Job Description

Role Overview: The Senior Financial Analyst, TV Networks will report to the Senior Manager and provide critical financial support across MSNBC, CNBC, Golf Channel, USA, E!, SYFY, and Oxygen. This role is instrumental in driving accurate forecasting, insightful reporting, and strategic analysis of subscriber revenue. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities, a keen attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to support decision-making across the networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with forecasting and reporting subscriber revenue, including budgets, long-range plans, and monthly pacing.
  • Maintain and enhance complex revenue models in collaboration with Distribution and Decision Sciences teams.
  • Assist in analysis of risks and opportunities related to subscriber revenue.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to maintain headcount and C&B budgets and models.
  • Contribute to free cash flow planning and analysis in partnership with Corporate FP&A team
  • Participate in system implementations and process improvements across News, Sports, and Entertainment finance teams.
  • Contribute to ad hoc strategic and financial projects as assigned.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in financial planning & analysis, operational finance, or accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and scenario analysis (Power Query a plus).
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Prior experience in media, streaming, or direct-to-consumer businesses.
  • Familiarity with SAP, BW, BPC, or similar financial systems.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and levels.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.

Additional Information:

Hybrid : This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the New York, NY office a minimum of three days per week.

The role requires strong attention to detail and high standards for quality and accuracy as it supports a crucial revenue stream for the networks.
Responsibilities
+ Support the Content Distribution team in forecasting and reporting of subscriber revenue.
+ Maintain complex revenue model to provide revenue forecasts, including budgets, long range plans, and pacings, in coordination with the Distribution and Decision Sciences teams.
+ Provide insights on risks and opportunities for subscriber revenue.
+ Maintain headcount and C&B budget across the TV Networks business, partnering closely with finance, HR, and operational leaders.

Qualifications/Requirements

What You'll Do:
+ Oversee the controllership activities for TV Networks programming and production costs, including licensed and owned content, as well as live sports and news production.
+ Oversee that all transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed and supported in accordance with company policies, generally accepted accounting principles and SOX controls.
+ Partner as trusted advisor to the TV Networks finance organization on issues concerning reporting and controls, and assist with the formulation of financial and operational policy matters.
+ Participate in monthly/quarterly closing processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness in financial information. Perform financial statement reviews for relevant accounts (i.e. Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash Flows), and oversee preparation and review of relevant schedules to support external disclosure.
+ Review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, ensure all necessary required adjustments and true ups are reflected in the ledger accurately and timely.
+ Responsible for key controllership processes related to content accounting, including amortization curves, impairment analysis and collaborating with business and technical accounting teams to assess the impacts of new transactions.
+ Oversee and review participations and residuals process.
+ Assess control environment through review of control activities; identify and concentrate on improvement opportunities in key, high risk areas.
+ Ensure that operational and design effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting is maintained and support Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
+ Manage both external and internal audits for content in TV Networks.
+ Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and delivery of all regular and ad hoc management reports.
+ Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results
+ Collaborate with controllership team and IT on reporting system enhancements (e.g. amortization systems)

The Manager, Record to Report (R2R) supports the execution of Versant's financial close, journal entry processing, intercompany accounting, fixed assets, and account reconciliation activities. Reporting to the Director of Record to Report (R2R), this role is responsible for day-to-day operations and compliance within the R2R process. The Manager will work with internal stakeholders and BPO providers to ensure timely and accurate period-end close while supporting transformation initiatives, including Blackline adoption. Additionally, ensuring the offshore team performance complies with SLAs, providing excellent customer service to the business units (act as a first point of contact) and driving efficiency through continuous improvement within a shared service model.
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery
+ Execute daily and monthly R2R operational activities including journal entries, intercompany postings, and fixed asset accounting.
+ Coordinate with BPO teams and internal functions to meet SLAs and close deadlines.
+ Prepare and review account reconciliations using Blackline, ensuring timely resolution of outstanding items.
+ Support period-end close tasks, reporting packages, and internal review processes.
+ Assist with master data maintenance and close calendar tracking.
Continuous Improvements
+ Identify and escalate opportunities to improve efficiency or accuracy in journal entry and reconciliation processes.
+ Support transformation and automation initiatives across R2R processes.
Standards and Controls
+ Ensure adherence to SOX and internal control standards related to journal entries and account reconciliations
+ Maintain documentation of reconciliations and key processes in accordance with audit standards
+ Collaborate with internal audit and compliance teams during walkthroughs and reviews
Performance
+ Monitor R2R process KPIs (e.g., journal posting timeliness, recon completion rates)
+ Ensure BPO support meets established service levels
+ Participate in governance routines to track performance and drive issue resolution
People
+ Supervise day-to-day activities of analysts and BPO support resources
+ Provide coaching and training to junior staff
+ Foster a team culture focused on continuous improvement and collaboration
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, CPA preferred
+ 5+ years of experience in Record to Report operations or general ledger accounting
+ 1 - 2 years prior management experience required
+ Experience working in a shared services or BPO-supported environment preferred
+ Experience with SAP S/4 HANA and Blackline is a plus
+ International experience preferred (understanding of currencies and FX)
+ Media and Entertainment industry experience preferred
Knowledge & Skills
+ Strong understanding of journal entry, intercompany, and reconciliation processes
+ Working knowledge of internal controls and SOX compliance requirements
