Job Description
Thermo King of Houston is Now Hiring a Trailer Repair Technician at 772 McCarty Street, Houston, TX 77029. Trailer Technicians will diagnose, overhaul, adjust, PM and perform repair on all types of equipment from flatbed to dry van and bodies as well as refrigerated truck and trailer equipment.
Responsibilities
Major Responsibilities:
- Perform all levels of maintenance and repair, on commercial truck and trailer equipment.
- Perform diagnosis and make repairs to electrical systems to include exterior and interior lighting and control systems.
- Perform brake jobs, suspension repairs to include conventional spring and air springs systems, bearings, slack adjusters and s-cam repair.
- Diagnose and repair air brake and ride height valves.
- Perform maintenance and repair on both swing and roll-up rear and side doors.
- Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
- Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner.
- Perform diagnosis and repair of all major brands of lift gate used by today’s industry.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- 3 to 5 years practical experience in the transport equipment field.
Arc and wire welding skill a must. - Proficiency in the use of all necessary tools of trade required.
Physical Activities & Requirements:
- Physical strength and ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor, including frequent bending, walking, and heavy lifting, for extended periods under dirty and uncomfortable conditions and in all types of weather as necessary.
- Able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Able to climb ladders or steps/stairs to get to equipment.
- Will be required on occasion to work more than 8 hours on shift.
- Requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, balancing, lifting, carrying, and reaching or handling with arms, hands, and fingers.
- Crawling and working in narrow spaces.
- Requires frequent repetitive movements, i.e. hammering, turning wrenches, or use of screwdrivers.
- Must also follow up and keep up with any changes in Certification level added by Thermo King Corp. Minneapolis.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to work with fingers.
- Normal vision with or without corrective lenses.
Working Conditions:
Working in the vicinity of hazardous, flammable materials and solvents and engine exhaust fumes, along with refrigeration gases.

Candidate will possess personal knowledge and skills to perform preventative maintenance on TFF Transportation Trailers and Converter Dollies. Will properly diagnose and perform necessary repairs to non-power equipment, including air brake systems and electrical systems. Candidate must be willing to work 2nd or 3rd shift. Candidate must possess all personal tools required to perform the job and will be required to appropriate necessary hand tools as required by job assignment.
NO CDL REQUIRED.

- Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb ladders and stairs, stand, walk, and turn/pivot frequently throughout the duration of the workday.
- Ability to work varying shifts, additional hours and/or overtime depending on service needs.
- Sitting required infrequently throughout the duration of the workday.
- Lift, lower, push, pull, leverage and manipulate equipment and/or packages weighing up to 70 pounds.
- Assist in moving packages or equipment up to 150 pounds.
- Simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, reaching from foot level to above shoulder level as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
- Operate standard/manual transmission.
- Operate power, pneumatic tools.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment.
- Must meet all requirements to be Power Industrial Truck Operations (PITO) certified.
- Work in an environment with variable temperatures and humidity (climatic conditions), exposure to cleaning materials, petroleum products, dust, dirt, and noise, outside inclement weather.
- Work cooperatively in a diverse work environment.
