The Manager, Transportation will have ultimate responsibility for delivering a high level of service to our vendors every day, ensuring high operational standards and vendor satisfaction within an assigned geographic area. The primary function of the Manager, Transportation is to provide oversight for Transportation Provider relationships and satisfaction, implementation, logistics network management, field monitoring, and financial analysis of transportation costs within the assigned region. This role is key to a successful relationship with our Transportation Providers.

What you’ll do:
- Manage and oversee all operational aspects of Logistics, within assigned region
- Ensure local Logistics teams are evaluating performance of transportation providers and holding them accountable for a variety of metrics, including, but not limited to on time performance, cost and customer service satisfaction
- Primary responsibility and focus, at the assigned regional level, for network costs, including but not limited to reviewing and containing average costs per trip, average costs per mile, and other costs related metrics to meet budgeted transportation expenses over managed territories
- Drive cost containment initiatives through innovative recommendations
- Provide support for organization
- Direct Logistics Team in retention of and recruitment to the existing network to ensure that networks are comprehensive in geographic and mode coverage
- Direct Logistics Team in field monitoring and issuing of performance improvement plans (PIP) for transportation providers’ subpar performance
- Ensure transportation providers (TP) are educated and trained in accordance with MTM and contract specific requirements
- Ensure TPs are compliant with all requirements, credentials and policies

What you’ll need:

- Ensure proper approvals and financial governance policies are followed during expedited shipments

- Work within ERP and TMS systems.
- Be open to working extended shifts occasionally when dealing with expedited shipments.
- 3 years of Logistics and/or Supply Chain related experience.
- Prior international import/export experience, preferably with a 3PL
- A knack to be organized and plan how to divide your time between multiple shipment activities enabling you to work smarter - not harder - so that you get more done in less time, even when time is tight, and pressures are high.
- Great communication skills with internal customers, external suppliers as well as 3PL management. You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Infection Control Standards
- Transports program participants to and from the program site or other assigned areas, as directed by the transportation supervisor or manager.
- Assists the program participants to and from the vehicle, to the participants' residence or the center in a safe manner, using the appropriate assistive devices as necessary.
- Participates in all scheduled education programs, in-services, or staff meetings as directed.
- Utilizes safe and appropriate body mechanics, and transfer techniques when providing transportation services to program.
- Responsible for properly securing wheelchairs and safety belts for wheelchair participants.
- Performs other related duties as necessary, assigned or requested by the transportation supervisor or manager.
- Some of these extra duties include the following:
- Maintenance of the buses—adding oil to the motor, adding brake fluid, windshield wiper fluid, brake fluid, transmission fluid, putting air in tires, charging bus battery if bus won’t start, as well as, gassing bus and dropping off/picking up bus for repair.
- Cleaning of bus—this includes extermination & disinfection of bus after contamination of bed bugs and bodily fluids such as vomit, urine, and feces.
- Other responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the delivery of:
- All medication on a daily basis (average of 125 meds/supplements a day such as ensure, Pedialyte, frozen meals, diapers, syringes, gauze, etc).
- Drivers are held responsible if these items are not delivered.
- After a participant is deceased, drivers are responsible for picking up any items that belong to PACE or any items the family may choose to donate.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- A valid, unrestricted, Michigan CDL license - Class A or B, with Passenger endorsement, and a driving record that falls into an acceptable category.
- Requires a high school education or equivalent.
- Current CPR card required.
- Must be capable of and experienced in transporting individuals with special mobility needs.
- The ability to lift and/or carry 50 pounds or more and to put forth extremely heavy physical effort.
- Must meet a standardized set of competencies (approved by CMS) after working.

- Transports program participants to and from the program site or other assigned areas, as directed by the transportation supervisor or manager.
- Assists the program participants to and from the vehicle, to the participants' residence or the center in a safe manner, using the appropriate assistive devices as necessary.
- Participates in all scheduled education programs, in-services, or staff meetings as directed.
- Utilizes safe and appropriate body mechanics, and transfer techniques when providing transportation services to program.
- Responsible for properly securing wheelchairs and safety belts for wheelchair participants.
- Performs other related duties as necessary, assigned or requested by the transportation supervisor or manager.
- Some of these extra duties include the following:
- Maintenance of the buses—adding oil to the motor, adding brake fluid, windshield wiper fluid, brake fluid, transmission fluid, putting air in tires, charging bus battery if bus won’t start, as well as, gassing bus and dropping off/picking up bus for repair.
- Cleaning of bus—this includes extermination & disinfection of bus after contamination of bed bugs and bodily fluids such as vomit, urine, and feces.
- Other responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the delivery of:
- All medication on a daily basis (average of 125 meds/supplements a day such as ensure, Pedialyte, frozen meals, diapers, syringes, gauze, etc).
- Drivers are held responsible if these items are not delivered.
- After a participant is deceased, drivers are responsible for picking up any items that belong to PACE or any items the family may choose to donate.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- A valid, unrestricted, Michigan CDL license - Class A or B, with Passenger endorsement, and a driving record that falls into an acceptable category.
- Requires a high school education or equivalent.
- Current CPR card required.
- Must be capable of and experienced in transporting individuals with special mobility needs.
- The ability to lift and/or carry 50 pounds or more and to put forth extremely heavy physical effort.
- Must meet a standardized set of competencies (approved by CMS) after working.
- Must be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date after engaging in direct participant contact.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.
- Must pass post-offer, pre-employment background check and health screening, including drug test, TB and MMR.
