shipping, equipment accountability, spares inventory, and maintenance tracking in support of FSR operations
+ Conduct regular site visits and virtual check-ins to monitor field performance and resolve issues
+ Support onboarding and training for new hires and ensure compliance with all security and operational standards
+ Help identify process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational risk
+ Maintain records, generate operational reports, and assist with CPARS and other performance assessments
+ Act as acting Operations Manager in their absence to maintain continuity of leadership
**Required Qualifications:**
+ DoD Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility
+ 5+ years of experience in tactical systems support, systems integration, or similar DoD technical field roles
+ Strong knowledge of tactical network design, Linux/server administration, and C4ISR systems
+ Familiarity with SOF mission requirements and operational TTPs
+ Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and configure secure communication networks and devices
+ Excellent communication, technical documentation, and stakeholder coordination skills
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
+ Previous SOF affiliation or experience supporting USSOCOM programs
+ Experience with tactical routers, switches, SATCOM systems, LTE/cellular tech, and secure certificate management
+ Familiarity with government property handling (GFP/CAP), acquisition processes, and fielding integration
+ Previous experience as a Team Lead or Site Lead for FSR teams or similar field-based operations
+ Experience supporting USSOCOM or other Special Operations Forces
+ Knowledge of government logistics and inventory tracking systems (e.g., COLTS, DPAS)
+ Familiarity with CPARS or similar contractor performance reporting processes
