Tooling Specialist

The Tooling Specialist’s responsibilities include using existing skills in fabrication, machining and welding to build fixtures, gauges, and other specialty products in support of the plant’s production requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of machine functions, metal properties, and mathematics.
· Fabricate fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.
· Utilize various instruments including micrometers, squares, and vernier calipers.
· Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials into machines.
· Select the appropriate tools, materials, and machines to be used in preparation of machinery work.
Minimum Qualifications:
· 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Proficiency with CAD software. Familiarity with Mastercam or equivalent software desired.
· Set up and operate metalworking, brazing, heat-treating, welding, & cutting equipment
· Ability to program computers and electronic instruments (such as numerically controlled machine tools).
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design schematics.
· Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances.
· In-depth knowledge of machine tools.
· Ability to confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.

Work Environment:
The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or irritating chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing, or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.
Physical Demands:

**Position Summary:**
We seek an experienced Agile Tooling & Enablement Specialist to support adopting, configuring, and training critical work management tools across Agile teams. This role will play a key part in enabling teams through standardized practices in Jira, ServiceNow, Power BI, and other platforms, while ensuring consistency, data integrity, and usability across the program.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Develop and maintain a Tooling "Starter Kit" to onboard new teams, including standardized Jira board templates aligned to wave rollout timing and program objectives.
+ Configure and align Jira to product taxonomy, supporting unified backlogs, dependency management, and roadmap alignment.
+ Ensure Minimum Viable Product (MVP) KPIs and dashboards are consistently implemented across all teams using Jira and Power BI.
+ Provide ongoing recommendations for tooling improvements and identify gaps in collaboration, work management, and DevOps tooling through discovery efforts.
+ Partner with Scrum Masters, Agile Coaches, and leadership to drive tool adoption, team ownership, and consistency across the portfolio.
+ Deliver hands-on training and onboarding for Jira and ServiceNow Agile delivery modules, particularly for users with limited tool familiarity.
+ Collaborate with the Center of Excellence (COE), architects, and other stakeholders for future tooling integration and team enrollment.
+ Design, build, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards to visualize key metrics and support data-driven decisions.
Required Qualifications:
+ Proven experience configuring and supporting Jira, ServiceNow Agile modules, and Power BI in an Agile environment.
+ Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, SAFe practices, and team-level agile tooling best practices.
+ Experience in onboarding and supporting multiple teams through tool standardization and training.
+ Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, coach, and collaborate across teams.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Experience working in large-scale Agile programs or transformations is a plus.
Preferred:
+ SAFe certification (e.g., SPC or equivalent)
+ Experience with SharePoint, DevOps toolchains, and other collaboration platforms
+ Familiarity with Agile metrics and KPIs, such as velocity, predictability, and flow efficiency

**What you'll do.**
+ Support Manufacturing Process Engineering activity
+ Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity and tooling
+ Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products
+ Work with Tooling vendors, coordinate and conduct tool life studies, work with tool crib, manage inbound/outbound tooling, interact with 3rd party commodity tooling company
+ Develop action plans as required to investigate and prioritize quality concerns and verify corrective actions on internal processes and supplier processes
+ Lead and conduct process audits to ensure process discipline is consistent with guidelines
+ Create process and instruction sheets supporting quality methods and processes
+ Lead role in resolving assembly related concerns
+ Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives and best practices
+ Ensure compliance to Plant, Corporate, Governmental and Environmental standards
+ Support ISO 14001 compliance and support internal ISO auditing and compliance as required
+ Support continuous improvement in safety, quality and productivity
+ Identify throughput constraints and drive root cause improvements
**You'll have.**
+ 1+ years of experience in engineering

+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering

+ Working knowledge of Tooling, tool trials, speeds and feeds, chip control
+ Working knowledge of CNC programming languages (G-code) and off-set tables
+ Working knowledge of Siemens 840D CNC controls
+ Aluminum machining experience
+ Experience with process monitoring tools including vibration monitoring
+ Experience with automated gauging systems including variable air and electronic gauges, CMMs, and surface finish
+ Experience with statistical process control analysis software including Q-DAS and Minitab
+ Demonstrated ability to read part prints, blueprints, modify drawings and use AutoCAD
+ Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
+ 8D and 5Why corrective action and problem solving skills
+ Lean Tools - 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping
+ DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience
+ TQM and Kaizen Methods
+ FMEA, PPAP, and DOEs experience
+ Visual Factory Management
+ Ergonomic analysis knowledge and experience
