**Requirements**
+ 7-10 years of experience as a Usability Manager, and have a full understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
+ Bachelor's degree and/or equivalency.
+ Hold a current professional UX Certification
+ **Must be a US Citizen** with ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust. Must successfully complete a government issued background investigation.
+ Proficient in usability research methods such as user testing, surveys, card sorting, and heuristic evaluation.
+ Have a deep understanding of the usability principles and best practices, and be able to apply this knowledge to improve the usability of digital products.

This consulting-level position with the Clinical Data and Interoperability team in the Digital Transformation and Innovation (DT&I) department is responsible for advancing data usability to support MEDITECH Expanse platform implementation. The role ensures that high-quality, normalized, and usable data is consistently available to consumers and systems.
Data usability is focused on the real-world consumption of data by clinicians, data scientists, administrators, and report writers. These consumers have varying levels of technical competence and clinical expertise, and this role bridges that gap by interpreting clinical workflows, normalizing data, and ensuring alignment with standards.
The Expanse Data Usability Analyst partners with business and product owners, subject matter experts in clinical domains, and technical teams to define requirements, develop data models, and participate in terminology normalization. The position contributes to both foundational data products and use case-specific solutions, with particular emphasis on the company-wide implementation of the MEDITECH Expanse electronic medical record.

Requirements

  • Number of Overall Years Necessary: 5-8
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Engineering (Human Factors, Biomedical, Industrial), Psychology (Cognitive or Experimental), or equivalent and at least 3 years of experience performing Human Factors and Usability Engineering in medical device design and development, with demonstrated ability to tailor industry standards and guidance appropriately.
  • Understand Human Factors and Usability, ergonomics, and data collection and analysis principles in the user-centered design of medical devices.
