An exciting opportunity for an experienced Cost Accounting Manager to take ownership of cost and inventory accounting within a growing organization. We are looking for a skilled Senior Finance Manager to lead and optimize cost accounting processes within our organization. This role is based in South San Francisco, California, and focuses on ensuring the accuracy of manufacturing cost data, standard cost accounting, and cost analysis. Responsibilities:
+ Partner with Accounting, Operations/CLIA Lab, IT, and Facilities to deliver cost accounting solutions.
+ Lead COGS modeling, reviews, and tracking against performance targets.
+ Oversee product costing, standard cost set-up, forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis.
+ Provide financial guidance and challenge assumptions in planning/budgeting processes.

+ Finance ownership of the new business opportunity cost modeling process, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive profitable growth.
+ Financial discipline ownership of the capital expenditure process, including partnering with Operations to evaluate the best deployment of capital, while also ensuring return on investment commitments are realized.
+ Partner with Operations in validation of continuous improvement program savings, ensuring reported savings are delivering bottom line improvement, while also establishing best practices and related KPIs across the sites.
+ Ownership of manufacturing site costing process, ensuring a standardized process and timely updates.
+ Being a business partner to the organization helping evaluate growth and lean opportunities.
+ Gather all pertinent information from available systems developing and maintaining reporting that supports Operations and/or Finance departments.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of cost accounting, including standard costing, BOM (Bill of Materials) management, and system reporting within EPICOR. Responsibilities of Cost Accounting Manager
+ Manage and oversee the company's cost accounting function, ensuring accuracy in standard costs, inventory valuation, and cost reporting.
+ Develop, maintain, and update standard costing models to reflect current production processes and costs.
+ Oversee the accuracy of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings to ensure proper cost roll-ups and product costing.
+ Leverage EPICOR ERP system to extract, analyze, and report cost data, ensuring system integrity and alignment with accounting standards.

The Cost Accounting Manager will collaborate closely with operations, supply chain, and senior leadership to provide insights that drive efficiency, profitability, and continuous improvement.
Cost Accounting & Financial Analysis
- Manage and maintain standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
- Analyze production costs, labor efficiency, material usage, and overhead absorption.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes by preparing accurate cost-related journal entries and reconciliations.
- Prepare and present cost reports, performance metrics, and profitability analyses to management.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
- Partner with operations and finance teams to develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Provide cost modeling and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Monitor actual performance against budget and forecasts, highlighting key trends and variances.
Accounting Operations & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
- Assist with external audits and support tax and corporate reporting requirements as needed.
- Collaborate with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger teams to ensure accuracy of financial data.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline cost accounting processes and reporting.
- Leverage ERP/accounting systems to enhance data accuracy and efficiency; familiarity with Sage is strongly preferred.
- Partner with operations to integrate financial workflows with manufacturing systems.
