Job Description
A medical device client in the Clear Lake area is looking for a Quality Inspector to join their team. This position is responsible for performing incoming inspections on raw components used during manufacturing of in-process subassemblies and finished products. The products they manufacture are Neuromodulation devices and Cardiopulmonary devices.
This is all incoming components for our clients' devices they manufacture. 90% of product that comes into their building is required to go through inspections for confirmation for specifications of the vendors. The equipment that they use varies. Calibers, micrometers, gauges, and some visual tools. An inspection can take a whole day for one part, because they are tedious and detailed. Each item has its own specifications sheet that the team has to follow strictly step by step. It's tedious and they must be quality focus, patient and have attention to detail.
PRIMARY ACTIVITIES
- Inspects or tests components and raw material according to written inspection procedures
- Inspects electronic or mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and component parts for compliance with acceptance criteria as defined by specifications, drawings, samples, or illustrations
- Examines units visually, with microscope or other magnifying device, to determine physical defects according to written inspection procedures.
- Compares assemblies with drawings, parts lists, illustrations, and/or samples to verify conformance and detect assembly errors
- Examines the alignment of parts and verifies installation of hardware on assemblies and subassemblies
- Measures parts for conformance to specified dimensions using measuring instruments or equipment
- Accepts or rejects materials / product inspected based on conformance to acceptance criteria
- Records inspection data on appropriate forms, logs, and/or in computer databases
- Maintains controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner
- Coordinates calibration of all test equipment and fixtures
- Monitors critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration
- Identifies and controls nonconforming material and defective products until the material has been quarantined
- Responsible for identifying, evaluating, recording, and initiating correction or prevention of quality related problems
- Responsible for identifying and controlling nonconforming material and defective products by segregation or product identification
- Performs other duties as may be required by management

- 2+ years of experience with QA experience / quality control / inspection
- Proficiency in MS Office (basic)
- Good verbal and written communication skills

- Medical device or Aerospace industry experience Metrology skills, optical comparator use, metric ability, inspection, and instrumentation experience, visual measuring equipment i.e. Keyence, Micro-vue.

SQE Deliverables Include:

**Roles and Responsibilities**
+ Role is responsible for supplier processes, from initial qualification, maintenance, and necessary improvement driven by business quality needs.
+ Position includes regular supplier audits, in conjunction with our GE Aerospace process experts and system assessments for quality preparedness and process controls to remain adherent to GE Aerospace process specifications and agency regulations.
+ Requires specialized knowledge within the field of NDE, including but not limited to: CT Scanning & Ultrasonic evaluation processes. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
+ Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work. Coordinating with the GE Aerospace Inspection Solutions (AIS) experts and operations teams and their approved supplier technical plans, to ensure product meets the approved process requirements and specifications.
+ Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and can construct and provide recommendations. **Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years (Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Engineering) experience + minimum of 3 years (Materials Science, Engineering, or Quality) related roles experience
**Desired Characteristics**

Job Description
Our Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) for Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) & Testing Processes, will apply their demonstrated knowledge of NDE to lead improvement and sustain quality practices within our Composites supply chain.
SQE Deliverables Include:
1. Establish supplier process quality strategy for GE Aerospace.
2. Drive quality for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementation.
3. Lead suppliers through root cause and corrective actions to address any quality findings.
4. Select suppliers through qualification processes.
5. Own supplier quality system requirements, drive improvements utilizing supplier scorecards.
6. Own supplier audits, ensuring compliance, and driving improvement plans where needed.
7. Mentor and teach team members within the Composites supplier quality team.
8. Consult with Composites sourcing and operations on matters of quality disruptions to delivery and impacts to cost as a result of the NDE processes and vendor selection.
9. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work.
10. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of how work within our own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
**Job Description**
**Roles and Responsibilities**
+ Role is responsible for supplier processes, from initial qualification, maintenance, and necessary improvement driven by business quality needs.
+ As a senior SQE, the role will lead in mapping capacity, informing supplier strategy, and consult in GE Aerospace leadership decisions impacting Safety, Quality, and Operational metrics; as it pertains to the quality impacts from process and product yield.
+ Position includes regular supplier audits, in conjunction with our GE Aerospace process experts and system assessments for quality preparedness and process controls to remain adherent to GE Aerospace process specifications and agency regulations.
+ Requires specialized knowledge within the field of NDE, including but not limited to: CT scanning and Ultrasonic evaluation processes. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
+ Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work. Coordinating with the GE Aerospace Inspection Solutions (AIS) experts and operations teams and their approved supplier technical plans, to ensure product meets the approved process requirements and specifications.
+ Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and can construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
+ May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on specific topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Engineering from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED, with a minimum of 4 years of Non-Destructive Evaluation and Quality experience) + a minimum of 5 years Non-Destructive Evaluation operations, team leadership, and aerospace supply chain experience.
