Assignment of Work and Travel:

This is a remote access assignment. Candidate will work remotely daily and will remotely access VA systems and therein use approved VA provided communications systems. Travel is not required; however, the candidate may be required to attend onsite client meetings as requested.

Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):

  • Manage, Install, upgrade, patch and configure Windows 2016, 2019 and 2021 systems or other Window's Systems as they come online.
  • Install standard applications (ex., Office365 or similar, ERWIN or similar, SQL server, Python, PowerBI, Jupiter Lab, Visual Studio, Toad, and other similar items), configure Roles, Features, policies, and settings to meet VA requirements.
  • Work with HP hardware to include ProLiant DL Series Servers, Blades, and Blade Chassis hardware.
  • Attach systems to a SAN, configure Multipath IO Policy for redundancy, and to optimize performance.
  • Configure network interface controller (NIC) teaming for network redundancy, update drivers, and apply settings to optimize throughput and performance.
  • Configure Mellanox NICs, network switches, and software.
  • Configure Windows Clustering for High Availability, and allocate resources to the appropriate Roles to meet the application requirements.
  • Use standard tools and services utilized in enterprise Windows environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SMB, RDP, sFTP, WDS, and Group Policies.
  • Add systems to our monitoring tools (SCOM and SolarWinds)
  • Configure SSL/TLS Certs to secure application traffic.
  • Provide support 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year, the coverage outside of business hours and holidays can be on-call.
  • Work with the Backup team to configure systems for backups (Commvault)
  • Work with other teams to evaluate requirements and propose solutions.
  • Configure Visio and Office applications to generate and maintain documentation.
  • Monitor systems daily to limit downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and address issues as they occur, and move cluster instances if necessary to limit downtime.
  • Review system Event logs daily.
  • Review the status of the cluster daily and check cluster events.
  • Review notifications from our monitoring environments.
  • Apply system patches monthly, or as needed to address system vulnerabilities.
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as firmware and driver updates as needed.
  • Address vulnerabilities identified by Nessus and Penetration Scans monthly in compliance with ATO and VA.
  • Configure allocated storage from the SAN team, grow and assign volumes to the appropriate cluster roles.
  • Harden servers per VA / DoD Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG) guidelines.
  • Perform operating system upgrades and patching weekly or as needed to maintain functionality.
  • Perform monthly security patching and vulnerability remediation.
  • Administer Microsoft HYPER-V and Virtual Machine Manager.
  • Perform Physical and Virtual server builds.
  • Monitor Enclave server, storage, and networking performance.
  • Conduct System optimization and updating.
  • Conduct General Windows System troubleshooting.
  • Conduct Server performance bottleneck troubleshooting.
  • Maintain or create group policies/ local policies required by VA security entities.
  • Assist with troubleshooting Remote Desktop (RDP) issues from clients.
  • Maintain SSH File Transfer Protocol, (sFTP) system and create user accounts tied to specific directories and maintain security both in transit and at rest.
  • Maintain sFTP Security compliance to retain the ATO/ required by VA and DoD.
  • Assist VA and external users on how to transfer files via sFTP.
  • Update the Windows Administration Technical Guide on Configurations and Topology with any enhancements or changes as needed by the government PM.
  • Document all Windows Administration activities in the Weekly Progress Report.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Information Systems, or other related disciplines.
  • 15 years of experience, an additional relevant 8 years of experience may be substituted for education.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship due to clearance.
  • Five (5) years of Microsoft server administration and support experience, with three of those years in a healthcare setting.

The likely salary range for this position is $121,680 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

GDIT seeks a highly motivated and experienced Windows Systems Administrator to support a Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) mission in Fort Belvoir, VA. This position will support the Defense Stockpile Management Systems (DSMS) which includes Defense Integration and Management of Nuclear Data Services (DIAMONDS), Joint Application Design Environment (JADE), Nuclear Inventory Management and Cataloging System (NIMACS), Government Acceptance Testing (GAT), and DIAMONDS Accountability Training System (DATS).

Essential Duties And Responsibilities HOW A SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR SENIOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Plan, build, and upgrade Windows server systems across the organization.
  • Provide day-to-day support for Windows systems, services, and performances.
  • Perform vulnerability management on physical/virtual servers and systems.
  • Perform migration, backups, and recovery of Windows systems.
  • Develop documentation and training for systems and tasks related to Windows systems.
  • Provide for the configuration and deployment of new software related to the infrastructure environment, such as backup/recovery systems and security.
  • Create and plan migration process to support applications hosted by the Windows/Linux systems.
  • Complete system security checklists, patches, upgrades, configuration, troubleshooting and documentation of equipment required to maintain the environments.
What You'll Need To Succeed Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience building and configuring physical Windows servers.
  • Experience building and configuring Windows servers in a VMWare environment.
  • Experience administering Microsoft Windows Server 2016-2022.
  • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory.
  • Ability to administer and upgrade Windows servers.
  • Ability to install and configure hosted applications and services on Windows servers.
  • Experience using Windows PowerShell.
  • Advanced skills in problem solving.
  • Good work ethic and an active desire to learn.
  • Skillful time management and organizational skills to set and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Advanced knowledge with administrating Ivanti Security Controls.
  • Experience with Tenable Nessus tools/reports.
  • Experience with Host Based Security Systems (ESS).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Experience with DISA STIGs and their relation to Windows security.
  • Prior experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
  • Prior experience of RSA SecurID multifactor authentication services.
Minimum Education And Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or 4+ years of experience.
  • Required: DoD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE)
  • Required: Fully adjudicated Secret security clearance w/TS/SCI eligibility

The likely salary range for this position is $102,000 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides network and infrastructure management and operations support across FCC locations.
  • Respond to FCC Network Security Operations Center in response to security incidents.

Requirements

  • Security Clearance:  An Interim DoD Secret clearance is required to start. A Top Secret clearance will be required for this position. Applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • DoD 8570.01M IAT Level III certified with Continuing Education (CE) (CompTIA CASP+ CE, CISSP, or equivalent)
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher certification.
  • Minimum of 5-6 years of experience supporting system administration for DoD or Federal Programs
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in VMware administration.
