Immerse yourself in the day-to-day operations of our HR team, contributing to various projects and tasks critical to our success while team is engaged in an HR transformation project. Experience with SAP and SuccessFactors is a plus. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain comprehensive HR experience within a supportive environment. Pay Rate: $45.00-$48.00/Hour Responsibilities: First point of contact for employees regarding all HR issues and advise management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues. Work closely with Labor Relations Leadership and HR Business Partner/HR Site Lead on escalated employee relations matters. Partner with management to recruit, interview, and select employees to fill vacant positions. Support recruitment efforts by posting roles, scheduling interviews, and processing applications and background checks. Assist candidates with their job applications and field general inquiries. Advise managers on interviewing practices, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance reviews, and other related human resource issues. Prepare offer letters, additional employee related documentation and ensures that employee information is updated in SAP correctly in a timely manner. Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding of new employees. Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to benefits, leaves; workers compensation claims, disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance management; productivity, and recognition. Contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment. Ensure legal compliance with relation to HR. This includes any reporting that is required. Update and process employee changes through our HRIS system. Coordinate internal meetings, employee events, and special projects. Required Skills: Ability to learn the IBEW contract and Labor protocol. Ability to work with both IBEW and salaried employees on a daily basis and to maintain confidential information and files. Ability to learn the various medical plans (both salaried and IBEW) and supplemental plans offered to employees. Must maintain confidentiality and approach all matters with professionalism. Flexibility in the prioritization of a continually changing workload. Must be self-starter and able to multi-task to completion. Exceptional communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive and difficult conversations with employees. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) SAP, Worker's Compensation software and email/internet usage. This position will be located in our Buffalo, NY office with hybrid working. Job Purpose The Lead Program Labor & Employee Relations Manager is responsible for leading and managing the labor and employee relations processes in Upstate New York and acting as the representative of the Company in labor and employee relations matters with the local union(s). Key Accountabilities Serve as the point person for communication of Company policies, procedures, organizational changes, benefits, and other relevant information prior to employee communications to Union Leadership Assist contract negotiations and agreement with union representatives including standards of work and contract content to ensure best value for National Grid Manage employee complaints and grievances through the relevant procedures to ensure compliance with Labor Agreements; Company Policies, Procedures and Standards; and Federal and State Statues Provide advice and technical expertise on labor relations matters to the line managers to ensure that standards are applied consistently and correctly Work with Union Leadership on individual employee issues, such as issues with onboarding, training, and benefits Key point person for the grievance process and contractual hearings. Work with Union Leadership on understanding and resolving issues raised through these processes where possible Prepare cases for presentation at hearings and proceedings to support the achievement of successful outcomes for National Grid Draft settlement agreements to resolve contractual or discipline issues, including last chance agreements Work closely with Absence Management and Union Leadership on positive drug tests, excessive absences management and non- compliance with medical procedures Support Ethics by serving as local union CBA subject matter expert in investigations regarding represented employees Work collaboratively with the NY People Partners to ensure the NY People Strategy is seamlessly understood and implemented in the NY business unit Develop and utilize peer group network in order to absorb and apply best practice within own area of specialism Knowledge of Company personnel policies and procedures, Union Contracts and special agreements, and the ability to interpret and apply the provisions of same Qualifications Bachelor's degree in: Labor Relations, Human Resource Management, or a business-related area (or equivalent work experience) is required Minimum of 3 years of Labor Relations experience in a utility, operations, logistics, or manufacturing environment Knowledge of practices, principles and applications pertaining to the labor relations profession Prior supervisory experience of union represented employees a plus Knowledge of current trends in Human Resource management and applicable Federal and State regulations.
