Join Our Team! Bay Disposal is seeking a safety-focused CDL Driver to become part of our dedicated team at our Hauling location in Norfolk, VA . If you have a passion for driving and want to make a difference in your community, we want to hear from you!
Previous waste collection experience is advantageous, but not mandatory. We will provide the training you need to succeed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safely operate a garbage truck on designated routes to collect solid waste.
Read and follow route sheets to service each customer as assigned by the dispatcher.
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles, checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
Perform physically demanding tasks involved in loading and unloading waste, occasionally without assistance.
Utilize hydraulic hand controls for lifting and loading refuse, ensuring proper disposal at designated facilities.
Engage courteously with customers and take on miscellaneous job-related tasks as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Requires extensive physical activity, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.
Work environment involves exposure to physical risks; adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.
Employees work outdoors, facing various weather conditions with exposure to noise, fumes, and vibrations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Class A CDL with air brakes endorsement is required.
A minimum of 2 years of driving experience with a stable work history is preferred.
Ability to lift more than 50 pounds.
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
