Job Duties:

This position will have a key role in a variety of transportation projects for ODOT and local agencies throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. In doing so, they will lead the Portland transportation engineering team in project pursuits, project management, and design. Projects include large complex highway projects, bridges, intersections, trails, ADA improvements, and urban and rural roadway corridors. These are large multi-discipline projects requiring design of stormwater, sewer, waterlines, staging, and traffic control. In addition to leading projects, this position will actively participate in the seller-doer model of business development, continued company success, and the mentorship of junior staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
- 15+ years of experience with ODOT and/or local agency transportation projects in Oregon
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Oregon, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Familiarity with ODOT, AASHTO, and MUTCD design manuals
- Familiarity with related codes and standards
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to legally work in the US
- Valid Driver's License

- Prepare or oversee the roadway/highway design work using local or AASHTO standards: horizontal and vertical alignment, roadway sections, intersection layout and sight distance determination, interchange layout, roadway drainage including hydraulic reports, and right-of-way plans.
- Prepare and oversee the roadway design elements of various sizes of contracts including but not limited to: roadway alignments and modeling, right-of-way and construction plans, specifications and estimates, erosion control plans, site plans, drainage design and details, utility relocation plans, pavement designs, pavement marking plans, signing plans, traffic control plans, and others as required.
- Prepare technical studies and write reports.
- Manage projects and serve as task lead or deputy PM to assist in the management of larger projects.
- Prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules through coordination with clients, HDR teams, and subconsultants.
- Manage and/or provide the following Team Lead work elements:
- engineering, design, and project technical production services
- make decisions on design and engineering procedures as needed
- day-to-day communication (verbal and written) with clients
- develop, support and manage junior engineers and technical staff as assigned
- coordinate with subconsultants
- keep projects on schedule and within budget
- maintain client satisfaction and market awareness.
- Assist the Alabama Section Manager with staff recruiting and development, client development, and business development in the state and local area.
- Work as part of a team on a variety of transportation design projects and pursuits for Alabama DOT, local municipalities, and other clients.
- Function as technical lead on mid-size projects and task manager on large complex roadway design projects.
- Supervise staff of professionals and technicians as needed.
- Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of transportation engineering/design experience
- Alabama PE or ability to obtain through reciprocity
- Hands-on experience with Bentley ORD
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 7 years experience
- Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to handle multiple assignments
- Good leadership and organizational skills
