Summary The Field Service Technician performs a variety of tasks, including but not limited to, onsite bolting, heat treating and/or field machining. Completes any and all tasks assigned by the Field Supervisor to meet goals of increased efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction. Ideal candidates will have experience with construction or mechanical work and/or possess knowledge of plant maintenance and repair work.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical bolting, heat treating, or field machining preferred.
  • Experience performing maintenance and turnaround services to refining, chemical, midstream, and power.
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Possess a current TWIC card or have the ability to obtain one.
  • Valid driver license with a clear driving record
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Must be able travel a minimum of 75% of the time.

  • Ability to pass a non-DOT medical exam, drug and alcohol test, respirator qualification test, and federal class background check.

  • Pre-site, startup, repair, preventive maintenance, and field modification of equipment

  • 2+ years of field service repair and customer service with UPS (Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, power distribution and switchgear, seamless automatic transfer switches (ATS), power distribution units, electrical, electro-mechanical or electronics related equipment
  • 2+ years in Field Services or equivalent industry experience.
  • Must possess good safety practices and adhere to the company's safety procedures/polices (lock out tag out, comply with all safety programs and complete safety related trainings on time.
  • Identify hazards present in the work area and report all safety matters, incidents, near misses, to management or safety representative.
  • NFPA-70E or OSHA experience is preferred

+ Utilize your experience with borescopes and/or other remote visual inspection (RVI) tools.

Summary The Field Service Technician performs a variety of tasks, including but not limited to, onsite bolting, heat treating and/or field machining. Completes any and all tasks assigned by the Field Supervisor to meet goals of increased efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction. Ideal candidates will have experience with construction or mechanical work and/or possess knowledge of plant maintenance and repair work.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical bolting, heat treating, or field machining preferred.
  • Experience performing maintenance and turnaround services to refining, chemical, midstream, and power.
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Possess a current TWIC card or have the ability to obtain one.
  • Valid driver license with a clear driving record
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Must be able travel a minimum of 75% of the time.

  • Ability to pass a non-DOT medical exam, drug and alcohol test, respirator qualification test, and federal class background check.

  • Operate a variety of tools for field work.
  • Properly document and/or record work performed utilizing required internal and customer job-related forms/paperwork.
  • Keep a clean and safe working environment and optimize space utilization.
  • Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Meet and communicate with customers in a professional manner.
  • Operate and preventively maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Work in accordance with all safety regulations

Generator Inspection, Maintenance, Repair, and Upgrades. Keeping the lights on for America, and the world. The team culture is built around Safety, Quality, and Schedule. The employee will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, vibration, and high voltage electricity. The employee may work with toxic or caustic chemicals and radioactive material. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
**How You'll Make an Impact**
+ Assist winding operations in a productive manner that meets the manufacturing and engineering specifications on all turbine generator field and factory equipment of both Siemens Energy, Westinghouse OEM, and other manufacturer's designs, including but not limited to, stators, rotors, exciters, voltage regulators, and other related rotating and stationary equipment.
+ Assist with electro-mechanical operations of various types relating to the testing and servicing of turbine generator equipment.
+ Assist in performance of turbine generator inspections, specialty services, and related work assignments.
+ Assist with winding and machining, assembly, tool setup and operation, work package and other documentation use and implementation, and any other winding/machining tasks that are required to maintain product line service capabilities.
+ Communicate work instructions and personal understanding of tasks assigned with leaders and peers, that enables all employees on the project to perform in a manner that maintains and meets task criteria and schedule.
+ Complete and assume responsibility for maintaining personal Time and Expense reports on a weekly basis.
**What You'll Bring**
+ Minimum 1 year of related generator winding experience.
+ High School diploma or recognized equivalent; and two years related industrial experience and/or training.
+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
+ Must be able to travel up to 100% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
+ Availability to work at customer sites and be able to meet the demands of aggressive schedules.
+ Must be able to enter and exit generators and work in awkward positions inside a generator frame. Must be able to climb ladders/scaffold to connect water skids and assist the field engineer in testing operations in various areas of the generator. Must be able to operate machinery such as Hytorq equipment, pneumatic wedging guns, sanders, saws, etc. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds unassisted. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
