Position Overview
The Cost Accounting Manager will be responsible for analyzing cost structures, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting in the conversion from standard costing to weighted average. This role is essential in ensuring cost efficiency and supporting strategic decision-making. The Cost Accounting Manager will be primarily responsible for product costing, inventory analysis and tracking of purchase price variances, production variances and freight variances. This role will prepare actual product P&Ls on a quarterly basis, and reports to the Controller.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Obtain specifications and raw material, packaging material and production cost estimates from Operations for new products and calculate the total cost of the item.
- For the annual budget, prepare product standard costs by obtaining product specification changes and raw material, packaging material and production cost updates from Operations.
- Set up all new raw material, packaging material and finished products in our ERP system.
- Input and maintain product formulas and product standard costs in our ERP system.
- Input all raw and packaging material cost standards into our ERP system.
- Input all production activity into our ERP system.
- Assist the Controller with all monthly closing activities related to inventory balance sheet accounts and all product cost-related income statement accounts.
- Prepare Monthly Operations Dashboard, which includes:
- Summarizing purchase price variances
- Actual production Costs versus budget
- Analyze finished goods and raw material inventory levels
- Analysis of warehouse costs
- Analysis of freight costs
- Prepare quarterly product P&L statement
- Analyze any product supply cost savings opportunities
- Track actual results on any implemented product supply cost savings projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification (preferred but not required).
- 5+ years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and cost analysis tools.

Our client is a well established equipment manufacturing company with a reputable publicly traded company located in the San Gabriel Valley area. They are seeking a progressive Cost Accounting Manager to join their Corporate Accounting team. This is a 100%/Fully Onsite role partnering with all departments including engineering, supply chain/operations, accounting/finance, purchasing, production, etc. A passion for process improvement walking the shop floor to understand the bottle necks and problem solve.
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Cost Accounting Manager is responsible for all aspects of cost accounting activities related to manufacturing and service operations. Major responsibilities include analyzing, reconciling, and controlling inventory, cost of sales and product line margins. The position focuses on the continuous improvements of product profitability and new product development.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform monthly cost accounting close, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of sub ledgers to general ledger, account balance review, analysis and reconciliation, etc to support accurate and timely submission of financial statements.
- Perform all other cost accounting activities including product line margin analysis, inventory control, inventory valuation analysis, variance analysis, variance accrual, bill of material/BOM, etc.
- Annually update overhead rates using ABC system to analyze labor, material and allocation of overhead costs by product line.
- Review purchase price variance and other variances and update new standards as needed.
- Provide reporting and analysis for all manufacturing and service activities including, actual to budget system cost tracking/project costing, product line margin report, field service report, sales by month, inventory summary, inventory obsolescence, etc.
- Ability to extract, organize, analyze, and report data in a manner that is useful and relevant for making business decisions with the use of ERP and other reporting systems.
- Effectively collaborate with colleagues from all departments including sales, manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, field service and IT.
- Lead and execute process improvement and system implementation/upgrade projects.
- Perform JSOX annual update in the inventory and cost areas and obtain supporting documents to ensure compliance.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documents and analysis to the external auditors.
- Assist Sales with the annual List Price update process.
- Manage Fixed Assets. Perform monthly reconciliation and reporting for Fixed Assets. Coordinate annual Fixed Assets Inventory.
- Complete month end parent company reporting package for Inventory, COS and Fixed Assets.
- Perform other special projects as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in standard cost accounting in a manufacturing environment preferrable discrete, components, equipment related

The Senior Cost Accountant for the US is a key member of the TOPS (Technical Operations) Finance team. This role supports the monthly and quarterly closing activities, audit, and inventory management. The Senior Cost Accountant is a driven, detail-oriented self-starter, who enjoys building productive relationships, has innate curiosity, enjoys problem solving, and has an eye for process improvement. The successful candidate displays technical accounting skills, solid knowledge in costing, strong analytical skills, business acumen and communication skills. To be successful in this role the candidate needs to be proactive, performance driven with a keen sense of ownership and a great team player.
Responsibilities
- Inventory Management : Manage all aspects of the inventory transactions for US produced products under the current costing process. Including raw material purchases, plant inventory transactions, Drug Substance manufacturing. Lead cycle counts process and support audit activities.
- Cost Accounting: Manage full product cost accounting. Including inventory cost adjustments, average cost analysis, inventory reserve management.
- Monthly and Quarterly closing support: Complete inventory journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance review, inventory analysis. Complete inventory reporting to support quarterly filings and audits.
- Business partnering and business process improvement: Support business partners in their daily tasks, while collaboratively seeking opportunities for continued process improvement.
- Internal control: ensure a strong internal control environment for the assigned business areas to minimize the chance of SOX and Financial Reporting exposures; support the auditing and remediation activities as needed.
- Others: Support the new ERP/SAP Implementation initiatives as needed, support other local and global ad-hoc projects as needed
- Strong skills in technical accounting, communication, teamwork, business acumen
- Minimum 3 years of Finance/Accounting or equivalent experience
- Cost Accounting experience strongly preferred
- Accounting experience in costing or controllership organizations required
- Experience of US GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley, and internal control environment essential
- Prior SAP/ERP experiences a plus
- Working knowledge and skills in Oracle Manufacturing and Excel are required
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field is required
- CMA or CPA is desired but not required

**Overview**
THE ROLE:
The Manager, Cost Accounting, will oversee various aspect of cost accounting and related financial reporting of APAC and America's GBS CoEs and Manufacturing. Critical to the role is the ability to develop efficient and effective standardized processes and implement automation to support our global cost accounting and reporting functions, including global transfer pricing. This role will maintain communication with various stakeholders worldwide to resolve issues and implement best practices.
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:
- Develop and maintain global standardized processes related to manufacturing and cost accounting
- Support and enhance global transfer profit program, identify potential issues, and work with countries to provide resolutions
- Drive cost accounting automation projects design, implementation, and testing (Transfer profit review by local countries, global reserve)
- Analyze manufacturing costs and its downstream impact on distribution cost
- Provide guidance and best practices related to cost accounting to GBS CoEs
- Develop, oversee and analyze monthly financial reporting packages of GBS CoEs to regional controllers related to Sales, Gross Profit, and Inventory activity; identify potential issues and suggest improvements
- Maintain cost accounting desktop procedures to be used as instructions globally to reduce time for re-training employees
- Support requests from auditors, compliance, and tax departments
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
WHAT'S SPECIAL ABOUT THE TEAM:
Team is comprised of a multinational group of cost accountants with significant years of experience in accounting, internal control development and data analytics. **Qualifications**
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
+ Strong accounting skills and experience, in conjunction with strong analytical skills
+ Excellent working knowledge of Excel, including building of complex financial models
+ Highly motivated with demonstrated leadership skills
+ Experience utilizing leading ERP software, proficiency with Oracle is an advantage
+ 7+ years professional experience in Accounting or Financial Analysis with public companies
+ 3+ years experience with Inventory and/or Cost Accounting
+ Professional experience within a manufacturing environment is preferred
Education
+ Bachelor's (BS/BA/BBA) degree in accounting
