Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Payroll Processing Clerk to join our team. In this critical role, you will oversee and execute complex payroll operations, ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and serve as a subject matter expert for payroll processes. This position requires exceptional accuracy, discretion, and a strong understanding of multi-location and multi-state payroll practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for 350 employees, including salaried, hourly, and seasonal staff
  • Review and audit timekeeping records, deductions, and adjustments for accuracy and compliance; communicate with supervisors to investigate missing or unusual activity
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll, including bonuses, garnishments, and reimbursements
  • Maintain payroll records in accordance with company policies and government regulations
  • Reconcile payroll reports and assist with month-end and year-end close activities
  • Audit benefits (both paid time off balances and medical benefit contributions) monthly to ensure accuracy.
  • Generate payroll-related reports for finance, audit, and compliance purposes
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies professionally and promptly
  • Demonstrate knowledge of ADP Workforce Now at an intermediate or expert level in recent 3 years. Support the implementation and optimization of any new payroll systems or HRIS software.
  • Stay current on wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and payroll best practices
  • Provide training or support to HR support staff as needed
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred
  • 10+ years of payroll processing experience, with a strong track record of accuracy and confidentiality
  • Experience with multi-state payroll and high-volume processing strongly preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and labor compliance
  • Proficiency in payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Paylocity, Paycom, or similar platforms. Recent payroll conversion or integration experience preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with the highest level of discretion
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a staff eight payroll associates in the in-house processing of payroll for fifty-four legal entities (weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll frequencies)
  • Train, develop and manage performance expectations of team members, including conducting performance reviews, ensuring achievement of goals, providing training on new processes and procedures, and conducting corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate payment of employees including printing live checks and creation of direct deposit and positive pay files for 140 payroll groups and 25K employees.
  • Supervise wage attachment processing including preparation of answers, deduction setups and computation.
  • Effectively coordinating and resolving issues with Payroll Tax team, local company Human Resources and Payroll contacts, Corporate Finance and other departments within CRH Americas Materials
  • Conduct review of Payroll Processing procedures and controls (including SOX key controls), identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiencies, implementation of process improvements.
  • Participate in acquisition, consolidation, and other initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain professional demeanor at all times while representing the company.
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.

Job Requirements

  • Associates degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) strongly preferred
  • +5 years in an in-house multi-corporation, multi-state, multi-pay frequency payroll environment
  • Hands-on experience with in-house payroll applications
  • +5 years of corporate accounting/finance
  • +3 years of experience managing and developing payroll team
  • Advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables, grouping functions, data validation, and v-lookup) and proficient in Microsoft Office

-Prepare the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) bi-weekly payroll summary reports that summarize the Agencies' bi-weekly payroll budget for submission to oversight agencies. Prepare comprehensive monthly statistical reports pertaining to the unit's activities including completed and pending employee actions/requests. Prepare summary reports on the unit's overall activities.

-Monitor, and analyze the processing of grievances, stipulations, and arbitration cases and observing that the recoupment of overpayments is processed accurately. Ensure logs and databases concerning grievances and overpayments are maintained accurately.

-Liaise with Salary Administration, Timekeeping, Employee Relations, Workers' Compensation units to discuss payment issues related to promotions, salary changes, retroactive payments, returns from leave, leave without pay and any other employee status changes affecting his/her pay.

-Assist employees with processing and inquiries related to Direct Deposit, Transit Benefits, and College Saving Programs.

In this position, the Payroll Analyst will join our in-house Payroll team to process payroll, consult, and advise our current Payroll department on how best to use the Oracle Payroll module to process our internal employees' payroll.

Requirements
  • 7+ years of in-house Payroll processing and deep knowledge of payroll regulations and tax compliance
  • 2+ of hands on Oracle Cloud Payroll experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve errors or bugs with Oracle Cloud Payroll
  • Deep experience processing US Payroll for a large organization
  • SQL and/or Advanced Excel experience
  • Able to provide best practices and even process Payroll if needed.
  • In-depth experience with General Ledger and/or Journal Entries
Responsibilities
  • Manage the end-to-end US payroll process using the Oracle Cloud Payroll system, including payroll preparation, processing, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws.
  • Analyze payroll data for discrepancies and ensure timely resolution of any issues.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to ensure accurate employee records and benefits integration.
  • Participate as an essential member of the support team, taking responsibility for owning and resolving incidents pertaining to Oracle Payroll HCM.
  • Able to resolve complex payroll errors and issues
  • Consult with the Business unit to understand what enhancements or business projects they have.
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports and tax filings in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Conduct audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop and implement payroll procedures and policies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Serve as a point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees and management.
  • Support with month end close.
  • Provide training and support to payroll staff and other departments as needed.
  • Provide ad-hoc reports as requested.
  • Develop customer-facing documentation (configuration workbooks, job aids, test scripts).
  • Create and maintain templates with the latest release information.
  • Conduct triage sessions with customers to determine root causes, document outstanding issues, and provide solutions and workarounds.
  • Advise customers on best practices and impacts of quarterly releases.
  • Coach existing Payroll team on Oracle HCM Payroll.
  • Work closely with customers on configuration status.
Nice to Have
  • Experience processing Union, salaried and hourly employee's Payroll
  • Oracle Cloud Benefits Implementation Certification.
  • HCM Cloud modules (Time & Labor, Absence, Benefits) is a plus
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required with minimum 5 years relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, High School Diploma or GED and a minimum 7 years relevant

The Payroll Processing Team Lead supervises Payroll Specialists' daily activity and ensures that all information processed is accurately and timely administered. Additionally, the Team Lead provides guidance and insight for team members' professional development and growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Supervises Payroll Specialists in the preparation, distribution, and reporting process for Payroll Department

As part of the global diversified building materials group, CRH, Americas Materials (AMAT) is currently recruiting for the position of Payroll Processing Supervisor within the Corporate Finance Payroll team based in Alpharetta, GA. This position will oversee the processing of the company payroll, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance of all payroll processes.

A Shared Services Center (SSC) centralizes critical business processes, streamlining operations, reducing costs, and delivering consistent quality. By consolidating areas such as finance, procurement, payroll, and reporting, SSC eliminates duplication, frees time for strategic priorities, and fosters efficiency. SSC's primary functions include:

  • O2C (Order-to-Cash): Manages the customer journey from order to payment, driving smoother revenue processes.
  • R2R (Record-to-Report): Enables robust financial reporting and accounting.
  • P2P (Procure-to-Pay): Ensures timely vendor payments and strong supplier relationships. Manages the Travel and Expense program.
  • Center of Excellence: Drives innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Payroll (Hire-to-Retire): Ensures accurate, compliant employee payments.
  • Shared Services enables companies to focus on growth and strategic goals while maintaining operational excellence.

Job Location

This role is based at our Shared Services Center in Alpharetta, GA - hybrid work schedule

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a staff eight payroll associates in the in-house processing of payroll for fifty-four legal entities (weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll frequencies)
  • Train, develop and manage performance expectations of team members, including conducting performance reviews, ensuring achievement of goals, providing training on new processes and procedures, and conducting corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate payment of employees including printing live checks and creation of direct deposit and positive pay files for 140 payroll groups and 25K employees.
  • Supervise wage attachment processing including preparation of answers, deduction setups and computation.
  • Effectively coordinating and resolving issues with Payroll Tax team, local company Human Resources and Payroll contacts, Corporate Finance and other departments within CRH Americas Materials
  • Conduct review of Payroll Processing procedures and controls (including SOX key controls), identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiencies, implementation of process improvements.
  • Participate in acquisition, consolidation, and other initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain professional demeanor at all times while representing the company.
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
  • Other duties as required by management.

Job Requirements

  • Associates degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) strongly preferred
  • +5 years in an in-house multi-corporation, multi-state, multi-pay frequency payroll environment
  • Hands-on experience with in-house payroll applications
  • +5 years of corporate accounting/finance
  • +3 years of experience managing and developing payroll team
  • Advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables, grouping functions, data validation, and v-lookup) and proficient in Microsoft Office

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
